Githyanki

The Githyanki (also known as the Gith or them damn Yankis) are a Chaotic Evil race in the Dungeons and Dragons setting, and look like some horrible cross of elves, goblins and gremlins. The githyanki are the twisted, estranged kin of the githzerai, so check that page for their racial history.

They are a martial race where males and females practice swordwork and magic with heavy intensity.

They are ruled by a undead queen that is so paranoid that when she hears one of her subjects has obtained a certain level of power, she will summon them to her palace and promptly eat their soul so no-one will be a threat to her. Most of the giths are idiotic enough to do this out of blind loyalty to her, which is weird since they are also described as 'fiercely individualistic', which would make you think they have some sense of their own.

They just love war and have been involved in many major conflicts in the setting.

They also don't want to be slaves because of how they were enslaved by the mindflayers, but they're more than willing to enslave other races or act like slaves to the aforementioned lich queen on the grounds that it's totally not like before.

The githyanki are the origins of the class-nickname "gish", from the term used for their specialist fighter-mage multi-classed warriors. The githzerai use the less catchy term "Zerth".

They are also allied with Red Dragons, apparently.
