Meganobz

2001:630:D0:F045:A411:5A44:4A4:6BA9:

A Meganob is what happens when a Nob gets enough Teef to get a skilled Mek to build them orky body armor, It is powerful enough to rival the likes of Terminator Armor. Due to how it turns the wearer into a fucking tank, and its large Kombi-Shoota. Though other Orks mock the Meganobz for wearing so much armor, only the dullest would do so within earshot. Even a direct hit from a tank round is unlikely to do more than knock a Meganob over. For many, the only chance of surviving an encounter with an angry Meganob is to outrun him. To counteract this weakness, many Meganobz roar into battle aboard armored Battlewagons. This saves time that would be wasted slogging across the battlefield, and helps the Meganobz get stuck straight into combat. They are usually considered as a Warboss right hand men and often the ones to be promoted to a Warboss if the original one died.

Ork kulture is a seething orgy of violence where the strong constantly assert their position over upstart, ambitious young Orks. In the extremely tough Kratocracy of the Orks. Only the largest, toughest, and most aggressive Orks rise to leadership amongst the Greenskins. This makeshift "nobility" results in a class of Ork known as "Nobz" in their guttural language. Nobz are larger, richer and more aggressive than normal Orks, and never miss an opportunity to remind their fellows of it. These mighty Orks lead by example, fighting where the fighting is thickest and "encouraging" any recalcitrant Orks or Grots with cuffs and blows to get them into the battle. Orks instinctively obey those larger than themselves, provided they are a healthy shade of green. Most Orks would rather die than bow to a non-Greenskin's will (Unless if its Yarrick). A Warlord's or Warboss' decisions are enforced by this ruling caste.

In the case of Meganobz, they are even bigger and tougher then regular old Nobz being shy of the Warbosses and Warlords. While a Warboss may command his armies to go krump something, Meganobz are typically there to provide support and advice the rampaging Warboss on certain interests to be noted.

Meganobz being one alpha wolfs are able to gain some snazzy and shiny wargears such as a Twin-linked Shoota, the above mentioned Kombi-Shoota, Power Klaw, Mega Armor and Stikkbombs

On The Tabletop
"Dem Orks got a Mek for a Boss! Dat's jus' sad, dat is."<br>
-Kaptin Bluddflagg, reassuring the truth

Ork Meganobz come in packs of three for 120 points, with a boss nob or a Big Mek for the ork with low standards, and a grot oiler.

Besides the weapons listed above they can replace the weapon set with 2 killsaws, giving them an extra die in armor penetration but you would lose out in shooting

MegaNobz are tough to move around the battlefield, it would be best to bring them on a battlewagon or trukk when in larger maps

The Big Meks get two additional weapons, the Teleport Blasta! and the Instant Death! for an extra 25 points

Unlike their Painboy cousins, Mekboyz do demonstrate a more typically orky sense of ambition. And so it is that a mekboy can grow bigger and stronger and even more inventive, until he has become a figure of respect and awe even by the common Ork Boyz. This is a Big Mek, essentially a more tekky-skilled version of the Warboss. Though they are often content to leave the hassles of leadership to a Warboss and simply run their own things as a sort of 2nd in command, Big Meks have been known to lead their own Waaaghs as well.

When a Big Mek is in charge, naturally, there's a lot more emphasis on tek over boyz. Aside from leading Speed Freek kultz, Big Mek Waaaghs usually abound with all the various walkers and tanks they can set up, heavy artillery, flash gitz, lootas, and trukks.

They are usually the ones in charge of building a Stompa or a really big Gargant, therefore if you see a Stompa or Gargant straddling across the battlefield, you can bet your ass that a Big Mek is somewhere in the battlefield. Big Meks usually can be identified by their use of heavy armed and advance (For Orks at least) armor. Some are so decked-out in technological bling that they appear more like Deff Dreds and mini-Gorkanauts than an actual Ork.

Gorkamorka is a prime example of the sort of "ork kulture" likely to breed a Big Mek Waaagh!

