Background[edit]
Ruiha Ru's popularity in Skullstone skyrocketed because of her joyful funeral dirges; death was a celebration of life and the passing on into the greater existence as ghost, so why be mournful? So great was her young talents that it attracted the admiration of many ghosts and, surprisingly, Death Knights of the Silver Prince. Unable to refuse such flaterring offers ( if not because some came at the threat of a horrible death and her ghost forged into Soulsteel afterwards.. ) she agreed to a concert. To her surprise, the Bodhisattva Anointed by Dark Waters was the surprise guest of the event; overjoyed, as this would doubtlessly ensure her position as Skullstone's premier musical artist, she put her heart and soul into the greatest production ever.. till the worst possible thing could happen. She 'died' on stage.
The Silver Prince has other suspicions about what happened but does not play on them, as is his prudent nature.
At any rate this is how her unfortunate end has been recorded in Skullstone's ledgers; the truth is further from the matter. The truth is she was carefully extracted by no less then three Sidereal Exalted, who had to cut her performance short to ensure her fated Exaltation happened without fail -- and that she was not summarily bound into servitude to a Deathlord. Initially upset, she quickly got over it as Skullstone's true, ugly face was revealed to her ( and no small amount of magical influence was used to scrub the heavy religious indoctrination of Skullstone from her mind ).
The wonders of Heaven have since inspired her works, which have grown from just mere funeral dirges and lamentations to all spectrum of emotion and story. Still, she's mildly annoyed by having her Magnum Opus cut short, and intends to resolve that one day -- with the entirety of Heaven as her audience.
