Background[edit]
Bryophytus was never at the top of his class at the Heptagram, although usually close. Despite great talent for magic, he was a lax student who used his abilities more for his own amusement than anything else, making most of his money selling homegrown 'medicinal remedies' to his fellow students. During a routine visit to the Headmaster's office to discuss retention of his Apprentice's License in the White Registry, he discovered the Headmaster absent and the switch to open a secret passageway to an inner study left in plain view. Descending below, he discovered a woman in Essence-blocking manacles, sobbing that "he'd skinned the last one" and that he'd do the same to her. Upon finding a hooded garment made from suspiciously pale leather, he was inclined to believe her. When the headmaster walked back in, he found her free, and both of them naked.
...it was a mad rush out the window, conjuring an Azure Chariot from the rooftop before the headmaster's conjurings destroyed him. He lost track of the woman in the confusion, but didn't stop his headlong flight south, by spell and boat, until he was safely in Chiarascuro, where he found employment that was almost gainful.
Appearance[edit]
Bryophytus is a young man a hair below six feet in height, with a slender build and pale, green-white skin. His hair is a mass of deep green curls, sticking out in all directions like fronds, with an easy smile and dark, moss-green eyes, all the product of fine Cynis ancestry. He's quite amiable, despite the princely cast to his features (also a product of fine Cynis breeding). He favors calf-length saffron robes, split for riding, over pale orange trousers tucked into sturdy walking boots. He's seldom seen without his favorite cape, a hanging piece of scarlet, metallic cloth attached to ornamental bronzed pauldrons shaped in a fluted pattern, and clasped with a pale-blue gem in a setting of green Jade. He wears a copper-worked hip quiver full of arrows at his belt, and when forced into combat favors a mundane but exceptionally-crafted bow.
