Eragon

Eragon is the titular character in the Inheritance Novels. He is also a Mary Sue.

While the books are all pretty good Eragon himself is a medieval rip off of Luke Skywalker, copying his story in damn near every way, except for the occasional flash of original stuff.

Eragon: He begins the series as a farm boy with no real distinguishing characteristic, other then that he's been living with his uncle Rowan and cousin all his life since his parents are dead. His home is destroyed by the empire after he finds a dragon egg and a local story teller Brom who just happens to know nearly everything about the Dragon Riders takes him on a journey to become a rider and join the Varden.

He learns how to read and write, becomes an unstoppable swordsmen and even begins to learn magic. All the while growing closer to his Dragon Saphira(which is pretty much the only original thing about it).

Luke Skywalker: He was raised on a farm by his aunt and uncle after because his parents both died. He lives like this until his uncle and him come by someone droids carrying information vital to the rebellion. His home is destroyed by the empire and Luke goes on a journey to become a Jedi with the help of an old hermit by the name of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Describing the main events of the first two books is basically retelling Star Wars episodes 4 and 5.

There was also an exceedingly shitty movie and video game based off of the series made in 2006. Fortunately for all concerned, a sequel is impossible due to how badly 20th century fox fucked up the progression. He also becomes a half-elf near the end of book 2, lives among elves throughout book 2 and has a crush on the elf princess.

He also has a cousin, Roran, who cannot use magic, has a manly beard, fights with a hammer and is quite possibly the character with the most pragmatism in the whole series.
