At the beginning, there were two fa/tg/uys. They decided they wanted to play some WH40k, but wanted to make some changes. Then, GM decided he'd rather run something easier on the rules, and the other one suggested 7th Sea. And thus, WH7th has been born. == Setting Changes == At the beginning, there was the Imperium, going on about their business as usual. Then, somewhere around the 999.M41, some Chaos warriors decided they were fed up with Failbaddon the Aemless constant lack of success and started up what was later named as The Great Chaos Schism. And boy, did things when south of FUBAR from there... * Schizmatics preached, that, while leader should have favour of all four of the Chaos Gods, warriors should make their choices for patron God. Since they were more than happy to work with pretty much everyone except Black Legion, up to and including Iron Warriors, it was pretty obvious for everyone they meant it more of a "fuck the Black Legion losers" way than genuine requirement. * They were also voicing the opinion that one of the most important part of the Warmaster is to make sure each and every group of soldiers to be put where they can be of maximum usefulnes for the overall war effort. Apparently, they read "Sun Tzu's war advice for complete idiots". * Basically, most of their points could be boiled down to "Screw the Failbaddon, let's go and wreck the Imperium". * Point is, they actually managed to open other portal, known as the Second Eye, deep within Imperial territory, and launch surprise assault on several of the lightly-protected, but economically important, systems and worlds. * At the same time, Tyranids decided it was a good moment to omnomnomnom some more systems, and dedicated most of the hive-fleet Leviathan to consume dinner made of Imperial resources. Apparently, it was rather tasty. * And of course, Drukharii wouldn't be themselves if they didn't seize the opportunity to raid, pillage and do all the fun things the psychotic bastards so love to inflict upon others. * Orks decided they will not be left out of fun, and under command of Gorgutz 'Ead 'Unter they started new, massive WAAAGH. And, since both Gabriel Angelos and Davian Thule were currently busy elsewhere, he actually succeeded. When Ghazghkull learned about this, he decided it's time to stop playing with Yarrick and led another, bigger WAAAGH. For some time, two Warbosses raced across galaxy, raiding, burning, slaughtering and simply having fun times. * With attacks coming from pretty much everywhere at the same time, Imperium dedcided it was time to stop fucking around and throw all it's military might around. It went... as one might expect. Within standard terran year, they lost approximately 25% of their territory (both to invaders, secessions, and few Exterminatuses too many), and higher eshelons (to say nothing of ground-level grunts) were pretty much decimated. * Primarchs decided it was time to step up and stop playing hide-and-seek. Lion finaly woke up from his nap, only to have The Rock handed to him, when it turned out that while his enemies were still horde of raving lunatics, they were horde of raving lunatics UNDER MENAGEMENT. And that made a hell of a difference. * Few other Primarchs (Dorn, Jagatai, Russ, Vulkan and Girlyman, to be precize) also returned and couldn't do much, not with Imperium's oversized bureocracy tying them up in red tape, having way too much fronts at the same time to efficiently coordinate defensive efforts, or learning what kind of unholy abomination of fanatism and superstition has become their Imperium. Corax didn't show up, too busy being Big E's Greater Demon, while Ferrus and Sanguinus decided they were dead and happy with it and refused to join party. * While Schizmatics weren't stronger than what Failbaddon could muster, their leader forced them into acting like a semi-coherent army (while still being a horde of raving maniacs we all know and love) by sending them wherever their strengths were suited most. Thus, Schizmatic forces were able to inflict significantly higher damage on the Imperium (well, this, and everyone else was also taking potshots at humanity). * Seeing as traditional response of "throw more screaming fanatics at problem until it goes away" is not working, High Lords of Terra decided it might be a good idea to try a different approach, before losses will force them to cut on the number of dishes during meeting. And so, they agreed to listen to High Lord Inquisitor Lucius when he presented his plan. * Lucius was leader of new faction within the Inquisition, calling themselves the Reformers, who called for actual alliance with some xeno races in order to push Chaos back, while at the same time he recommended granting Primarchs power to go above red tape in order to start taking names and kicking sorry butts of invaders. While at first it was taken as exactly as riddiculous as one could expect, it soon turned out that Lord Lucius was not speaking out of his ass. He did manage to get in touch with several groups of seemingly-minded individuals, both within Imperium, and among xenos. For example, with help of Rogue Trader Dynasty Corazone, who managed to establish trade relations with Nemesor Zahndrekh, he got contact with Necrons, strenghtened even further by assistance of Inquisitor Helynna Valeria and her penpal, Trazyn the Troll. * After lots of bitching, and several further losses, HLoT gave up and agreed to Lucius plan. And guess what, when talented military commanders started making decisions on their own, instead of following bureocrats, they suddenly started winning. How has that happened? * In the meantime, Lucius brokered an agreement between Imperium, several Necron dynasties