Tyche was the original goddess of luck from the Greek Pantheon. =Forgotten Realms History= In the Forgotten Realms she was an interloper from the Greek pantheon, since she was ill-thought of in Olympus and they wanted to get rid of her, so she fled to Faer没n and was primarily worshipped in ancient Netheril before the fall. She would later split into two constituent deities of good luck and bad luck through a devious plot. Tyche bonded naturally with many of the Faer没nian deities and grew into a romance with Lathander. At some point she became bored with the relationship, believing Lathander was growing too serious when she wanted to keep things casual, so she kissed him with misfortune and left him to travel the planes. Later she found an enchanted rose that she thought was an apology gift, she kept it with her, not realising it was actually cursed by Moander, designed to corrupt her. After her travels, she returned to the upper planes and was faced by Lathander, Sel没ne and Azuth who all witnessed the corruption inside of her, but could do nothing to save her. Sel没ne lashed out at Tyche's diseased body and slew her by splitting her down the middle. From the corpse, Tymora was the first to arise, representing everything good about Tyche and greeted the three gods as friends. Beshaba was the second to rise, representing everything that was bad and kicked off a battle between them which continues to rage ever since. <gallery> File:Tyche p131.jpg|Tyche before being cleaved in two. </gallery> ==Tymora== Tymora (also known as Lady Luck) was the goddess of luck and good fortune. She was kind and friendly in attitude, and she encouraged risk-taking and was often revered by the bold and the brave, due to this, she was a patron goddess to adventures and gamblers, who both could use strokes of good luck regularly. she was quite popular, with many churches and temples spanning far. ===History=== Tymora, as well as her sister, was created when Sel没ne split Tyche, the previous god of luck, into two beings. Tymora and Beshaba took on Tyche's aspects of good luck and bad luck respectively. Due to her kind and friendly attitude, Tymora could boast of her many allies amongst the other deities. Tymora also had a few unpleasant relationships with some deities. One unpleasant relationship, for example, was with her sister, Beshaba. Beshaba and Tymora have had an ongoing struggle since they were created, arising from their completely opposite aspects. ===Worshippers=== Those who relied on luck relied on Tymora. People such as adventurers and gamblers, who relied on luck to achieve their respective goals, praised Tymora and her church for the luck they received. Another group of people who worshiped Tymora were Halflings, especially lightfoot Halflings. The Halflings saw Tymora as a Halfling god, due to the fact that she manifested herself as a Halfling to them. The Halflings firmly held this belief, thinking that she had merely tricked the other, taller races into worshiping her. ===Realm=== Tymora inhabited the Gates of the Moon. She moved there after the spellplague and created and connected seven earthmotes. She named this new area "the Great Wheel". on the Great Wheel, gambling and games of chance ran wild. <gallery> File:Tymora p78.jpg </gallery> clear ==Beshaba== Beshaba, The Maid of Misfortune, is the bad part of Tyche that split during the dawn cataclysm. ===History=== Beshaba got all of the good looks of Tyche, but was rotten right to the core. A genuine maneater: all men who meet her gaze are completely driven with lust or become instantly devoted to her. Whilst women become manic in her presence. She is given to random capricious behaviour and bouts of jealousy. She commands that her priesthood be given equal status to her sister Tymora and is placated more than venerated. She is fully capable of turning up uninvited if she chooses and has been masquerading in the name of Shaundakul in the region of Anauroch for ages. The fear of her manifesting during ceremonies dedicated to other gods is enough to make sure that everyone pays at least some level of lip service to her, whilst her clergy continue to perpetuate the fear of her by spreading random acts of wickedness and cruelty about the realms. ===Realm=== Beshaba's realm, called Blood Tor is a single granite tower located on a hill, though the location of the hill changes between editions. The tower is slick with blood of the misfortunate mortals who died in deadly accidents that were the fault of Beshaba. In 4E she moved her realm to Warrior's Rest to be closer to her lover Tempus, because that was a thing for some reason. in 5E she got Blood Tor back, although now it's a layer of the Abyss which she co-rules with Umberlee. <gallery> Beshaba p92.jpg|As they say, evil is sexy Shaundakul RoMD.png|Shaundakul </gallery> clear =Mystaran Tyche= On Mystara, Tyche is one the more ancient Immortals, and is the patroness of luck here as well.