Equipment
A Big Mek will quite naturally have some of the fanciest equipment around. These options can get pricey in points, but are so good you rarely see an ork army without at least one of them, and since they're exclusive to the Big Mek, they're a big part of why people bother to take them over a warboss.

* Shokk Attack Gun
: A warp field projection weapon that uses the warp to teleport its ammunition inside the armor of a target. Potentially deadly to even the strongest tanks, but with no small amount of risk. Tearing the warp a new one is an iffy proposition at best, and this is being done by Ork tech. It's possible that, rather than sending a screaming enraged grot into your target's lungs, you simply open a void portal, consuming your target entirely. It's also possible for that same void to open up at the weapon, sucking down the Big Mek that fired it.

* Kustom Force Field
: An extremely popular support choice. The KFF creates a sphere around the big mek, protecting any allied units within from shooting. This works wonders for a large number of orks trying to get into choppa range while running right at an imperial guard trench.

* Tellyport Blasta
: An extremely powerful blast weapon in an army that rather lacks a good anti-armor punch, this weapon would be a 'must have' if not for two flaws. First, it must be mounted on mega armor, limiting the Mek's maneuverability. Second, it's subject to scatter, and only has the range of a pistol. But then, it wouldn't be orky if it wasn't capable of frying your own troops.

Trazyn the Infinite, also known as Trollzyn the Tarpit Breaker and Trashy the Incontinent, is the best Necron Overlord/Phaeron (while technically his title is Overlord, he has his own Overlord subordinates and rule his own little empire like Phaeron). Basically what you'll get if you combined Doctor Doom, a Tomb King, a Bloody Magpie and the Terminator.

Trazyn the Infinite is a preserver of histories, artifacts and events. In his possession are technologies and relics that are so valuable as to be priceless. Amongst his collection are the fabled wraithbone choir of Altansar, the preserved head of Sebastian Thor, the ossified husk of an Enslaver and a suit of baroque power armour, complete with the Space Marine who was still wearing it. (Who according to a recent White Dwarf issue hints that it may or may not be Vulkan.) This means that he is the only creature in this or any other universe that rivals the stealing power of the Blood Ravens. In such a dangerous galaxy, Trazyn is loath to go out and explore it himself, but with so many exquisite artifacts to see and catalogue, he cannot afford to miss out. As a result he will send out substitutes of himself to do his dirty work. On the battlefield this can become increasingly irritating, as killing what appears to be Trazyn may simply be a Lychguard or a Necron Lord. Meanwhile, somewhere nearby, the real Trazyn is busy smashing his way through his foes to get his metal hands on his latest acquisition.

(That's how the fluff handles it; the crunch rules imply that he simply takes over the body of another Lord, Lychguard, or Cryptek. He was there; you killed him; he just ran like the troll he is. Oh, and you didn't get Slay The Warlord by the way. Just imagine this guy politely trolling with the voice of Terl from Battlefield Earth : "Oh, dear ! What a wonderful contingent of Imperial Guards ! I shall thank you with all my heart, General, for this marvelous gift. Please tell them to strike a nice pose while I prepare a stasis grenade...")

/tg/ has gained a fondness for him, due to his thieving ways, his Doctor Doom-esque body doubles, and his polite yet trollish attitude, he is also known for using completely self-evident aliases, which nevertheless seem to work quite well. It is generally agreed that he is one of the only good things Matt Ward has ever put into the fluff.

