American :"I've played with it, but I don't think I ever really sat down and played the actual game. How could you? Look at all this stuff. All you want to do is set up the trap and watch it go. Giving a kid a game like this was like giving a madman a loaded gun and a pile of crack." :--Board James, on Mousetrap. MouseTrap is a Roll and Move game featuring almost no decision-making and other features you'd typically see in a board game for mindless kids. Despite this, it became one of the most popular board games, specifically for one of its features, known as the trap. Each player is given a mouse piece and starts from one end from the board. Each player takes turns rolling a dice and moving forward to land on spaces and trying to get as much cheese as possible, and if they land on a Fat Cat, their mouse piece gets sent back to the start. Along the way, there are special build spaces where the players cooperate to build the trap. This trap is effectively just a mini-Rube Goldberg machine that gets activated later, built out of a bunch of weird plastic pieces that are slotted into holes on the game board. At the end of the path is a loop, with a cheese space and a turn crank space. If a player's mouse is in the cheese space, then a player can land on the turn crank space and set off the trap, which ends with the mouse in the cheese space getting trapped under a cage. The winner is the last mouse player not captured in the trap. == But why do we still play it? == Of course! Fuck the game, let's just look at that trap. ===== HEY DO YOU WANT TO PLAY MOUSE TRAP? ===== ===== YEAH! LEMME SET UP THAT TRAP!!! ===== Pk1ue1tolFc ---- Board Games
