The most common troops of the [[Fallen Angels]], the Fallen are the descendants of those who backed [[Luther|Luther's]] cause during the [[Horus Heresy]]. As such, they are hunted down and reviled by the deepest inner circles of the [[Dark Angels]]. Unfortunately for the Dark Angels, the Fallen are a tricky bunch to catch, often twisting the Unforgiven's nipples to no end. They are often led by a [[Fallen Champion]], who functions as a Captain or Sergeant equivalent.

During the events of Gathering Storm, Cypher and his cohorts of Fallen freed [[Roboute Guilliman|Grandpa Smurf]] from being turned into [[Kairos Fateweaver|Kairos Fateweaver's]] personal bitch on board a [[Blackstone Fortress]]. They joined the [[Harlequins]] to escort the [[Primarch]] and his forces to [[Holy Terra]] itself. Unfortunately for the Fallen, Big Bobby G [[Not as Planned|double-crossed Cypher's forces because Girlyman was suspicious of the]] [[Lion El'Jonson|mysterious sword that Cypher was holding.]] Proving himself once again as 40K's Houdini, Cypher alone managed to escape [[Holy Terra|the most heavily defended planet in the entire galaxy]] along with its complement of [[Adeptus Custodes|the Emperor's finest]] (he left the rest of the Fallen to rot).

The Fallen are equipped with a multitude of weapons to assist them in combating the varied threats of the Galaxy. In some ways, they are the equivalent of the [[Space Marine]] [[Tactical Squad]], although they can be much more heavily equipped than one. Up to four Fallen may replace their [[Astartes Boltgun|Bolter]] with either a [[Flamer]], [[Heavy Bolter]], [[Meltagun]], [[Plasma Gun]], a [[Combi-weapon|Combi-Weapon]], or [[Power Weapon]]s, while one may take a weapon from the Heavy or Special Weapons lists. All in all, the Fallen are well equipped to fend off innumerable threats to compensate for their much smaller forces. Likewise, because they are still the same fighting force as they were during the Legionary days, the Fallen wear a whole sleuth of older, rare and decommissioned power armour such as the [[Mark II: Crusade Armour]], [[Mark III: Iron Armour]], [[Mark IV: Maximus Armour]] and [[Mark V: Heresy Armour]]. Although a few have scavenged bits and pieces from the more modern [[Mark VII: Aquila Armour]] during raids. The only real downside is that the Fallen have no way of taking Dedicated Transports... at least in the Chaos Space Marine Codex. You can just use the vanilla Space Marine Codex and replace <CHAPTER> with <FALLEN>, thereby having an entire force with the Fallen keyword, letting you use a Dedicated Transport with them and fucking with the Dark Angels everywhere. Though you can't use anything DA exclusive if you do this or have Cypher as an HQ. In addition, Cypher and the Fallen have the <CHAOS> keyword in addition to the <IMPERIUM> keyword while holding no specific advantages over the First Legion. With that in mind, it might make more sense to [[Counts As|play them as Dark Angels successors.]]
