His name was Jon Douglass, and he was a tall, handsome young man with lots of rippling muscles everywhere that made young women, especially this one, drool. She knew she wouldn't have a chance with him, with the other girls mooning over him, unless she turned to other means. She researched a spell that would summon a being that could give her the power to seduce the burly blacksmith and summoned it on a moonless night. Malfeas had been waiting for such a summons ever since he'd claimed the Exaltations from the Ebon Dragon. He infused a decanthrope with one such Exaltation and sent it to answer the summons. The young woman was elated that her summons had worked, but her joy quickly turned to horror as the demon leapt on her and took her body as its own. The struggle of wills was brief, and the decanthrope soon replaced the girl. It watched Jon, looking for the opportunity he needed to Exalt. Some years passed. Jon married and had a son. All the while, the demon, known as Ten Shadowed Faces, watched Jon closer and closer. It took several host bodies and split them up in the town to foster worship of Malfeas, to prepare him for Exaltation. The longer it watched, the more distant the other pieces of its mind became, and it began to feel the same things its host once did. It, she, now, became jealous of Jon's family and looked for ways to speed the process of bringing him into the fold of the Yozi's service, so that she could have him as her own. It was Second Face who found the deathknights and lured them back to the town. They attacked, sacking the town and setting fire to everything to flush the living inhabitants toward the hungry dead waiting for them. Tenth Face saw Second Face's plan and got the cultists out of the town, and as many others as she could save. Even so, only a handful of people survived. She looked around for Jon, but couldn't find him in any of the buildings. She despaired, thinking that Second Face had ruined all of her plans and killed a great man, until she saw him run past her, toward the edge of town. His wife was in tow, but she was faltering. When she fell to the blades of the deathknights, Jon kept running, blinded by fear. Tenth Face found him on a hill overlooking the burning town, sobbing into his hands. He'd realized what had happened, and how he'd failed to protect his wife out of his own insensate panic. He was a huge man, skilled with a hammer. He should have helped everyone fight their way free. He looked up at the sadly smiling face of Tenth Face, a girl he'd known for years, and who had been a good friend. He took her offered hand as she told him she could give him the power to fight off the deathknights and make up for his mistakes. He just had to accept, and he'd always be strong enough to protect everyone he loved. He awoke in the burnt out ruins of his forge to the expectant faces of the survivors of the town, who had become the first members of the Church of Jon the Smith in the intervening days. He had changed from the young man they once knew, growing impossibly larger and more muscular, several parts of his body changing drastically, and his hair falling out. He could also hear the tired voice of Tenth Face, the girl who'd given him this power, in the back of his mind. His people looked up at him like a messiah, sent to save them from the deathknights. They asked him to lead them, to guide them, and he agreed, however reluctantly. === Appearance === Jon Brasstooth is a giant of a man. He stands almost ten feet tall, and nearly half that across at the shoulders. His skin is bronzed from years spent in the forge, and is almost completely hairless now, save for his eyebrows. His eyes are charcoal black, and underneath heavy brows, matching his warm, somewhat sad smile. His head is thick, blunt, and bullet-shaped, which matches many of his other features. He rarely wears anything more than tough leather pants, preferring shirtlessness in the heat of the forge. His most notable feature, and the one he takes his name from, is his brass teeth; every single one of them has been painstakingly replaced by brass replicas during his time in the Chrysalis.
