==3rd Edition== 3.5e Ardents are weird: instead of a set list of powers, they pick mantles, cosmic philosophies the Ardent subscribes to, which give them lists they can draw from, they have primary and secondary mantles, which isn't terribly important other then that you can't pick a power from a secondary mantle if you have more powers from the secondary mantle, much like the other other spoiled children of 3.5, Ardents can do basically whatever the fuck they want to do, balanced only by the fact that they get moot for features and only a handful of mantles, although in the end they're still stuck being associated with Complete Psionics, a fate worse then any punishment in Carceri. Ardents have the fortune of being amazing for gish builds, thanks to 3/4th BAB, and good amour proficiencies, they blend real well with Swordsage due to both keying off Wisdom, making you the ultimate weeaboo
