A race created by the Primordials to serve as high-calorie feed for their slave gods. They come in many varieties, some of which have become extinct in the development process, deemed failed designs. Mortals compose the grand majority of the inhabitants of Creation.
Protips
- Lack any magic ability to start with, but have limited ability to learn (Terrestrial) Sorcery, (Terrestrial) Martial Arts and Thaumaturgy.
- Highly susceptible to disease. Cannot staunch bleeding through exertion of will.
- All of your mechanics are nerfed into the ground to make Exalted Charms look more awesome by comparison.
- Eligible for Exaltation, provided suitably heroic deeds, such as surviving day-to-day in the nightmare dystopia that is Creation.
- This should be obvious, but mortals are not meant to be used in mixed parties; every other splat is more powerful than them
- If you are playing a mortal, always make sure they have a martial art or sorcery (or at least Thaumaturgy); you are even more screwed than usual without them.
- Since a majority of enemies in the setting were designed with Exalted in mind, your Storyteller will need to be careful what monsters are thrown at the party; things intended to be mooks for Solars to slaughter by the dozen will still result in a TPK 99.9% of the time.
