Raei is the Goddess of Compassion and Redemption from the Exandria setting of Dungeons & Dragons, and is the only deity unique to that setting instead of being a lifted Dawn War god from the Nentir Vale setting. And by unique we mean she's just Sarenrae with the serial numbers filed off. She's also got perhaps a dash of Nusemnee, as she abandons the overt solar elements (leaving them to Pelor) and focuses on the compassion, redemption and optimism schtick. She appears as a dark-skinned, fair-haired woman of great beauty and strength with a pair of angelic ivory-white wings. She resides on Elysium, where she dwells in a hidden temple of flames on the crystal beaches of the Island of Renewal.

In her backstory, she is a deity who has always preached a message of understanding and optimism, truly believing that even the corrupt can be redeemed. This was taken advantage of by Asmodeus, who exploited her good will to decimate her faithful during the great clash of gods known as the Calamity. After this catastrophic event, faith in Raei waned sharply and she was forgotten for centuries, only to be rediscovered and her worship begin spreading again in the recent era. They don't even remember her holy days anymore, that's how far she fell into obscurity.

Dogma[edit | edit source]

  • Lead with mercy, patience and compassion.
  • Inspire others to unite in fellowship.
  • Aid those who are without guidance.
  • Heal those who are without hope.
  • Those who are beyond redemption, who revel in slaughter and remorseless evil, must be dispatched with swift justice.