"A war-torn city in the Ultramar system. The Ultramarines, aided by an Imperial Guard regiment led by Lord Castellan Ursarkar Creed, prepares to face an Ork incursion in a final battle. The Orks are numerous, but the Imperium has the upper hand, just barely, as Lord Creed's tactical genius has proven invaluable. As the Orks begin their final assault on the city, the Ultramarines ready their defenses. Creed, ever oddly silent, gazes intently at a large flagpole in the center of town, watching through binocs as the Orks' charge is funneled towards the center of the city. Suddenly, as the Orks near the square, the tip of a Baneblade's main gun can be seen coming around the flagpole. The great tank begins to emerge from behind the thin metal object, perfectly and impossibly concealed. It begins to move into its firing arc, and a great shout is heard from the Warboss down below, just barely carrying over the rest of the din. "CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-" Suddenly, the cry cuts off in confusion, as Creed spits out his cigar. Where the Baneblade once stood, there is air, thin air. Not a trace remains of the enormous tank. It has vanished completely. Then, gradually, a green, crackling, electrical rune appears hanging in the air where the Baneblade was. It extends gracefully, for its platonic geometric form. If Creed was given to poetry, he might even say it resembled a rose. But he knew better. A rage he had felt only once before began to boil deep within, and his cry shook the world as the Orkish tide began to hack his guardsmen and the Marines to pieces. "TRAAAAAAAAAAAAZYYYYYYYYN!"

From Ward Himself
"Trazyn's also no slouch in combat. Whenever his empathic obliterator kills an enemy, it has a chance to kill all other enemies of the same type in the same combat - perfect for Ork mobs. This isn't so useful against characters, but that's why Trazyn also carries a clutch of mindshackle scarabs - why kill an enemy when you can take over his mind and have him kill for you...?"oh wait nope, mss are now just a useful fear test.So now the only real use you'll find for him in a duel is whacking them with a stick.

The Infinite List of Dickings
Trazyn is universally regarded as a <strike>huge dick</strike> pretty fun guy to be around due to his <strike>rampant kleptomania</strike> erudition and wit. Here is a list of his <strike>crimes</strike> many-splendored accomplishments, compiled for the <strike>warning</strike> edification of /tg/.

* Killed five invading regiments of Catachans, then turned them into miniatures for his collection.
** Sent Inquisitor Valeria fan mail (maybe, we can't tell if he was being sarcastic in the letter) attached to an armed tesseract labyrinth as a reward for "gifting" him said Catachan regiments. <s>huh, maybe that's why she was not in codex inquisition eh?</s> <s>it was revealed in codex gk that not only she survives that but also manages to add that artifact to her collection and use it in battle she was removed because GW is too lazy to make her a model</s> UPDATE: As of Fall of Cadia, Trazyn has revealed that Valeria became his waifu before subsequently getting BLAMed for consorting with xenos, hence why he releases Greyfax the Angery instead of getting Valeria to tag along (Just as planned? How about Tau start summoning daemons for battle? And maybe Orks start building their own webway.)
* Banned from the Necron throne world of Mandragora after trying to loot Imotekh's staff.
** Pops in whenever he feels like it anyway.
* Stole Sebastian Thor's head. Maybe (there's like five other museums claiming to have his skeleton; the only reason Trazyn stands out is because his Thor head is preserved in a jar, rather than a skull).
* Took the World Spirit Shrine of Carnac, an Exodite world as a trophy for helping to conquer it.
* Uses other Necron Lords as body doubles without telling them.
* Told the greatest amongst us all he was old pals with Rawbutt Girlyman. Considering that one of the pokeballs he unleashed against Chaos at the Fall of Cadia was a bunch of Ultramarines fresh from the aftermath of the Horus Heresy, he might be telling the truth ("old pals" by his definition, of course).
** And then informed them that maybe he was going to take Papa Smurf, as he'd be better off with him than in the company of the Ultramarines.
*** And with Rowboat coming back, somehow, for 40k End Times, we might actually get to see how the two know each other. If they actually do. There's every possibility that Trollzyn was just lying.
* Has a fucking PRIMARCH stored at his pad, supposedly... Possibly Vulkan according to White Dwarf, which makes the next one all the more hilarious.
*Told Vulkan He'stan he had the Song of Entropy, luring the Salamanders into a 10-year war with the Necrons. At the end of it, Trazyn pretty much said "just kidding, I don't have the Song of Entropy," as he tried to steal the Spear of Vulkan. Kind of back fired when Vulkan He'stan decided to just give him the Spear. Tip first. He'stan was pretty pissed when he learned Trazyn just jumped into another body.
** Twice.
*Invaded the Imperial planet of Midgardia and nabbed a C'tan shard of Nyadra'zatha, despite Logan Grimnar's attempts to stop him. It's notable that he pulled this off in Logan's own codex supplement, where most other battles in the book were a resounding Space Wolf victory. To be fair, Space Wolves destroying (and thus accidentally freeing) a C'tan shard would make them look like an assholes. I mean even more assholes than they already are.
**In retribution, Logan hunted him down to another planet, Vhaloth IV, and ended up kicking Imotekh's ass instead. (Just As Planned. The dick deserved it for hanging on to his staff anyway.)
* Captured an Ork warboss and the Deathwatch kill team that was hunting said warboss, and sat them in front of each other in his collection for all eternity. And he double-checked they were both still self-aware, just to feel them suffer.
* Caught a bunch of tech priests evacuating from the necron invasion of Magogue, and set them up in stasis as a monument to that planet's fall. Notable because he pulled it off in the Skitarii codex. Trazyn's apparently the go-to guy for being able to win outside of his own codex.
* May or may not be the one pulling the strings behind the events of Xenology, as probably he won't have any problems impersonating a C'tan shard.
* Has been hanging out on Cadia for who knows how long as the "man of iron" which all but confirms the pylons are necrons made.
* Steals Creed himself after the fall of Cadia.
* Steals Papa Smurfs' (The Ultramarine bloke that can't spell Robert properly) pillow from his lumber.

