A '''Hippocampus''' is a seahorse in a more literal sense originating from [[Greek Mythology]], they are seafaring equines with a [[merfolk]] style body structure, having the forequarters of a horse (often with flipper-like hooves) and the thrashing tail of a fish for its hindquarters. Whilst not as famous as the [[pegasus]] or [[hippogriff]], it has made its way into various fantasy settings, and is often the mount of choice for aquatic races, especially those who have legs instead of tails, such as [[triton]]s or [[Aquatic Elf|sea elves]].
