This page details people, events, and organisations from The /tg/ Heresy, a fan re-working of the Warhammer 40,000 Universe.

Summary for newfags

This page is the hub for developing the Space Marine Legions of an alternate 30k 'verse, and most of the sub-pages have details about what becomes of the grand Legions and the Primarchs. Where a developer has been marked as a probable drop-out, feel free to put your hand up on /tg/ to take over developing the Legion.

The Loyalist Legions The Traitor Legions
Name Summary Developer Status Name Summary Developer Status
The Crusaders Do you enjoy endless Crusades, heavy armour, and Thunder Hammers? These guys draw a lot from European crusading orders (yep, not a trick name) and end up getting a lot of the Imperial Fist's jobs. They and their Successors are fairly Codex-approved, though, and they don't really have issues with psykers. active but busy Black Augurs Moustache-twirling villains with more horrific sorcerous rituals than the Emprah's had hot dinners. Eeeevilly active
The Entombed Spookiest of the Loyalists, these dudes have a tragic gene-seed flaw which sees them go entirely extinct. On the way, they cause a lot of ruckus with their Terminators, Dreadnoughts, and unshakeable faith that humanity is a race of gods destined to inherit the universe. active but spooky busy The Bulwark Got abandoned for a long time but are now being rebuilt. Which is ironic, 'cause these guys are the fortification experts who went off to build their own model Imperium. active
Eyes of the Emperor What if a Space Marine Legion did know fear? The Eyes have a proud history but their one big flaw sees them struck from the history books. Officially disbanded, their descendants carry on doing the Empire's work. absent, expected to return Children of Armok Tzeentchian super spies. If you like just as planned, you'll love these guys. If you don't, take solace in the fact that they're experts in screwing themselves over. active
Knights of Justice We do have a lot of knightly legions, but the KoJ epitomize the Space Marine as knight-errant and justicar, the peerless bastion of truth, honour, and leaping out of a helicopter. If you like that, these are the guys for you. If you hate that, you can enjoy it when their Primarch goes down like a bitch on Isstvan V. long-term absent, probably dropped out Eternal Zealots What if you wanted to heal the galaxy, but the galaxy was the fucked up place of 30k and you were working for the growing Imperium? Yeah, you'd go crazy and leap into the arms of Chaos, too. active
Sand Keepers Loyalist psyker legion ahoy! Little bit underdeveloped, but these guys are meant to be the foundation of the Librarium. absent, possibly dropped out Gorgers OMNOMNOMNOM - oh, OK, serious summary. They're the huntsman cannibal marines. That's how you learn if you're one of the Adeptus Astartes, right? gone (thankfully)
Scale Bearers Do you like Space Marines? Do you like Dinosaurs? Do you think guys in power armour riding literal dinosaurs would be a bit silly? Don't worry - the dinosaur theme goes to the look of their bikes, not their trusty steeds. They also have giant lizard companions ("Sors"), at least in the early days. active Horns of Ruin ASTARTES SMASH!!! These guys could be cool but they're a bit one note at the moment. absent, probably gone
Scions of Europa Meet the stubbornmarines. The Scions pride themselves on never retreating except in the most dire of circumstances. This is really great during the Siege of Terra, not so great later on. we see him around but he hasn't done much with his guys Iron Assembly Lego-marines? Actually, I really don't know where these guys are going. They were undeveloped for ever because their original developer left and promised to come back, but didn't. A new guy has taken them on, but we're still waiting to see what he's doing beyond LOUD NOISES. active
Silver Cataphracts AAAAAAHH, MOTHERLAND!!! Hailing from Space Russia and led by a Primarch who combines the "best" features of Stalin and Ivan the Terrible, the Cataphracts are probably the most fatalistic of the Astartes. frighteningly active Iron Rangers I sure hope you like scouts. Because if you don't, the Iron Rangers are going to sneak into your tent and cut your throat. Heck, they might do it anyway. Don't say you weren't warned! absent, probably gone
Steel Marshals The inevitable loyalist siege legion. Surprisingly laid back and chill guys, for a group of super-soldiers who spend their time fighting their enemies eye-to-eye. active but busy Life Bringers Biological nightmare Legion, goes over to Nurgle. They have the bare bones of the idea sketched out really nicely, but need detail. gone
Stone Men The Stone Men are a throwback to the gonzo days of Rogue Trader. It's great terrible awe-inspiring beyond description! off his meds and in the community Lions Rampant Victorian English hypocrites, avowing restraint and gentlemanliness but belonging entirely to Slaanesh. active
Thunder Kings Based on a world of clannish Celtic primitives, the Thunder Kings split apart in the Heresy and spend the next centuries killing each other. They're a bit like a cheerier version of the Dark Angels with a less obscure gay culture reference. probably gone, second time these guys have been abandoned Mastodontii Siberian/Inuit Marines with HUEG tanks. Do you really need anything else? active
Void Angels HONHONHON, ve are ze Space Marines Français! The Void Angels are a smug bunch but they do get shit done. Combine enlightenment ideals with revolutionary terror (remembering that the French Empire included Indochina and parts of sub-Saharan Africa) and you'll have a good idea of what they're about. worryingly active Sons of Fire Remember how Khorne is all about KILL! MAIM! BURN!? Like that, but heavy on the BUURRRRN!!! Gone
War Scribes The "big picture" Legion who consider the consequences. These are the geeks who can punch your head off. They get involved in a lot of weird shit in the Galactic Core. active Wolves of Dawn/Heralds of Hektor Hey, hey, it's the Warmaster! They're led by Hektor who is a kind of tragic Greek Hero/Macedonian warlord in SPAAAAACE! gone

Doctrine and Reforms

Much of the discipline and organisation of the early Legions owed greatly to the ancient and proven Terran patterns of strategy, hierarchy and function as laid down in the revered texts of the Principia Belicosa of Roma and Krom's fragmentary New Model that had survived in the hands of the Old Earth tyrants down the blood-stained generations. To these venerable treatises the Emperor and his commanders had added their own genius and created a sturdy but adaptable strategic framework that spoke to the fundamental strengths and superhuman abilities of the Legionaries themselves.

Following the disaster of the Hektor Heresy and the Imperial counter-offensive of the Great Scouring, Darius Cyaxares persuaded his brother Primarchs to lay down their Legions and break up these mighty armies, so that no one man would again lead the terrible might that Hektor had turned against the Imperium. In reforming the Space Marine Legions into smaller units, the wisdom of the Primarchs was combined. Thomas Gaudin, the Emperor's Praetorian, laid out the ethics of the Space Marines as unyielding loyalty, honour, and good faith. Gaspard Lumey, who stood at the fore of the greatest Legion, explained his tactical and organisational doctrine. Darius himself gave the instructions to govern Space Marine Librarians. The result was the Epitoma institutorum rei Adeptus Astartes - better known as the Institutorum Astartes - that laid the basis for the Space Marine Chapters of the reformed Imperium.

Miscellaneous

Remaining issues, including proposals for Legions, sorting out the Primarch discovery order, and defining Legion specialities and numbers, can be raised on the Talk page. At the moment there are four "missing" Legions, akin to the two missing Legions of the original universe.

Graphical Templates

Here are some easily painted templates to make illustrating the Legion pages a simpler task.
