Monty Python is a British comedy group that has made sketch comedy in a variety of movies, plays and television shows. The group specialized in absurdist comedy mixed with dry humor, with many of their sketches bleeding seamlessly into one another as each show progressed. The sketches they have performed are often referenced by other groups, due to the high quality of their work, and the originality of the situations they involve. A huge portion what is referenced at some point and is ostensibly funny directly-references either their show (Monty Python's Flying Circus), their movies (Life of Brian, Meaning of Life, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail, for example), or their live comedy segments. The only problem is that people, being retards, keep on referencing their material again and again and again until it just feels flat and lifeless. Please, do comedy a favour: Don't make references to Monty Python, <s>unless of course she really did turn you into a newt</s> *BLAM*HERESY!. You are fucking happier for having witnessed any of their bits. This is what talent and competence looks like. Despite this, invoking Monty Python references will get you banned at most tables because of how fucking overused they are. And also because if one person starts doing it then everyone else will too, which actually means Monty Python might arguably qualify as a meme. Potential loophole to the above: It's worth noting that the vast majority of bannable Python quotes deployed today come only from the team's <i>most popular</i> sketches and films. Make no mistake, the Pythons were very much field-testing new and experimental humour in their day (and were often frantically racing to come up with original stuff and perform it before contemporary maniacal genius Spike Milligan thought of it independently and did it first), and a significant amount of their less successful original material (not to mention a good few complete duds) is now largely ignored or outright forgotten. Quote lesser-known Python at your own risk; it may not get you banned, but however else your audience reacts to it will be a total crap-shoot, especially in the presence of that subset of self-proclaimed Python fans who've basically just watched "Grail" and "Brian" and haven't even <i>heard</i> of "Circus." == Some trivia: == 1. Their holy hand grenade is technically canon in 40k. Unsurprisingly, the Black Templars have it. 2. You do not expect the Spanish Inquisition. == Gallery == <gallery> File:Fleshwound.jpeg|This is how a successful FNP-roll looks like. </gallery> == External links == *The Pythons themselves have been quite generous to upload many favorite clips of the show on Youtube. *For those wanting to spend Β£35 on those beautiful models above.