and few Aeldari craftworlds (yup, knife-eared bastards decided to play nice for once. Apparently, someone managed to explain to them, that allies are more useful if you do not try to backstab them for shit and giggles. Who'd have thought about that?). * Our favourite Space Commies in the meantime were working hard to reestablish some coherent goverment after Farsight decided to stop fucking around and showed Shadowsun evidence of Etherals dickery. Once she learned the reasons of his "treason", she decided to join him instead (same as Kais, who was around just because it would be a damn shame not to have all three students of Puretide go on an AWESOME road trip). Of course, it couldn't go easy with the Control Freak Caste, but with most of their military against them, there wasn't really much that they could do. * Once revolution ended, T'au decided to go down an easy way of taking care of internal unrest, and went about some serious expansion. Using assistance from their vassal races, they finally managed to get some warp-based FTL capabilities (so now they could also experience all of those nice demons dwelling in the Sea of Souls firsthand. Fun times ahead!) and decided that Imperium problems meant they finally got their 15 seconds of fame, grabbing up as many sytems as they could. * With T'au activities effectively securing their flank (after all, they were attacking enemies that, up until now, were keeping Imperial forces tied up), Imperial armies were able to force a stalemate and secure their new borders. * While actual peace and prosperity were still pretty much impossible to achieve, Lucius and his sidekicks decided that it's high time to start working on some internal reforms, in order to boost productivity and ensure internal stability. Who'd have thought something like this would work? * Fast forward a hundred years, and the Imperium is still struggling to maintain some sort of stability, but things seems to be looking up. While the losses were significant even on the Imperial scale, losses that some of the most die-hard fanatics and zealots took during Schizm meant that some of the other, more level-minded voices could actually be heard. Along with Reformers among Inquisition, there were also Moderates among Cult Mechanicus (who believe that technology should serve Man, rather than be a goal in itself), and Humanitarians within Ecclesiarchy (who says that it's church's role to help people instead of brainwashing them into mindless zealots), though the latter are rather small fraction, with not much of the pull in the gran scheme of things - bishops and co. are the main bastion of the "old ways", and their trusted Nuns with Guns are very much as fanatic as they always were. There is a new Order or two, created in last decades, but it is still not enough for new fraction to be heard. Imperial Guard, Navy and Space Marines chapters are also undergoing a slow, but steady reforms, mainly thanks to returned Primarchs and afflux of new blood in the decimated officer cadre. * Necrons are divided as usual - some will go on to kill all the life in galaxy, some will engage in internal politics andd backstabbing between Dynasties, and some are still buddies of the Reformators-led alliance. * Same goes for Aeldari of all kinds. With the sole exception of Drukhari, who never decided to abandon old ways of "maim, rape, mutilate", eldars are working on bringing about some serious change to the situation of their gods. Craftworlders who allied themselves with Reformators are still doing their best not to fuck them out of the pure dickery, and are actually finding out it seems to be working. They are almost as surprised as the Imperials by that. ===A few final notes=== * Exodites are much, much more badass than what GW got us used to. Whoever tries to invade their world soon learns that it's pretty bad idea to land on a planet where EVERYTHING and their dog can mutate to a murderkiller form withing few moments, and most of these things can also burrow to survive orbital strike. Oh, and if needed, they can morph some of their forest to a planetary-scale cannon, shooting kilometer-long wraithbone-infused trees at void-faring cathedrals, in case someone was more persistent. Think "Empire Strikes Back" and Hoth's ion canon, just made of wraithbone-infused trees, scaled up to WH40k scale, and capable of piercing voidship. And if killer trees are not enough, well then, freaking space elves riding dinosaurs are way too awesome to be just swept away by whoever feels like protagonist of the newest Black Library novel. * Ynnari are not a thing. Girlyman does not have his Eldar waifu, but space elves are actually working on improving situation of their pantheon. And are not exactly a dying race as much as are really stretched thin (pun intended) and really, REALLY need some support to rebuild something instead of simply existing without hopes of any improvement. * And YES, Davian, Gabriel and Gorgutz are not the only ones from Dark Crusade to be around. LCB did happen. And we pretty much ignore Taldeer's fate from DOW II. Macha is Taldeer's sis, though not as desperate as most of /tg/ would make us believe, nor in love in Angelos. And YES, Lofn is around, because Dawww. == Character Creation == * 3 Attribute points to spend as preferred * 1 Background - provides 5 points in Skills * 1 Archetype - provides 5 points in skills * 1 Background or Universal Quirk * 1 Archetype or Universal Quirk * 5 Skill points to spend as preferred * 15 Advantages points to spend as preferred * 1 Virtue and 1 Hubris == Dramatis Personae == * Holt Corazone - Holt<br/> Nobleborn/Rogue Trader [character sheet's address] * Aleera Taldani - Aleera<br/> * * * * * *
