The idea was to simply provide more mobility to dismounted TOW teams rather than have a dedicated missile-armed tank destroyer, which were believed to be too noisy and conspicuous on the battlefield. After the Yom Kippur war when mounted ATGM vehicles and dismounted ATGM teams worked in coordination to devastate Israeli tank companies, the US changed its tune and quickly replaced their M150s with M901s. | |||
