==Humans: The Rise and Fall==
Originally, humans were all tribes wandering about in the plains, hunting animals and gathering berries. This was a lot more work than humans would like to do, however, and eventually Agriculture was invented. When this happened, the humans settled down and made towns. Now, Humans have always defined themselves by what they are not. This is part of why humans were in separate tribes to begin with. So when geographic locale strengthened the differences between tribes, they viewed each other as more different. Eventually, the settled humans developed their own separate countries. The other races thought this was ridiculous, of course. What possible advantage would this have compared to a well-run central government for the entire race? But it worked alright for the humans, who settled and filled out. And they prospered. Soon only the [[Solaris#Furnshankt|Furnshankt]] tribes remained unsettled, and they would not settle, to avoid offending the nature spirits. But a multitude of nations was not the only feature unique to humans, they also had the greatest diversity of religion. The different countries each shared only a few gods. And then [[Unified_Setting/Religion#Humans_(Aurelian_Creed)|Aurel]] was born, and soon [[Solaris#Aurelia|Prelarn]] was renamed and most humans were monotheistic. To the rest of the world, Humanity was bizarre, but essentially harmless.

And then came the war of Achaean succession. The king of [[Solaris#Achaea|Achaea]] died with no clear successor, and both [[Solaris#Vyntril|Vyntril]] and [[Solaris#Gorgossa|Gorgossa]] claimed the throne, throwing the continent into a state of war. The ferocity alarmed the rest of the world, as humans had before warred with one and other only halfheartedly. The war lasted a brutal twenty years, until eventually [[Solaris#Solus|Solus]] pushed the Treaty of Federation, allying all the powers that were then fighting.
And Solaris was all fine and dandy again. The Humans went about their business, eventually discovering [[Lindwurm#Barthelmia|Barthelmia]] and colonizing it. Human politics now use hints of war as threats, but don't openly discuss any possibility of war.