Things on Trazyn's 'Must Have' List
*Kartoth the Bloodhunger, both so he can say he won the game as well as rip holes to go back in time for more collecting.
*Abaddon, no, really!
*Saint Celestine, go read The Fall of Cadia!
*A lock of the Emperor's hair (Assuming it hasn't rotted away by the time he gets to Terra)
*Magnus the Red's favourite eye
*A 7th edition Sisters of Battle codex
*The Sanguinor in a stasis field
* One Sister of battle issue vibrator from each Order with viewing martial
*<s>A living Tyranid zoo (no stuffed dolls for our old collector). Would be much easier to accomplish if 'Nids didn't try to keep the fuck away from Necrons and their worlds.</s> Never mind. He gave up on this one after his specimens broke out of their exhibit and ate half of Solemence. Attempting to redo it on another planet near Solemence.
*One of each type of Eldar Aspect Warrior, arranged in complementing color order.
*Each Phoenix Lord, including the fallen Ahra or Drazhar (just in case he's Ahra); bonus points for the originals. Otherwise, something from them, such as one of Asurmen's twin-linked Shuriken Catapults or a lock of Jain Zar's hair (bonus points for getting things from all of their incarnations).
*A signed autograph from each Primarch. (Still asking Orikan for "access" to his time machine so he can get one from Ferrus Manus, Horus, Sanguinius, and Konrad Curze since they're all presently busy being dead.)
*A signed autograph from each chaos god.
*A sweet ride so he can cruise the galaxy looking for new junk
*The Fortress of Arrogance, preferably with Commissar Yarrick as well.
*Sammael's Jetbike
*A shoulder pad from each space marine chapter (Pre-heresy legions and post-heresy chapters all together of course, going for the complete set!)
*A Space Marine from each of the first founding chapters (this collection would be easily finished if not for the fact that he cant find any marines from the two missing legions).
*A painting of one of the Emprah, Tzeentch, Cegorach, and the Deceiver's card games.
*A circus filled with nothing but Eldar Harlequins.
*A <s>school report and childhood items</s> first set of kid-sized slave shackles of Asdrubael Vect.
*A garage filled with one of each type of the Imperial Guard's tanks.
*A feather from Sanguinus's wing.
*An Imperial Titan that has been CREEEEEEEDed.
**A snap shot of the look on Abaddon's face upon seeing aforementioned Titan in the middle of his battle line, shouting CREEEEEEEED
*Abbadon's arms. Creed hid them so well that even Trazyn is having trouble finding them.
*A matching pair of Angry Marine Powerfeet.
*A pair of a Sisters Of Battle Canoness Regulation Holy Panties from each Order, stolen from their quarters while they are asleep. Is surprisingly hard to pull off, even for Trazyn.
*A set of Lelith Hesperax's Combat Attire after a fight. This is even harder to pull of than the Sisters of Battle Canoness Regulation Holy Panties.
*One of the fingers from the Talon of Horus.
*Slaanesh's entire porn collection
*One of Ferrus Manus's hands. He isn't picky which.
*An Imperial Knight from each house.
*The Panacea STC.
**And since Lady Malys got there first, anything cool she owns, as well as a selfie with her before and after she realizes he stole her stuff.
*The Eye of Horus. As in the actual Eye.
*Commander Puretide and/or all of his students.
*A calm and rational World Eater marine.
*A clean and disease free Death Guard marine.
Fall of Cadia
Oddly enough, it appears that Trazyn decided 'aid' the Imperium in their defense of Cadia (he decided that after 60 million years it would be interesting to play the hero for once). He knows the secrets of the Pylons on Cadia, and he even releases Imperium people from his collection (represented in game by letting you deep strike units, if you take Trazyn in your Imperium army). What a great guy giving up his collection to have more space for other exotic exhibits...
Specifically he got the feeling that something was coming after the Bell of Saint Gersthal started chiming in his collection, messing with the programs of his Tomb World and sending his forces back into stasis, ringing thirteen times before ceasing. He then headed off to the Celestial Orrery on Thanatos to see what the fuck was going on (but not before casting the bell into the webway, hoping it would be as much of a pain in the Eldar's ass as it was his). And what do you know, there was but the Crons' watching over the thing could do nothing about it cause they were just meant to watch over the thing, not play galactic peacekeepers (although they eventually let him in, the guards weren't happy that Trazyn was there, due to an incident where some priceless artifact mysteriously went missing the last time he visited). Thus Trazyn decided to take up the role as a savior for once (mostly because he was bored and wanted to try something other than grave-robbing), and find the source of the corruption, which happened to be the little boring world of Cadia.

