*'''Elites:''' An expansion but more than that. Unlike other expansions there is no "Elites" Game Mode, instead Elites is treated as part of Core by GW and the content inside is used in every game mode. This let them use it as a vehicle to vastly improve the balance of the game. Contains required content for almost every faction in the game and introduces [[Warhammer_40,000/Tactics/Kill_Team(8E) Imperium#Adeptus_Custodes_(Elites)|Custodes]]. Elites and the Core Manual are the 2 most important books to get. If you're cost averse, try out the game with the Core Manual first, but when you decide to get invested, get this book second. Don't listen to anyone that tells you Elites is power creep or unbalanced - it was actually a major balance fix and several factions went from garbage to decent because of it.
