Background
“It’s… a girl.” Silence. In a small cabin three gunslingers stood silent over a fresh born babe. The father grinds his teeth. His only heir could not carry his name, and could not be a gunslinger. He is mad, to say the least.
“Damn’it… damn’it…
Kapang!
Damn’it! Girl if you can’t be a gunslinger you can at least be a decent shot!” He shouts to his daughter, now 16 and awkwardly holding a fine shooting iron. Her hair is cut short and she wears boys clothing, but her face is too pretty. She cannot hide this. She fumbles with the rounds as she reloads hastily “Sorry sir!” “Don’t you sorry me! You fire six goddamn shots and hit the damn thing once!” he takes a swing from his bottle and hefts another brick into his hand. “Again, and if you don’t hit it twice, I fuckin' swear, girl…”
Kapang! Kapang! Kapang!
She sits on a horse now, smoking a shoddily rolled cigarette, watching the sun rise. She is 20 now, and has 4 years of scars and attitude more, and still can’t shake her beauty. Her father is dead now, there is nothing left for her in Delain. She rides to waste.
I’m gonna make your proud, Pa.
