"The one secret no one ever suspected is that I DID stage the moon landing … on Venus! ARROOOOO! Muahahaha!"

– The disembodied head of Richard Nixon, Futurama
"Throw him in the alligator pit"

A Brain in a Jar is... well... it's a brain in a fucking jar, what does it sound like? These unnaturally preserved masses of cerebral tissue are often depicted as unnaturally alive, or at least undead, and usually have potent psionics to compensate for their lack of a body. In terms of /tg/ media, there are two major game lines to feature Brains in Jars.

CoC[edit | edit source]

In Call of Cthulhu, disembodied brains preserved in a hideous mockery of life are a common creation of the Mi-Go.

D&D[edit | edit source]

Undead brains in jars have appeared repeatedly in Dungeons & Dragons as a monster across multiple editions. Whilst there is a certain association with Ravenloft, which even has a brain in a jar as a hidden crime boss competing for rulership over the domain of Dementlieu, they've appeared as a more general monster as well.
