Author unknown. ===Planetfall=== It was dark. She had no need to breathe, but the pressure, and where she was now only drove home where she had now found herself. Looking up, she could see the flashes of light rippling across the surface of the water. She had been part of an attack sent towards the Ducal Estate from across the lake; her Tomb had launched an assault, with her and her sisters advancing under a hail of covering fire, their anti-gravity platforms allowing them to cross the water with no real difficulty. The Estate was coming into range; her job was to tear the building's defenses open for her sisters to follow. Her Gauss Cannon fired, disintegrating chunks of the curtain wall, and sending several panicked guardsmen plummeting towards the lake surface. She coordinated her volleys with the other Destroyers, the team moving in unison, gradually whittling down the defenses. The guardsmen weren't able to hit them at this range, and their speed alone gave them an advantage. From here, they could kill with impunity. And then, it was over. A flash of light, a volley of fire cutting through the dark, and the explosion of one of her teammates going up in flames. She had turned just in time to be caught in the volley, seperated almost entirely from her anti-grav platform, and plummeting into the waters, her platform giving little more than a weak growl of protest before the engines kicked out entirely. This wasn't the first time she had falling like this. For all her living metal, though, she couldn't remember when the first time she had done so was. She remembered once, trying to protect her sister, but she could not place her finger on what that entailed, either. Perhaps it was her being partially torn from the devices she was attached to, but she found her thoughts clouded; what was she doing again? Why was it she was going after the humans above? She couldn't remember why they had to die in the first place. Preservative fluid leaked from her broken body, sparks hissing from the broken juncture on her platform. She tried to remember more, but only a handful of details could come to mind: a loving father, a sister, a home. Mostly hazy echoes. She could feel the darkness taking her. She tried to remember other details like that, searching for something - anything - to cling onto. She thought she could vaguely remember a lover once, someone she took comfort in - but even that was hazy and indistinct. The Heavy Destroyer twitched grotesquely as her power systems failed. An eternity later, she awoke. She couldn't remember much of what happened, just a bizarre sense of displacement as her essence was once more transferred into the living metal of a Destroyer chassis. The fact that she was still here, however, angered her. She remembered even less now; she instinctively knew she had lost something in that failure. She wanted it back at all costs, but she could not remember what it was. A profound sense of loss hit her, which was quickly replaced by [[RAGE|rage]]. She quickly found herself ''hating'' the creatures above; hating their stubborn resistance, hating what they had taken from her, and hating herself for being so weak that she had been stopped previously. She had chosen this, ages ago. The destruction of the tomb's enemies were all that mattered now. The Necron Destroyer disconnected from the stasis rig, and moved forward to rejoin the fray once again. [[Category: Stories]]
