whfb-stubNeedsImages In Warhammer Fantasy and its sequel, Chaos Marauders are the lowly fodder of the Chaos armies. Since the badass, heavily-armored, steroid-abusing super-vikings can't do it all on their own, Chaos Marauders fill out the ranks. Like the Chaos Warriors themselves, they play into various "horny Viking" tropes, and in fact do so even more than the Chaos Warriors given their horned, open-faced helmets, Fantasy Barbarian-esque aversion to clothing that isn't made of animal furs, love of raiding, and the fact that all of them seem to have beards. As you can guess, they have a high turnover rate, with the "lucky" ones getting the dubious honor of becoming Chaos Warriors proper. =Semi-Official= Back in 6th edition, when Games Workshop was awesome, White Dwarf featured an article on the Norse colonists of Lustria (somewhere around issue #309, but we all know that WD numbering got a little weird between countries). As part of this, it offered Chaos players two new character choices for their Hordes of Chaos armies; the Skeggi Marauder Lords and Aspiring Champions. Marauder Lords of Skeggi are Mortal Lords who cost 195 points. They have Movement 4, Weapon Skill 8, Ballistic Skill 3, Strength 5, Toughness 5, Wounds 3, Initiative 8, Attacks 5, and Leadership 9. They come with a Hand Weapon, Light Armor, and a Mark of Chaos Undivided as standards, with the following options: * Great Weapon (+6 points) * Additional Hand Weapon (+6 points) * Flail (+3 points) * Shield (+3 points) * Magic Items (Common or Chaos) up to 100 points. * May swap the Mark of Chaos Undivided for the Mark of Khorne (+40 points), Slaanesh (+25 points), Nurgle (+50 points) or Tzeentch (+140 points). * May ride either a Warhorse (+14 points), a Cold One (+45 points) or in a Mortal Chariot of Chaos by displacing one of the crew. Marauder Aspiring Champions of Skeggi are Mortal Heroes who cost 65 points. They have Movement 4, Weapon Skill 6, Ballistic Skill 3, Strength 5, Toughness 4, Wounds 2, Initiative 6, Attacks 3, and Leadership 8. They come with a Hand Weapon, Light Armor, and a Mark of Chaos Undivided as standards, with the following options: * Great Weapon (+4 points) * Additional Hand Weapon (+4 points) * Flail (+2 points) * Shield (+3 points) * Magic Items (Common or Chaos) up to 50 points. * May swap the Mark of Chaos Undivided for the Mark of Khorne (+35 points), Slaanesh (+20 points), Nurgle (+40 points) or Tzeentch (+70 points). * May ride either a Warhorse (+14 points), a Cold One (+45 points) or in a Mortal Chariot of Chaos by displacing one of the crew.
