This article is probably off-topic, but tolerated because it's relevant and/or popular on /tg/... or we just can't be bothered to delete it.

The Dark Crystal is a 1982 movie from the Jim Henson studios. It wasn't received very well at the time but plenty of its influence can be seen in /tg/ media, starting with Basic Dungeons & Dragons.

Three races are at play here: the Skeksis (bad), the Mystics (good), and underfoot the Gelflings. The plot focuses on Jen, a Gelfling orphan raised by Mystics. Etc etc hero's journey, find the macguffin fix the world and restore the balance.

There was a 2019 miniseries in the Soft Reboot genre, better than the original in many ways.

The original possibly inspired Zeb Cook for his nagpa (and Monte Cook for his harrids). CM7: The Tree of Life is a more-obvious expy.