Long story short, Trazyn went off to Cadia released some parts of his collection (most notably Inquisitor Greyfax, though that is mostly just because his old Pen Pal Valeria was apparently killed by another human), and helped the Imperial forces screw around with the Pylons. Which somewhat backfired to put it lightly, though not that it mattered much to him because he stopped caring about playing the hero role and figured that while he was around he could find something for his collection to commemorate such a historic moment. And while he was originally hoping to claim Abaddon for his collection, his second choice was no less impressive.

Creed stands alone on the ruined surface of Cadia. He sees a metal giant in a scaled cloak in front of him, hand outstretched.

"Ursurkar E. Creed - This is not your end. Eternity Awaits"....

*A picture with Kharn.

Armageddon is an Imperial Hive World in Segmentum Solar. It is one of the most well-known hive worlds in the galaxy, with an industrial output surpassing that of many forge worlds. As it supplies dozens of worlds with materials and protection, Armageddon is a strategically vital world and is heavily garrisoned. Climate-wise, Armageddon is an ash-filled polluted hellhole. On the main continent there is little more than ash filled deserts, though it's southern regions and the secondary continent have jungles. It is home to the Steel Legion, one of the most recognized Imperial Guard Regiments in the galaxy and Armageddon was also the location of some of the largest wars in the history of the galaxy, including the Third War for Armageddon which was the largest land and space battle in the history of the Imperium of man, barring none, and the subject of numerous failed Imperial Assaults during a small occurrence called The war of the beast. Notably it was also the largest gathering of Space Marine ships in history, including during the Siege of Terra or the Ullanor Crusade (the latter of which was what led the Emperor to declare Horus his Warmaster).

