There were numerous Noble Houses, which historically granted titles Sidhe-only (Stupid, Pretty Sidhe), but ever since the whole Accordance War, several Commoners have been raised to the ranks of nobility. Being associated with a House is sort of like being a Prestige Class, in that you get an extra bonus, and a corresponing flaw; that said, many flaws tend to only apply to Sidhe of said house. Some bonus/flaw merits are obviously better than others, because hey, this game wasn't 100% balanced. :3
Do note that while houses may be Seelie or Unseelie, there are members of both courts in each house, exceptions being made for Houses Balor and Gwydion. There are Unseelie Dougal or Seelie Ailil as an example.
The Seelie Houses
Beaumayn:
Dougal: The technohouse, sometimes jokingly called an entire House of Spock. The Dougal learned how to weave Glamour into steel, making it safe for Changelings to use, and are the ones most likely to embrace future-tech. However, they tend to be very straightforward and honest in politics, and tend to leave Gwydion to do most the actual ruling.
- Boon: Dougal are very strong-willed and are renowned for their ability to weave Glamour into everything they do. As a result, they may Convert temporary Glamour to temporary Willpower.
- Bane: Sidhe born into this house have a Chimerical disability of some sort, such as missing a Chimerical Hand or Chimerical Eye; they usually build chimerical prostheses to compensate.
Eliuned: Imagine Severus Snape. Imagine he was an Elf. Imagine there was an entire Noble House of Snape Elves. Now you have House Eliuned. These guys are very sneaky, very magicky, and tend to go for the very antiheroic.
- Boon: Eliuned are expert sorcerers. All Cantrips they cast gain an automatic success. Additionally, they may swith between Seelie and Unseelie legacies at will.
- Bane: Overwhelmingly curious, the Eliuned must spend Willpower to avoid getting entangled in plots and conspiracies. Additionally, they add +1 to the difficulty of *all* Social Rolls, due to being untrustworthy.
Fiona: Think Elf Toreador and you're not too far off. Fiona are excessive in most everything they do, and love their food, drink, sex, drugs, art, etc. Especially their love though...Flonne from Disgaea would be a Fiona, to put this in context.
- Boon: The Fiona are super-duper courageous. All attempts to generate fear in them fail, save for one exception. Should the loved one of a Fiona be threatened, then the attempt to generate fear may be made as normal.
- Bane: Fiona live dangerously. Everything they do becomes dangerous. They could find a way to make bowling lethal, due to their Bane. Additionally, they tend to get romantically attracted to the "wrong" people. Pimps, panderers, crime bosses, goths, furries...Fiona are not exactly smart when it comes to love.
Gwydion: Also known as the most Seelie of Houses, Gwydion tends to hold the most power in Changeling Society. They are arrogant rulers to a fault.
- Boon: Being the leaders of all, the Gwydion can use Detect Truth at will. By rolling Perception+Kenning at difficulty equal to the target's Willpower, they can sort out lies. Those of House Eliuned are immune to this ability for some unknown reason.
- Bane: Gwydion are prone to go "DURR! RIP AND TEAR!" Should a Gwydion suffer any injury, they must make a difficulty 5 willpower roll or go into a berserk frenzy, where they attack the nearest target always (Friend or foe) until incapacitated. On the bright side, they ignore all wound penalties until then.
Liam: Also known as an entire House of Patrick Stewart. The Liam are those that believe, more so than the rest, in improving the quality of human life, and tend to work most in normal human jobs. Others work with religious reformers (or become monks), humanitarian societies, or become cops. They aren't really popular with Changeling Society as a result.
- Boon: Due to their ties with humanity, they have -1 difficulty on all rolls to affect mortals (be it Cantrips, Enchanting, or regaining Glamour).
- Bane: Liam Sidhe start with an extra point of Banality, and oaths they craft may be broken by the other party without the punishment affecting them (however, should the Liam break their Oaths, they are punished like normal). Liam are generally held in contempt.
The Unseelie
Aesin: Part of The Second Coming, the Aesin are Norse asshats pretty much. Runemagic, and might make
Ailil:
- Boon: -1 difficulty to all Manipulation rolls.
- Bane: Must make a Willpower 8 roll to ever admit they're wrong. Should they back down from a challenge, they have +1 difficulty to all social rolls until they find a new challenge to clear their name.
Balor: Those of Balor are pretty much always Unseelie, and tend to be outright corrupted. You see, those of House Balor are partial descendants of the Fomorians, ancient evils under the ocean that seek to destroy/conquer the world. They actively court alliances with Nephandi, Black Spirals, Fomori and every other "bad guy" group, but are curiously respected for their ability to keep Faerie Trods safe from extradimensional dwellers. So they also have a reputation of keeping the Dreaming safe and secure...
- Boon: Due to their Fomorian Blood, Cold Iron does not cause them banality gain or glamour loss. Many of House Balor enjoy using Cold Iron weapons.
- Bane: Those of House Balor have one notable deformity (no tongue, glowing eyes, etc), and additionally can never have Willpower greater than 6.
Daireann:
- Boon: Daireann are skilled warriors, and have -1 difficulty to all rolls to Invoke the Dragon's Ire. Additionally, they may retreat when they wish, but always do so in a professional manner.
- Fault: Daireann suffer from Bond Villain Syndrome; they cannot keep a secret when bragging at all. They'll even give away secret like the nature of the Geas they are under, their one weakness, etc.
Leanhaun:
- Boon: Leanhaun Sidhe gain +1 Charisma, -1 difficulty to seduction rolls, and cannot botch Seduction Rolls. All Leanhaun gain 3 glamour points/success on a successful Rhapsody check.
- Bane:
Varich:
Neutral
Scathach:
- Boon: The Scathach are known for martial prowess, and add +1 die to all Melee and Brawl Rolls. Additionally, they have -1 difficulty to all Stealth Rolls. They are also entitled to learn their own form of Fightan Magic.
- Bane: May not learn Sovereign; additionally, they have +2 difficulty to all social rolls with Changelings (+4 when dealing with staunch Royalists), except for Sidhe of Liam, Fiona, Ailil, or Beaumayn.
