Clhuran the Fickle is one of the five Amaranthine associated with the Birdfolk races of the Humblewood setting for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. Infamously unpredictable, this mercurial god's normally pleasant demeanor can shift to melancholy or jealousy at a moment's notice. Like the other birdfolk Amaranthine, Clhuran is a racial patron - in his case, to the innately magical Lumas. Worship amongst him by other races tends to focus on either his aspect as god of magic or as god of luck. Arcane spellcasters, seers, and fortune tellers pray to Clhuran for insight into the will of the universe. Bards, artists, and writers also pay homage to Clhuran, because of his wild moods and connection to emotion. They hope to follow their fate to events of great import, which may be immortalized by their art. The key to understanding Clhuran, as much as that's possible, is to understand that he embodies the contradictory nature of fate. In his teachings, there is no such thing as "good luck" or "bad luck"; there is merely the will of the universe, and the wisdom or skill to feel the pull of possibility and act in accordance. Even what seems like misfortune can, if you wait long enough, turn out to be a blessing in disguise. This fickleness is central to his various myths and stories. ==Depiction== Clhuran is often depicted as a pair of pigeons or doves, perfect twins save that one is brightly colored and dressed up as a marrote-wielding, bangled and belled jester, and the other is darkly colored and dressed up as an axe-wielding executioner. ==Dogma== Fortune will not always favor you, but live each moment to the fullest, for it is where you are meant to be.
