Gaj are a monstrous race of psionics-using giant beetles native to the world of Dark Sun. Powerful telepaths, gaj are similar to illithids in that they require the brains of sentient creatures as part of their diets, causing them to actively hunt down humanoids above all else. Also like illithids, gaj are not mindless beasts, but are fully intelligent and sapient... they're just also sadistic bastards.

Gaj are amongst the small selection of Athasian creatures borged into Spelljammer in 5th edition for some reason.
