===The Regency Council=== ====Magisterium Magna: Constantine Valdor==== As Captain-General of the Adeptus Custodes, Constantine Valdor was granted the title Magister Maxima, or ultimate controller by the Emperor himself, well before The Great Treachery. Originally tentative to use his power over the primarchs and all government, that attitude changed following the disaster that unfolded following the treachery.
When Magnus heard The Captain General's defense of The Council of Nikea he rose from his seat. "Are you so blind in your obsessive, geneticly programed devotion to father, you are willing to pretend all of this didn't happen, and that what did was just a "small hiccup." Is your conditioning and geneticly addled mind even capable of cogitating that your Master could make a mistake?" Without raising his voice, Constantine replied, "I could be convinced that he made at least twenty." :--Records from the Council of Terra
While the primarchs blamed Lorgar, the council of Nikea and the Imperial Truth, Valdor blamed the disastrous egos of the primarchs, as well as his own negligence. In Valdor's eyes, the inability of the Primarchs to put aside their own vanity for the good of the Imperium nearly cost humanity its future. Post treachery, Constantine Valdor pushed back against the primarch's efforts to place Sanguinius as head of the imperium, instead using his own well established title to subjugate them to his oversight the imperium. Valdor views his job as a negative role, keeping all of the different leaders of the Imperium in check, especially the 12 Primadonas. Technically he and every single Custodes outrank the Primarchs, though they almost always use their authority through Valdor. In private amongst his fellow Custodes, he often refers to their Role as Adeptus Nutrices (Bureau of Wetnurses) and himself as Magister Maxima (Head Schoolmaster). Constantine Valdor, alongside Fulgrim, and Magnus form the Triumveratus Homines Posteri (Triumvirate of The Future of Mankind), who oversee the recovery of The Emperor. ====Warmaster: Sanguinius==== Beloved by all, there was no other person who could shoulder the burdens of Empire following Horus' resignation. Sanguinius serves as the "Face", despite only being one of the regency members. Sanguinius' acts on behalf of the Council of Regents. He shoulders the responsibilities of The Imperium admirably, though he notes with some disdain how eager his brother's were to shrug off their responsibilities onto him out of despair. The Regent has very little interest in actually managing the day to day affairs of the Imperium, usually leaving said management to the Segmentarchi, Fulgrim, and The Highlords of Terra. His main emphasis is instead on leading the Imperium's armies against the forces of chaos. ====Legiarch Lupercal==== The Great Treachery had shaken [[Medhammer_40,000_Primarchs#Lupercal |Lupercal]]'s faith in his capacity to lead. Though Sanguinius and others protested, Lupercal stepped down as Warmaster. With [[Medhammer_40,000_Primarchs#Sanguinius|Sanguinius]] now commander of the Imperium's war-making ability, he continues to coordinate the Imperium's forces as "The Commander of The Legions." Though he now takes orders from his brother Sanguinius and the rest of the council, Lupercal's sharp mind and capacity for governance has made him an indispensable asset to The Warmaster. Under his new title, Lupercal, takes care of the day-to-day management of warfare, that the more mercurial Sanguinius can't be bothered with. He ensures that the Legions meet the Warmaster's exacting standards and the auxillaries are used to the best of their potential. His greatest weapon is his own legion “The Luna Wolves,” which serves as the spearhead in most offensives. Given Sanguinius' general disinterest and disdain for Human Auxillaries, Lupercal also has free reign to use The Imperium's tithed soldiers and auxillaries from allies, as he sees fit. ====Magisterium Libri (Qitobuqa): Jaghatai Khan==== Inheriting the Codex Astartes from Roboute Gulliman, Jaghatai Khan oversees the Chaptered Astartes as “Qitobuqa” (Chorgoran (ie Distorted Chagatai) for “Master of the Book”). Given the many varried and specialized roles that these Chapters have taken on. Jaghatai, (With The Lion) have taken on many of the duties that The Inquisition does in Vanilla Hammer. Jaghatai's role in the codex astartes is primarily supervisory and judicial, with the Khan having the final say on interpretation of The Codex. ====Magisterium Artificis: Ferrus Manus==== Originally offered to Vulkan, who declined in favor of governing the Ultima Segmentum. Fulgrim and Ferrus Manus work together to create technology and equipment for the Imperium. Both Civilian and Military. Fulgrim’s focus being something of a “Surgeon General” for the Imperium while Ferrus Manus serves as the head engineer and liaison to the Adeptus Mechanicus. ====Magisterium Vitalis: Fulgrim==== A wide-reaching department, covering apothecaries, geneticists, and ecologists. Fulgrim was selected in the hopes that he could do for Terra what he had done for Chemos. When he is not undertaking grand terraforming and bio-engineering projects, Fulgrim traverses the Imperium trying to establish some modicum of health and safety standards. He often travels with his best friend and chief artificer Ferrus Manus, and between the two of them most engineering problems can be solved. ====Magisterium Arcanae: Magnus==== Magnus oversees the actions of all psykers. Both He, Constantine Valdor, and Fulgrim are responsible for the security and well being of The Emperor, with Valdor focusing on physical security, Magnus warding against supernatural threats, and Fulgrim ensuring the physical health and healing. The Black Ships are headed by Magnus, which is partially used to maintain the golden throne, but is also in part to head an academy for psykers. Which young psyker goes where is ultimately his choice, and the descision often haunts him. Magnus Aids The Khan in the organization of the Free Chapters, especially those whose focus is on anti-demonic forces. Magnus, along with occasionally Konrad Curze, will take on the Golden Throne in order to aid their father in recovering. Additionally, Magnus is supposedly working on improving and repairing the Webway gate, but already overwhelmed as it is, this task has been moving at a glacial pace. ====Magisterium Juris: Konrad Curze==== Following Leman Russ's Abdication: Konrad Curze and his Night Lords have assumed the role of eliminating The Enemies of The Emperor. While Sanguinius is referred to as "The Emperor's Fury" Curze is merely known as the more subdued term, "The Emperor's Disapproval." Such a banal name hides the true Silent rage and terror behind that name. It is as if to say "The Emperor disapproves of your existence, which is now forfit." Konrad Curze also serves as the Council's liason to the Imperial inquisition, which he does with sadistic glee. ====Magisterium Emeritus: Leman Russ==== While Leman has abandoned nearly all positions of leadership to focus on his own penitential crusade, his brothers have insisted on maintaining a position for him, should he ever change his mind.
