The Machine God is a Lie. The Emperor is a liar. There is only one truth, and that truth is the Primordial one. The gods showed me the future through the veil of night, a future that lies in the understanding of technology, and only by harnessing the energies of the Warp will our progress be assured.'' - excerpt from the teachings of the True Mechanicum, suppressed '''Koriel Zeth''' was a high ranking Magos of the Martian Mechanicum at the time of the Great Crusade. One of the Lords of Mars, from her domain of the Magma City she ruled one of the great forges of Sacred Mars and was one of the Fabricator-Generals greatest rivals. A Master Innovator and inventor of dozens of highly advanced systems such as the Noosphere, she did not believe in the Omnissiah, unlike most of her kin. Though her greatest work, the Akashic Reader she stumbled upon the Primordial Truth of Chaos and became the first of the Dark Mechanicum, and would bring blood, fire and ruin to Mars and to the Mechanicum during the Heresy. ==Appearance and Personality== Koriel Zeth, unlike many of her counterparts retained a largely human figure, appearing as a warrior-woman clad in bronze and red. She was lithe and muscular, her armour designed to enhance her natural form as opposed to replacing it. An armoured head mask and large goggles covered her face at all times. She was always wreathed in a delicate mist of atomised perfume. Many within the Mechanicum considered her a deviant for embracing her human form instead of replacing it, but she saw Humanity as the ultimate ideal, and the Machine as merely enhancing it, not replacing it. To her, the human condition could never be replicated or replaced by technology. When she fell to Chaos, her form remained, but became more feral, like a barbarian amazon. When she ascended in the wake of the Heresy, she became a being of molten metal, though still bearing the form of a beautiful woman. Her ideals also changed, as she worked towards perfecting the fusion of Machine and Daemon and saw the human form as incomplete, one which needed to be replaced with cold iron and hot warpcraft. Zeth almost alone among the great Lords of Mars did not believe in the Machine God, either on his own or as an aspect of the Emperor. To her, the Emperor’s mastery of technology and his refutation of superstition and religion was a shining beacon for the future. She privately heaped scorn on her counterparts who in the face of this still embraced their blind faith in an ancient, non-existent god. ==A Lord of Mars== Koriel Zeth was a minor Techpriest of Olympus Mons when she was taken on by the great Adept Cayce, who was in turn educated by Adept Laszlo, the ancient archeotechnician who spent much of the Age of Strife exploring the ruins of old earth, seeking out the remnants of the great technologies left behind by the Golden Men of Terra. It was his discoveries of ancient methods of energy transference, atomic restructuring, chemical engineering and the evolution of human cognition and communication that were passed down to Zeth, and which awakened her hunger for the progress they promised. She explored and furthered these Technologies, eventually discovering the secrets of noospheric technology. It was this that gave her the Position of Archmagos and dominion of the Magma City, where she could further these technologies for the benefit of all Mars. Though her dislike of the Fabricator General was well known, she accepted his offer and once in place continued to work on her developments. But secretly she was also working on another thing, one which would make her the greatest of all the Mechanicum, greater than the Fabricator General and the saviour of all mankind. ==The Akashic Reader== ''The Akashic is the key to the sum of all knowledge. With it, I will be able to lift the Imperium into a golden age of scientific progress not seen since the Dark Age of Technology. All we have lost will be found again. All we can be, we will be again. '' - Koriel Zeth, before the first test of the Akashic Reader One of the most intriguing of all the records discovered by Laszlo was the postulation of a nexus of all knowledge, a place where all the knowledge that man had ever found in all of recorded and unrecorded history was stored. Zeth continued to study this, only to find evidence this nexus was real, and located inside the other dimension where ships travelled: the Warp. The Warp was a realm of thought and emotion, and all the great discoveries of man were also preserved there. If one could access those records, then everything man had ever discovered, the technology that had made man into a race of gods during the dark age of Technology, all would be revealed and accessible. This became Zeth’s obsession. Throughout the Great Crusade, as her forges continued to experiment with Noospheric Technology for Forges and Taghmata forces fighting in the distant Stars, Zeth continued to search for a way to access the Akashic Records. All her experiments proved to be failures, until she was able to secretly obtain Psykers from the Black Ships. This move was dangerous, as she did not know if the Lords of Terra would be pleased with her investigations, but she was at an impasse and needed a breakthrough. Those psykers were lined into a machine, the Akashic Reader, which would allow her to access the Akashic records and learn that which the golden men of the past understood without the need for the dogma and superstition that the rest of the Mechanicum were shackled to. She would break those shackles and free the Mechanicum from ignorance and superstition. Finally Zeth was able to get her machine to work, even if briefly and never able to properly reach the Akashic. But once she gained outside help from a number of volunteers from across the Galaxy, including several from earth, as well as an Empath Psyker, she was finally able to make the breakthrough she desired. She also found the ideal power source for her machine, the raw undiluted power of the Astronomican. Though using that power would disrupt the Astronomican, possibly causing untold damage to ships trying to traverse the Warp. However to Zeth the risk was worth it, anything was worth it to reach the Akashic Records and find the truth. She would be the saviour of all humankind. ==The Primordial Truth== When the Akashic Reader was activated, it worked better than anything she could have imagined. Though the power level was higher than anticipated, it punched through the Warp and Zeth went into the chamber to be the first to see the Akashic. But when she walked into the blinding light that filled the Akashic Chamber, she instead found herself confronted by something else. None now know if the Reader was aligned wrong, or if the powers of the Warp knew and were waiting for her, but Zeth found her source of Knowledge, but it wasn’t what she was expecting. In the blink of an eye the Gods spoke to her, the primordial truth was revealed. Chaos was the source of all knowledge, and it offered her a glimpse of what it could give her. Power beyond imagining, the Warp fused to the Machine, infernal intelligences driving leviathans of metal, communication across space and time. Her belief that there were no gods was destroyed, and with that realization she embraced this new learning. Zeth emerged from the Akashic Chamber filled with dark power and darker knowledge. She immediately began to spread her teachings secretly through the upper echelons of her Forge. The gods had shown her Hektor’s fall, and she set to work laying down the groundwork so that Mars would be his when the time came for war.