Speaking of which, it turns out there's a good reason for why the place is an Ork magnet. It turns out that the planet is actually the teleported Ullanor itself, ancestral home of two of the greatest Ork Empire's to have ever existed. So, perhaps unknowingly, the Ork's aren't invading. They're coming home.

First War for Armageddon
The Beginning
The first war for Armageddon began with a series of Chaos rebellions in the hive populous as the demon space hulk Devourer of Souls came out of the warp above the planet. Much of the World Eaters chaos space marine legion was aboard the hulk, and they made planetfall amid the bloody rebellions, slaughtering all resistance on the main continent. Realizing that the main hives were lost, what was left of the loyalist populations on armageddon retreated to the smaller continent across the sea to regroup and resupply at the small military bases and outposts located there. For a few short weeks while the Khornate hordes busied themselves with sacrificing civilians to summon daemons to bolster their ranks, and the Loyalists used this time to fortify as well as they could, but they had little more to offer their foes than flashlights and insults. As the Blood God's hordes turned their eyes to the last defenders, now bolstered by daemons and the Daemon Primarch Angron himself. The ragged refugees and soldiers could do little more than pray for deliverance when...

The Cavalry Arrives
Out of the fucking blue with no real lore explanation the Vlka Fenryka showed up, led by the Old Wolf himself! The wolves blasted the fuck out of the Devourer of Souls and made planetfall to help the remaining Planetary Defense Force and Steel Legion forces defend the remaining civilians while they awaited the help that Logan had called for. They actually started gaining ground against the World Eaters, until Angron and his Cruor Praetoria, his bodyguard of twelve Bloodthirsters, charged the Imperial line and started chopping up everything that stood between them and Armageddon's south pole, the Grey Knights fucking finally showed up to the party. This 'ragged brotherhood' fought Angron and his Bloodthirster posse and won when their brotherhood's Grandmaster was able to banish Angron after Hyperion shattered the daemon Primarch's blade. Of the 109 Grey Knights who took to the field, 13 survived.

The Months of Shame
Following Angron's banishment the Wolves and Steel Legion were able to destroy the few Khornate forces that remained. Given that the whole planet had been contaminated by chaos, by the sanction of an inquisitor lord the remaining population of Armageddon, civilians and soldiers alike, were to be sterilized and sent to inquisitorial compounds to be worked to death, and any Space Wolves who had seen the Grey Knights were to be mindwiped, save for Grimnar. The Space Wolves were not fucking amused. Logan politely and calmly explained to the inquisitor that by punishing the citizens of Armageddon for their heroism and survival, the inquisition were sullying the honor of the men that yet lived and disrespecting the memories of the dead. The inquisitor more or less told Logan to go fuck himself. The Old Wolf was not amused. Shortly after this exchange the refugees and soldier survivors started to mysteriously "disappear" from inquisitorial custody. The inquisition pretty quickly figured out was up and called the Wolves to explain their deeds, but they weren't feeling talkative. The inquisition began firing on any civilian craft leaving the planet, including the ones escorted by the Space Wolves, who blocked the inquisitorial fire, first with their void shields and then with the hulls of their ships, but never fired back. After months of tense standoffs and passive resistance against the inquisition, the Space Wolves finally got sick of the inquisiiton's shit when they destroyed the relic Battle Barge Scramsaex and the space vikings started shooting back. Evidently the inquisitor lord thought it was a good idea to be in a void war with Logan Grimnar, a dude who can call on EIGHT battle barges and FUCKING THIRTY strike cruisers. He was wrong.

