The sanctified[edit | edit source]

[1]

They're a bunch of daemon summoning madlads; but don't underestimate 'em they're ingenious madlads at that.

-Dougie McIsaac 1st Capitain of the Storm Wardens

Their History[edit | edit source]

Once upon a time the Wordbearers Legion was whole, then Horus died in 757.014.M31 and the vast majority of them took to the eye of terror in their space ships in the Scouring. But anywhere from a handful of hundreds to a couple thousand felt their wordbearer brothers had lost their sense of purpose and decided to continue fighting the heretical fight while the muzzle breaks were still hot, and so under the stewardship of former Wordbearer Lieutenant commander Helman Brisch they formed their own warband called the sanctified. By 024.M31 the warband had been formed and was doing warband things such as raiding newly founded Imperial colonies and violently boarding and plundering Exploratory fleets. Separated from their mother legion and sibling warbands in the vast tracts of imperial space the sanctified became ruggedly self reliant and frugal with their combat losses. They learned how to best to avoid getting caught by the imperial navy fleets by hiding their own ships in various places, such as in the warp, spacehulks, asteroid fields, smaller malestorms, nebulae, on dead worlds. Their ships constantly on the move from one remote place of respite to another. Whether their wisdom became demonic or demons informed their wisdom is unknown, what is known is that the warband managed to survive all the way into the 41st millennium.

Some time during these 10,980 years the The sanctified turned from worshiping chaos undivided towards worshiping Khorne, while they worship khorne they have access to adequate psykers and skilled daemon/portal summoners.

Notable escapades[edit | edit source]

•The Battle for Grand Al'gul (666.M41) Led by their own chaos sorcerer Ezrath Cull they landed upon the boring old cemetery world and tried to flip it into a Daemon World but the ultra marine chaper of the Fire Angels put a stop to them in the middle of their daemon summoning party. Shortly after they fled the world of Grand Al'gul Cull's apprentices jumped on the opportunity to cease power from him and so they murdered their master. Slightly raising the spirits of their newly defeated brothers in the process.

•The Siege of Vraks (813-830.M41) Basically Abbadon the Despoiler hired Zhufor to win the war on Vraks for him. Zhufor hired The sanctified to ritually sacrifice thousands of prisoners in Vraksian citadel. They managed to summon hundereds of Blootletters and the Lord of Bloodthirsters himself An'ggrath the Unbound to the surface of vraks before leaving the besiged world not through a ship but through the portal they created for An'ggrath to exit out of!
