Sprites are a type of syrup infused "drink" mythological creatures; the term originates from a Latin word meaning "spirit", but it is most commonly used outside of /tg/ media as a generic term for elves and other faeries.

Dungeons & Dragons[edit]

In Dungeons & Dragons, sprites refer to a specific branch of Tiny sized fey who generally appear as diminutive and often insect-winged elves. The pixie is technically considered a kind of sprite, but the D&D common sprite is very different; whilst the pixie is more playful and magic-focused, sprites tend to be more warlike, relying on magical arrows to swiftly defeat much larger foes. In Basic, the Sprite was one of the many fey races made playable in "The Wee Folk", the first of the Creature Catalogs. In Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, the Sprite family tree was divided into Sprite, Sea Sprite, Pixie, Nixie, Atomie and Grig.

Standard Sprite[edit]

Standard sprites have butterfly wings and stand 2 feet tall. They are a flighty bunch, given to dancing and singing. The only outsiders they deal with regularly are druids.

Sea Sprite[edit]

Sea sprites have no wings, seaweed hair and gills on their necks. They make their homes in coral reefs and shipwrecks.

Atomie[edit]

The smallest of the sprites at only 1 foot tall, atomies have dragonfly wings and live in hollowed out rooms in the upper branches of old hardwood trees. They collect magic items.

Grig[edit]

Grigs are one and a half foot tall sprites with the wings, legs and antennae of a cricket. They are mischievous and love playing lighthearted pranks on bigger people, usually making amends with gifts later on. They are nomads, roaming the forest in small bands. For some reason, they have a very close connection to unicorns, who will protect grigs with their lives.

Monstergirls[edit]

This article or section is about Monstergirls (or a monster that is frequently depicted as a Monstergirl), something that /tg/ widely considers to be the purest form of awesome. Expect PROMOTIONS! and /d/elight in equal measure, often with drawfaggotry or writefaggotry to match.

As the sprite is pretty much interchangeable with the fairy and the pixie, it goes without saying that sprites are definitely represented amongst that niche of monstergirls fans who love tiny cute sylvan MGs. A theoretical D&D-based sprite monstergirl would basically be a tiny elven amazon - sort of like a kubbit with flight.