The End
After months of the inquisition getting its ass kicked the Inquisitor finally called on every resource he could muster and set off to Fenris with an entire Imperial Navy fleet, a Grey Knights strike cruiser and the entire Red Hunters chapter fleet. To make a long story short the wolves lost some ships and some men, the inquisition lost a lot of ships and men, and everything ended with Logan Grimnar teleported onto the Grey Knight's strike Cruiser, killed the inquisitor and Grandmaster, and threw Hyperion a beating, but was forced to stand down when Bjorn teleported up into the party and had what is quite possibly the single most "Bjorn" moment ever. Not only did he tell the inquisition to get off his damn lawn, not only did he tell Logan to quit making so much damn noise with his out-of-hand party, Bjorn actually came onto a Fenrisian inquisitor, calling her a "beautiful frost-born maiden" (or some other flowery shit, it's been a couple years since I read The Emperor's Gift, okay?) revealing himself to be a krachety old romantic neckbeard. Everyone was pretty fucking dumbfounded, and the inquisitor was dead, so everybody pretty much went their own way.

TLDR: Wolves fought the inquisitors, it was a draw.

Second War for Armageddon
To make a short story even shorter, the Second War for Armageddon was a massive fucking meatgrinder full of happy orks and pissed off humans. Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka arrived on the planet with a bunch of Roks and a few billion Orks and decided to make things more interesting. Armaggeddon's ruler at the was a fucker by the name of Herman von Strab. A man so delusionally assured of his own abilities and decisions, Strab ignored every piece of sensible tactical advice given and sent numerically inferior, split focus forces to fight against the uncharacteristically clever ork hordes. Examples of his shittery include deploying a titan legion without any kind of support, resulting in their total defeat. When things really started going south, he evacuated to his private bunker and bombarded his own cities with past-the-use-by-date virus bombs, killing millions of his own people as well as the orks. The planet was only saved due to the actions of a few loyal but disobedient commanders, including Commissar Yarrick, the Old Man himself, who took over and started getting shit done. Yarrick managed to hold things together with his half-whipped and half-starved forces until the marines arrived to help out. Commander Dante arrives with a taskforce to finish the fight. Ghazghkull fucked off to space. Kinda like WWI. All this war did was: create Mephiston and set the scene for the big war that came after, which brings us to...

Third War for Armageddon
The third war for Armageddon was the biggest land war in the history of the Imperium and the galaxy's mosh pit. FUCKING EVERYONE was there. Well. All the orks and humans anyway. Seriously, all 9 former SM legions were there along with a lot of successors, there were a dozen titan legions and a metric fuckton of guard regiments, along with a few billion orks. There were more Void Ships and ground forces at the third war for Armageddon than any other war in the history of mankind, surpassing even the Siege of Holy Terra and the Ullanor Crusade (though this has been partially retconned by our overlords). Commanding this clusterfuck you had High Marshal Helbrecht in charge of the Void Battle, as the Templars are void specialists and Commissar Yarrick in overall command on the ground (says a lot about how hardcore Yarrick is that even the Astartes were willing to take orders from this guy). Short story shorter Ghazghkull was annoyed that he had to fuck off to space last time, so he came back with even MORE orks to come back and get Yarrick, though this time the Imperium was prepared and eventually forced a stalemate. Ghazghkull got bored and fucked off to space again, with Yarrick joining the Templars on an epic road trip to go smite the green fucker, only to be left in the proverbial dust when Gork and Mork intervened on Ghazghkull's behalf. The conflict has kept going ever since, with no sign of slowing down.

Meanwhile, the events of the Gathering Storm ended up putting Armageddon directly in the path of the Blood Crusade- a colossal legion of Khorne Daemons who almost certainly are ready for a second round. Given the recent activity of the other Daemon Primarchs, it's not a stretch to assume that Angron will be involved with this invasion as well.
"Uninteresting, hard to remember, and likes bikes. You should totally join the White Scars, you would fit right in."
—Emps to an unnotable middle man

The White Scars are a Chapter of Space Marines that are basically Mongols in Power Armor and on bikes, in contrast to the Space Vikings of the Space Wolves and Space Vampires of the Blood Angels. Their Primarch was known as Jaghatai Khan. Their requisite one-trick-pony is hit-and-run attacks, which they do on those sweet bikes of theirs.

Also, their bikes (mounts?) don't give a fuck about difficult terrain (Bitch, I'm a bike!).

