Earth[edit]

Government and Fleet[edit]

Mbube Ngwabe[edit]

The Terran Federation's Minister of Defence, Mbube answers directly to the president. A tall and broad-shouldered 40something giant never seen in anything less than the sharpest business suit (and an inseparable red necktie), he takes his work and responsibilities very seriously, and has a hard time balancing the needs of politics with the requests of the military.

Benten Corporation[edit]

Benten is a large corporation (mostly Earth-based, though corporate HQ and many labs and offices are on Uranus) that specializes in advanced research, high-energy technology and aerospace.

Dr. Marianne Severis[edit]

One of the greatest minds of the century, Doctor Marianne is the operative from Benten Corp in charge of covert retrival and research of artifact alien technologies, an extremely dangerous job (especially because such technology is very often hotly disputed, and skirmishes, even wars break over them). A tough and grim woman with little regard for protocol or society, Marianne doesn't care at all about her looks, leading to her long black hair being all greasy and dirty, her deep-set eyes sporting almost permanent eye circles because of her messy living and sleeping habits (an average of 3 hours of sleep per day), and bad overall health, caused by her lack of care for basic hygene, heavy drinking, chain smoking (mostly cigars) and possibly more than one form of chemical and radiation poisoning. An eyepatch over her left eye covers an eye lost in a lab accident. Were it not for her usual labcoat, she'd look more like a dangerous inmate from a prison than like a scientist. In dealing with people, she is rough, careless and indelicate, if ultimately well-meaning.

John Johnson[edit]

The mistreated and unimposing pilot of the Lady Luck, Benten Corp's research vessel, John is silent and plain-looking: in his early 30s, short brown hair, black eyes, medium build, average looks. He more than makes up for that with his great piloting skill, but people still tend to forget about him.

Mars[edit]

Comm. Jim Roberto[edit]

A naval officer in his late 30s. Medium height and build, bronzed skin, thick curly hair and a bit of a beard. He doesn't ook much like a military officer at all. Usually wears a grey-white everyday officer uniform without visible insigna, despite his rank of commodore. Prone to unconventional thinking and acting on instinct. He commands the Experimental IV Wing, a non-combat unit that tries out new equipment and tactics in mock-combat situations. Apparently he had a short past as a ship captain, but his vessel was shot down in the Third Valhallian War years ago, and he's been stuck at a desk ever since. He has the strange habit of calling military hardware with off nicknames, like mechas being "tin cans" and starships "boxes" for example, but it varies.

PANTHEON[edit]

PANTHEON is a special branch of the Martian military, an elite mecha unit. In the past it was mostly composed of paroled criminals or skilled but troublesome soldiers being reassinged there in order to avoid court-martial, but a recent reorganization of the military launched Project Newman, an attempt to create via cloning and extensive surgical and genetic engineering technologies, an elite unit of "perfect soldiers". Those artificial humans have been assigned to PANTHEON together with new, cutting-edge mecha.

Col. Oswald Ripper[edit]

40 years, 32 of which in the armed forces, Colonel Ripper, commanding officer of PANTHEON until recently, is a seasoned veteran who worked his way through the ransk from the bottom up, opening his way with headbutts and medals. This well-built old officer radiates an aura of hard, determined authority and trustworthyness, looking like the kind of guy who wouldn't even blink when under fire. Prone to shouting a lot (mostly insults), he can be very hard to deal with for people unused to military discipline. His hair is very short, almost clean-shaven, and his skin shows an impressive number of military-themed tattoos from his several missions and units, and more than a couple of scars. Few know that his right arm is artificial, replaced after losing it in an unspecified incident. Many don't dare ask him anything, and he doesn't shake hands with people often.

Cpt. Hank "Psycho" Stormwall[edit]

Previously known as Newman Number 12, Hank "Psycho" Stormwall is a Newman and the new leader of PANTHEON. A bloodthirsty berserker with an inane sense of humor and an extremely short fuse, "Psycho" resembles the ideal soldier everyone sees in the recruitment posters: clean-shaven, square-jawed, thick-necked and solid. Like most Newmen, he looks a bit too perfect to be natural.
Hank is the pilot of the red-and-black Ares, the most powerful and offensive PANTHEON mecha ever built, sporting an enormous array of weapons.

Lt. Sergei "Kid" Mak[edit]

Newman Number 10, Sergei Mak's appearance is that of a young man in his early twenties, sporting a crewcut of blonde hair and large blue eyes. He acts very cool, calm and collected, a professional soldier with complete faith in his superior, though he does clearly enjoy his job.
Sergei pilots the Persephone, a custom-built PANTHEON mecha specialized in long-range missile warfare and battlefield control.

Lt. Milly "Chick" Baptiste[edit]

Newman Number 11, Milly is a young woman with long, curly greyish hair. Though easily distracted, airheaded and with an apparently quite shallow personality, she seems to have a better grasp on tactics than most other PANTHEON members. Even though she doesn't seem to really KNOW what she's doing, so maybe her skills are the result of conditioning, dleep-learning and hypnosis.
Her Mecha, the Athena, is built on the same basic frame of the Ares, but with a much lighter and faster body, and sporting a long cloak.

Neptune[edit]

Order of Bejeweled Stars (Orthodox)[edit]

---The Order of Bejeweled Stars is a mostly-female religious order worshipping the divinity hidden in technology, which they believe to be embodied in seven cutting-edge mecha powered by mysterious technologies, called Saints, each named after a different precious stone. How the Order acquired those mecha, and where do they come from, is a mystery. ---

Centauri Feldspar[edit]

This quirky teenage(?) priestess of the Order of Bejeweled Stars is Emerald's immediate superior and caretaker. Athletic and beautiful, well-built and surprisingly shapely for an allegedly 14 years old girl, her past is somewhat of a mystery. She has from time to time proven to be extremely resourceful and determined to protect his charge by any means necessary. This apparently does not extend to putting him into pink dresses with a lot of ribbons.
