A lesser deity amongst their number, he was invented in 3rd edition for the splatbook Races of Stone, but made a surprise leap to full-fledged canon in 5th edition with "Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes". Sadly, as a lesser deity than Moradin, Abbathor, Berronar Truesilver and Clanggedin Silverbeard, no updated information on him was presented, meaning you still had to look back and find out about him online or else own a copy of Races of Stone. Luckily, 1d4chan is here to help. Roknar is unique amongst the Morndinsamman in that he is the only evil dwarf deity accepted within its ranks - well, besides Abbathor. The Tempter, as he is called, claims to be Moradin's brother - a claim that Moradin's clerics refute, stating instead that he is an ancient evil that chose to take on dwarven form and worm its way into the Morndinsamman after it was created. Roknar urges his followers to delve deep into the earth and takes its treasures for themselves. “Power and wealth is all that matters,” teaches Roknar, “and only the weak forego the chance to grab more for themselves.” Avarice, spite and insecurity are Roknar's domains, with his clerics attracting new followers by tempting them with promises of riches and power. In particular, they tend to prey on clans and families that have been the victim of real or perceived injustices. This is made easier through Roknar's willingness to flaunt what he has, a way to prove he can back up his promises. Temples to the Tempter are hidden away, but are invariably opulent to the extreme; riches abound everywhere one looks, with mounds of loot scattered carelessly across the floor in a manner that resembles a dragon hoard. This drives home Roknar's assertation that he has more wealth and power than he can use, and is willing to share that wealth with those who will bend the knee to him. Needless to say, Roknar's followers are avid treasure hunters. The pursuit of loot is a holy calling to them, and Roknar is particularly pleased with followers who decide to make daring heists from dragons or the temples of Moradin. There are few general prayers to the Tempter; Roknar encourages the dark aspirations of his faithful, and so his worship furthers that by instructing his followers to reference their personal goals and ambitions through prayer. One rare example of a generic Roknar prayer is this battle chant: “I’ll have enough wealth to fill the coffer room/And my rivals’ bones will molder in the cave of doom.” Fittingly, Roknar has few religious rites —mostly curses against rivals and pleas for successful subterfuge. Many rites are performed with all the participants cloaked and hooded, so most worshipers don’t know the identity of their fellow followers. Which is sensible given that his worship is outright illegal in dwarf society and even Abbathor has more mainstream respect than Roknar. Roknar’s herald is a fiendish dwarf 10th-level rogue/10th-level blackguard. His allies are shadow mastiffs, hezrou demons, and nalfeshnee demons.
