Ephor '''Maranthos Egille''' was a member and commander of the [[Wolves of Dawn|First Legion]], remarkable for his use of land speeders and bikes to bring swift victory. His grand successes and deep loyalty to his [[Hektor Cincinnatus|Primarch]] would see him becoming one of the reforming officers of the [[Heralds of Hektor]]. He would join Hektor Cincinnatus in damnation, becoming a Champion of Slaanesh.

Born into privilege and status, Maranthos Egille stood among the foremost elite of the Merican Hives. His father realized the potential of the Emperor and his Imperium, moving his entire family into the fledgling realm before even the advent of the Adeptus Astartes. '''Malcador the Sigilite''' hand picked Maranthos to serve as part the First Legion. This was due to the child's aptitude in military trials, and genetic stability. During the course of his training, the young Egille would spar with the Hektor who despite being several years Egille's junior could easily trounce him on the battle mat. 

Maranthos served admirably in his former homeland, conquering the Merican Hives with his fellow battle brothers. On Luna, he took part but made no glory for himself. It would not be until the Great Crusade pressed on into the stars that he would mark himself as formidable commander. Given a position as a Company Commander, Maranthos used the available landspeeders to rapidly hunt down elite enemies with frightening speed. Defeating these crucial members of an opponent's army would demoralize them, normally allowing this mobile vanguard to carry on the attack. Thanks to this opportunity opened up the rest of his forces could press the advantage.

Maranthos Egille became known under the title he earned for his weapon of choice - a power-weapon tipped spear. The energy it crackled with created a pale light that could sometimes bathe a battlefield with its surge. In the Crusade, it became a common sight as a lance of sorts upon fast moving bikes that worked in concert with landspeeders to bring fast death to their foes. On Terra herself he was known as a notable public figure of the Legion, as he was quite active in the civilian sphere preforming numerous works to promote relations between the Imperial military and its populace.
