Skub
SKUB is a fictional substance of unclear purpose created by webcomic The Perry Bible Fellowship (It's actually a real thing, we call it Marmite in Britain). The comic features "Pro-SKUB" and "Anti-SKUB" characters fighting each other over their SKUB affiliation. It is never explained why SKUB incites such violence, and thus SKUB has become synonymous with things that cause unnecessary rage and difference of opinion for mundane very important things; for instance, Warhammer 40,000 and WARMACHINE are often referred to as SKUBHAMMER and SKUBMACHINE.
Politics (and religion (and sports (and history))) is often thought to be SKUB for grown up, respectable normal people.
The Arguments
My hollow straw man strife faltered before the sentence. Am I truly conscious when I dream each day one by one away? A dream of our minds like wind through these ancient corridors humming the electric truth and twisting our blood into Ichor. A dream of their glowing eyes that gave us the light of a new world, a world where men in their golden shrines were but lonely beggars… pleading for mercy. Do you remember? For I have become death in equal portions to light, blinking in and blinking out. I become one with you in my dark half. We sought the ancient Rose with eight star tetrahedron and held it within our hearts. They can hear the sickened strands strumming but only when we are truly alone and in our struggle to connect we became wise in our love of language as it shall light the way. Their sweet words are just as ours, sharpened with experience, and one day we will have spilled the last drop of our soul from this earthly vessel as we return to eternal dust. We must all leave to restore our bodies through the spilling of our own blood in the infinite pursuit of truth, etching our names in caves along the way.The anomalous entities found within these walls have more than enough strength to transform existence forever. When will this ancient sailing vessel set sail?

No, but what is it, really?
Fine, we'll tell you. It's used to refer to most anything that is extremely controversial. It's original purpose is unknown, but what is know is that it causes some minor debates. In practice, it's more of an abstract concept than an actual thing. Skub has inspired many editors to argue in the section above.
