Technomancer is a setting for GURPS third edition, with a Pyramid article providing fourth edition support. It's the game's Urban Fantasy setting, bordering on modern-day Dungeonpunk. The story goes that during the Trinity atomic bomb tests, a hole was torn open in the fabric of spacetime (later called the Hellstorm), and Robert Oppenheimer spoke the now-famous line, "I am become Death, destroyer of worlds." As it turns out, magic had been returned to the world. == Setting == The setting takes place in the late 90s/early 2000s, and in those 50 years since the Trinity tests, a lot has changed. === Races === Monstergirls Technomancer does away with the standard fantasy selection of Elf, Dorf, Halfling, Goblin, and Orc, instead opting for various flavors of monster girls. * Atomic Lich - The CIA attempted to create artificial mages in 1973 via radioactive bombardment. All of the test subjects died, but not all of them stayed that way. The newly-dubbed "liches" resembled burning skeletons that glowed in the dark, and were rightfully angry at the CIA for killing them. An escape was staged, with predictable results. Some of the liches have been found and disposed of by the CIA, but many remain at large. * Chimera - Chimera is the collective term for six types of half-human, half-desert animal birthed post-Hellstorm. ** Arachnae - Human from the waist up, tarantula from the waist down. ** Canis Latrans - Anthropomorphic coyotes, though their legs bend the same way as a human and they have feet instead of paws. ** Felis - Unlike their coyote relatives, cat chimera are considerably less furry. They possess soft fur, a cat tail, cat ears, and a normal, humanoid face. ** Raptor - Hawk chimera with wings instead of arms, tipped in talons they use to walk. Conversely, their feet are as articulate as hands. This means they're always in a handstand. ** Serpens - Rather typical as far as naga go, with a snake tail instead of legs as well as fangs, a forked tongue, and slit pupils. ** Vulpes - Vulpes are similar to coyote chimera, replacing coyote with fox and adding the ability to magically disguise themselves as humans. * Demon - The consequence of magical accidents or a particularly stupid mage. Summoning them is illegal due to immigration law, though they will go away after a bit. Demons come in every form you could imagine, but a few notable ones are outlined: ** Gremlin - Gremlins are technologically-minded demons, loving to improve or destroy gadgets as they see fit. In addition, they can shrink down to a diminutive size and fly, letting them go inside the machine and wreak even more havoc. ** Hellraker - Big, angry, and very dangerous. ** Malebrachne - Malebrachne are demons that worm their way into someone's life and sow discord. ** Succubus - Hot, horny, and drain life through sex. * Dragon - Here, they're split into blue and black, both originally bred by the US Government for military use. Once a dragon has served twenty years, they're allowed to retire and live life as a (massive, flying, monstrous) citizen. * Halflings - No, not that kind. Here, a halfling is a child of a human and a chimera. ** Half-Cat - They're catgirls. What more do you want. ** Half-Coyote - Dog ears and a fluffy tail, plus claws for good measure. ** Half-Fox - Fox chimera are the archetypal Kitsune β Fox ears and a bushy tail. ** Half-Hawk - Half-hawks are probably the least conspicuous of the half-breeds, simply possessing feathers instead of hair. ** Half-Snake - Half-snakes are, rather unlike their parents, completely humanoid, and trade hair for snakes. The snakes act independently from the person, and can bite. As such, it's not uncommon for half-snakes to shave their heads and then immediately regret it when the cuts get infected and the snakes painfully grow back. ** Half-Spider - Half spiders are human in most aspects save two extra pairs of arms. * Human - You're one of them. * Toxic Zombie - Unlike their magical counterparts, a toxic zombie retains all its intelligence, but runs the risk of turning others into zombies and must eat brains as part of its diet. * Vampire - Vampires come about either through disease or being bitten by another vampire. They stay true to the stories, being undead, nigh-unkillable monsters with a taste for blood.
