'''Earthmote''' is a term originating from [[Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition]] for "flying islands" and all other forms of physical, usually earth-based terrain that have decided to defy gravity and start hovering in mid-air, if not actually flying around. The concept is very old, dating back in D&D itself to at least the days of [[Mystara]] and the [[Elemental Planes|Plane of Air]], but the term was coined in 4e, since earthmotes were decided as the major terrain feature used to signal that the [[Nentir Vale]] wasn't your old-school [[TSR]] setting.
