'''Ashiok''' is a [[planeswalker]] who lacks gender and most of its skull. It rips nightmares out of people's heads and makes them manifest in reality, like a total dick. Ashiok's possibly an [[aetherborn]], possibly from Amonkhet. On Theros, the spooky nonbinary smoke monster used a campaign of nightmares to trick two opposing kingdoms into a devastating war, earning it a spooked look from the god of deceit and causing a tiny bit of its cheek to fade into more smoke.

Ashiok returned to Theros in Theros: Beyond Death. Torturing [[Elspeth Tirel]] with visions of her nightmares and fears, Ashiok tormented the fallen champion as she attempted to escape the underworld. In doing so, though, Ashiok learned about the existence of [[Phyrexia]], and the living nightmares that spawned from it. Since "living nightmare" is kind of its job description, Ashiok is now actively trying to find [[New Phyrexia]] to learn about and from them.
