Background

Kuria started out as a little girl in a small community, daughter of two farmers who had no plans for her besides marriage and working on a farm of her own. Kuri had other ideas. She made the trek to school every morning in worn-out sandals to learn, convinced that her parents were ignorant. She evolved a knack for calligraphy and painting, though as time passed her subjects grew increasingly daring, down to the almost taboo. This rose an ire in the townsfolk, to whom she had a chance to reveal a glorious painting, showing them a future they could grasp.

If she had painted it.

Deciding they weren't good enough to view her art, with a mixture of loathing and fear, she left town before trying to explain herself or enlighten them at all. It was in an abandoned shack in the farmlands, her paints and papers clutched to her chest, that the Noresore found her. Its whispered words soothed her spirit and acted as a balm to her courage, and in that night, she embraced her Infernal Exaltation.

Since then, she's become less attached to humanity as a whole, while her rage against the inferior artists of Creation grew. Her attention sometimes wanders, and she is prone to dumping art projects halfway if they do not please her, but she is capable and willing. She is happiest at the side of Malfeas or painting in honor of his glorious form. While she knows many love Malfeas and revere him, she harbors no jealousy, and carries herself with a confidence born from knowing she is on the right side of her lord. Her work is often done for a mere two reasons: corrupt Creation or please Malfeas.

Coadjutor: The Noresore that came to her was known as Whispered Ardor, and he imparts to Kuria a fragment of his remembered passions and an appreciation for color. He is not concerned with timid acts of quiet acceptance, and often pushes Kuria to act freely, uninhibited. She has taken his courage and turned it into her own.

Mutations

  • Fangs: Kuria's teeth are sharp like an eels, and give her a more potent way to spread her toxins. (Pox)
  • Toxicity: Spending so much time surrounded by paint has affected her somewhat adversely, making her produce a toxin. In small doses, it induces visions of Malfeas' madness; an overdose can be harmful to both the body and mind. (Affliction)(5L/Action, 2, -/-, -2)
  • Allergy(Tin): Stemming from her coadjutor, even so much as touching tin causes Kuria intense pain. (Deficiency)
  • Diet(Paint): Kuria doesn't just suck on the end of her brush for fun - she can now prefers a diet strict in paint. In less thoughtful moments, she has even eaten her own work right off the canvas. (Debility)

Appearance

Smeared with paint, pair tied back with either ribbons fringed with chimes or hairsticks dripping with bells, she's not the most attractive Infernal to stride from her Chrysalis. She's not the worst either. She might be at least a little more cute if she put an effort into cleaning herself up, but more often than not she is smeared with paint from her brush and various chemicals she uses in her paintings. The fumes that blow from her after a new project could probably wilt flowers with the acrid, burning scent of acids and blood. She dresses simply in a pulled-on tunic, a skirt and a jacket that grows dirtier by the day. Her wavy hair is a mousey-brown, and her half-closed eyes glint hazel.

She exhibits a few signs of her Infernal nature, her blood being rather clear, and her reflections in mirrors are somewhat hazy - with her nervous system showing through. It's nothing too worrying - not yet an advantage or a flaw.

(SWLiHN) Factual Determination Analysis: 2m, Reflexive, Instant. Takes a written or spoken statement and breaks it down to find if it is a lie, either in part or in whole. Essence is added in bonus successes should the statement be backed by Charms or other magic. (pg 130)

(SWLiHN) Essence-Dissecting Stare: (8-Perception/Occult)m, Simple, One Hour. This charm gives Essence Sight, allowing dematerialized objects and beings to be seen. A roll of (Intelligence+Occult) to identify charms and powers of creatures. Gauging the rating of an artifact/demesne/manse or a person's Essence trait is Difficulty 2. Discovering the nature of an unfamiliar charm is Difficulty 5. Essence added in dice to any pool to penetrate magical or charm-assisted stealth. (pg 133)

(SWLiHN) Counter-Conceptual Interposition: 5m, Reflexive, Instant. Perfect Parry! Creative stunts can reduce the cost of using this charm. The cost to use this charm increases by 5m if the attack is supplemented by an unknown charm (Diff 5 Intelligence+Occult to understand). This charm may not defend against surprise attacks, and costs 10m to activate if another charm made it unexpected. (pg 133)

(SWLiHN) Mind-Hand Manipulation: 10m, Simple, Indefinite (Sorcerous). Mind-hands! The 'limbs' have a Dexterity equal to Willpower and a Strength equal to Essence. Wielded with Occult for all related abilities. Wielding a weapon with this ability inflicts a -3 external penalty on the attack and uses the lower of Occult or the Ability. (pg 134)

(SWLiHN) Principle Invoking Onslaught: 1m (+1wp), Supplemental, Instant (Sorcerous, Shaping). Attacks can now range from grinding hail and bursts of white fire to a fog that turns flesh to gold. If an attack supplemented with PIO kills the target, the corpse can be turned into any other matter of a Resources level lower than the Infernals' Essence. Adding 1wp to the cost causes it to enhance a clinch as well, applying successes equal to half the dice pool in lieu of rolling.(pg 135)

(SWLiHN) Unseen Force Application: -, -m, Permanent. Mind-Hand attacks become invisible. They can be noticed with a (Wits+Awareness, Diff 4) roll as a miscellaneous action. Mortals may not block these, and are at -3 DV to Dodge them. Essence-Wielders are at -2 to defend against them. (pg 135)

(Hegra) Abundant Euphoria Apothecary: 3m, Simple, Instant (Combo-OK, Poison, Touch). Spreads poison through a touch (Dex+MA for an unwilling touchee). If touched, the victim must succeed on a (Stamina + Integrity) roll with a difficulty of (Essence). If they fail, they gain a -1 penalty on all dice pools and static values, plus an additional -1 for every success they failed to meet the roll's difficulty by, for the duration of the scene. This drug is considered a poison, and can be cured by any Charm that can cure poison, but it does not follow the standard poison rules because it is derived from manifest emotion, rather than any physical toxin. (Hegra) Passion-Fixing Alchemy: -, Permanent. Vomit drugs instead of rubbing them on people! Yields a single dose of drugs. Additional doses may be created at 1wp (doses)m cost. ( Here )

(Cecelyne) Transcendent Desert Creature: -m, Permanent. No negative effects from being in a place of desolation, difficulty 4+ foraging rolls are now diff 1, penalty for thirst and hunger cannot go above -3, mundane attempts to track fail (Essence-fueled tracking suffers from (Essence) external penalty), Essence added to the difficulty of spotting the Infernal in places of desolation.(pg 121)

(Cecelyne) Locust Mana Plague: 15m, 1wp (or 2m), Simple, One Day. Summons a swarm of delicious edible demon locusts. Can feed up to (essence) magnitude. Eating a full meal of locusts counts as a scene of building an intimacy towards the laws of Cecelyne and reverence for the Infernal provider.(pg 126)

(Ebbie) Loom-Snarling Deception: Special, Simple, Indefinite. Creates a perfect disguise and matching destiny. Can only be pierced by non-excellency charms, in which case an appropriate roll-off occurs, adding (Essence) successes for the user of Loom-Snarling Deception. Does not disguise Essence (which is a separate charm). Costs (10 - Essence) motes.(pg 149)

  • Edacious Verse: Bestowed as a gift, this once ordinary Silver Brush has been refitted, corrupted, and twisted to the will of the Yozis. The colors it bleeds are hypnotizing and repulsive, and when not in use the brush still drips vibrant ichor.
