KING OF THE ANGRY SKULL BEARING NEDERLANDERS

Sigmar Unberogen is a hero in the backstory of Warhammer Fantasy Battle. The story goes that, some twenty-five hundred years before the "present day," a twin-tailed comet appeared in the sky on the night of his birth. The tribe to which he was born took this to be an omen, and sure enough, he did some pretty heroic things early in his life. These feats included saving some Dwarfs, who granted him a massive Warhammer called "Head-Splitter," and uniting the various tribes in his part of the world into the Empire. He crusaded against the forces of Chaos, and after fifty years, he abdicated, leaving the leaders of the various tribes to rule together; meanwhile, he went into the wilderness. Since nobody saw him die, people decided that he must have ascended into godhood, and he is now worshiped as such. This hypothesis does have something to it: priests of Sigmar do seem to get some kind of divine assistance. On the other hand, according to WHFRP 2e, it's speculated they might just be channeling the Winds of Magic inadvertently. Exactly how the Imperials in 40K think the Corpse-Emperor is helping them, but in truth they're just using the Warp without their knowing it.

Sigmar worshiped Ulric in life. In Heldenhammer, he's shown making blood sacrifices to said god. So, Ulric may just be a guise for Khorne. Sigmar also had his balls touched and was raped by a crazy sex-starved dominatrix amazon cougar queen in said novels. What do you think of your holy god now, southlings? WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR HOLY GOD NOW?

In Warhammer 40,000

In the current official publications of GW, there is no link between Warhammer Fantasy Battle and Warhammer 40,000, but that's never gotten in the way of the fandom, especially considering that at one point, WFB was explicitly part of the 40k universe. A recurring hypothesis is that Sigmar is one of the Unknown Primarchs. One could posit that the twin-tailed comet which heralded his birth was actually the genetor-pod falling to the Warhammer World, that his mysterious departure was him leaving to take command of his Space Marine Legion (tentatively called the Emperor's Hammers), and that the miracles credited to him are in fact the result of the God-Emperor of Mankind. Recent pieces of background, detailing Sigmar's birth and characteristics, tend to invalidate this theory, however.

Sigmar's too manly for the Emperor's pussy ass to handle anyway.
