History

Dark Age of Technology and Age of Strife

In a time forgotten to the Imperium there was a gold age of technological wonders. In order to meet the demands of Terra early humans set out to the stars to harvest the resources to supply the homeworld. A large portion of the Core Worlds were colonized in time, providing mining facilities, agricultural worlds, and factory planets in the middle of the galaxy. Like many of the earliest settlements these worlds were protected by an Imperial Knight family, which would fight off hostile flora and fauna on these newly colonized worlds. This age of peace and prosperity could not last.

Like the rest of the galaxy, the region of space that would become the Exirus System was wracked by Warp Storms, making normal warp travel impossible. Entire industrial worlds died as the deliveries of needed food were tossed through space and time, or swallowed by untold horrors. This period of despair continued for centuries, until the knights of the Exirus System, the mighty House Exirus, launched a war of conquest using sublight technologies. The Exirans expanded rapidly across the subsector, consuming worlds into their feudal empire. But steel and sublight took them only so far, and soon the Exirans faced the greatest peril yet: Orks of Waaagh!!! Bonebitz. A green tide swept through the subsector, burning the works of House Exirus to the ground. Too soon the Orks pushed into the Exirus System itself, and the Exirans were left with only a handful of voidships and an understrength host of knights. In a desperate gambit, the Exirans sacrificed the last of their ships to deploy knights direcly on Ork vessels, then ram the Ork rokks at relativistic speeds before they made landfall. Most

Great Crusade

The first encounters the Imperium had with citizens of Exirus were during the main thrust of Core Worlds campaign, with many of the Core Lords having hired mercenaries and rogue princes lusting for true combat. (WIP)

Military

Before the Bonebitz war Exirus was the name of the knight house that defended the system. However, there is no more house named Exirus; only a world and a system named Exirus. Now, instead of relying on battle suits, the Exirans must arm themselves to defeat their enemies. Supplied by their systems' industrial world and the nearby forgeworld, the Exiran Armoured Brigades now brave fire like the knights of legend, trusting their thick armor to protect them, as the old barons trusted theirs.
