==Block Policy== ''The following is a proto-policy based on some thinking about how to deal with vandals. All blocking decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, but this is generally where I will start.'' --[[User:AssistantWikifag|AssistantWikifag]] 21:04, 20 April 2012 (BST) # Don't spam links to unrelated external sites -- we're here to talk about traditional games, not dodgy pharmaceutical websites or internet currencies. If you're doing this, expect a permanent block. Of course, if you're doing this, you're probably a spambot who will only be visiting us once anyway -- in which case, don't let the door hit you on the way out. ## If we ever block someone indefinitely for having an "unacceptable username," it most likely means that they have a username that looks like a spammer's -- like "HazevuBugato" or "MichelleVasquez191" (not actual blocked usernames, but rather examples to illustrate the patterns that we look for). I suppose we'd block someone with a vulgar username, too, but that's never happened, and if it did, we would not block account creation from that IP address. ## If we ever block someone ''indefinitely'' for inserting gibberish or removing content (not to be confused with a ''temporary'' block for the same offenses -- see below), it means that there was no actual link in the spam, but the text was clearly added with spamming in mind. It may be in a foreign language (or broken English), and often includes product names. # Vandalizing pages (such as by inserting gibberish, false information, or personal attacks) is also not cool, and the same goes for removing or blanking pages and sections that you don't like. If you've got a problem, use the discussion page, not the "undo" link. ## Related: think carefully before making major changes. Not that change is bad, but it can raise tempers if done clumsily, and that way lies edit wars. Again, talk it out on the discussion page if your jimmies are rustled. ## One-time offenses are not big deals. Everybody has differing opinions, and everyone makes mistakes now and then. This wiki is generally informal in tone, but the line between "humorous" and "offensive" or "stupid" or "trolling" is in different places for different people. In any case, if the topic of contention is resolved more-or-less amicably and set aside, then no harm, no foul, and we all go home happy. If vandalism persists, the admins may enforce a cool-down period by blocking the offending party or parties for a period between a few days and two weeks. ==Page Protection Policy== ''Again, all decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, but here are the guidelines I start with.'' --[[User:AssistantWikifag|AssistantWikifag]] 03:04, 9 September 2012 (BST) Pages that seem to attract spammers or vandals and are otherwise not changing may be protected so that only registered users with a few edits under their belt may edit them. Since we want to be friendly to our anonymous contributors, we will try to limit the use of this option, and make protections temporary as much as possible. If you are an anonymous contributor and want to change a protected page, you can suggest it on the talk page or, if it is a talk page that is protected, suggest it to one of the [http://1d4chan.org/index.php?title=Special:ListUsers&group=sysop administrators].