Organization
They are also known for their sweet mustaches and the Scars they make on their faces upon induction into the Chapter. They are also known for the Scars they make on the enemies of the Emprah's faces after induction into the Chapter. Which is introduced into the chapter after Jaghatai was reunited with the 5th Legion, (i.e. his legion) as he had recently united the fierce tribes of the Talksar tribesmen. Never mind that many Talksar did join the legion due to their loyalty to Jaghatai. Also, they only recruit from Jaghatai's adopted homeworld: Mundus Planus (known as Chogoris to the natives). Up until the Horus Heresy there was a mix of Terran and Chogorian legionaries(and quite likely many legionaries from other diverse planets across galaxy), but the Terrans often struggled with the Scars' way of doing things, especially their ethos of "retreat, then return" after years of learning the standard "no backwards step" and linguistic differences.

While Jaghatai Khan and his legion willingly embraced the Codex Astartes (up until the Ullanor Crusade, they hardly ever operated as a full Legion so splitting into Chapters wasn't much of an issue) they do still follow their own traditions and so have a few changes to the codex. Namely their Stormseers are a mix between Librarians and Chaplains who also pick the Chapter's Khans. Another thing of note is their dislike of Dreadnoughts, much like the Grey Knight chapter they would rather let the fallen have their rest (that, the whole speed thing- it's like a Formula 1 driver being condemned to eternity in a milk float- and claustrophobia). Rumours abound of attempts at creating fast Dreadnoughts, which ended very messily.

And of course the whole biker thing, making slower moving tanks and troops (like Devastators) rare, in their place they have a large amount of drop pods, Land Speeders and Rhinos. Plus bikes, lots and lots of bikes. Plus space bikes.

They have an incredibly deep, abiding rivalry with the Raven Guard because of their conflicting general tactical doctrines--and according to Deathwatch a failure to cooperate in an old war campaign destroyed any chances of fostering ties they might've had. While the Raven Guard prefers to lie in wait and plan out their attacks down to the letter to ensure the most efficient results are achieved when they finally start their attacks, the White Scars pretty much does the opposite and just rush in chainswords drawn and use their fast-attack specialty to overwhelm their opponents with sheer speed and force. Despite the animosity the two forces have fought alongside one another on multiple occasions, and it's worth noting it's more of a competitive rivalry in any case. Plus lately the Ravens rode shotgun on a Great Hunt, which made for a great bonding exercise.

Despite their savage image, they're actually one of the most cultured legions in the Imperium, with aspirants having to take up pursuits like poetry (often about their battles), painting and calligraphy, and wearing silks in their downtime. As a result they don't like hanging around with the mad drunk Vikings who treat the whole barbarian thing like a badge of honour. The only cultural traits they share are hunting (though it's hinted at that the Scars are more into falconry) really enjoying their job, frequently admonishing recruits to laugh and smile when fighting. Unfortunately they don't hang out with anyone apart from their successors, so the rest of the Imperium has kept this misconception for millennia.

They used to get on well with the Luna Wolves - particularly the Terran portion of the Legion, many of whose members had aspired to join the other Legion only to find themselves seconded to the Scars (the Scars seem to have ranked just below the Space Wolves and World Eaters as the Legion aspirants most dreaded being assigned to). As a result of this, the Terran Khans tended to favour a mix of White Scars and Luna Wolves organisation and doctrine, to the point that they resented Jaghatai's leadership for being "flighty" compared to Horus' fully committed, crushing attacks. Their relationship with the sons of Horus brought the Warrior Lodges into the White Scars. This was fairly harmless at first, and might have helped bring the Terran and Chogorian Astartes together in time, but then the Horus Heresy happened. The Lodge members were duped (being kept in the dark about the whole Chaos and rebellion thing- as far as they were aware the only act of rebellion was the Space Wolves' smashing the Thousand Sons) into rebelling against their Primarch and trying to force the Scars into declaring for Horus.

The Chogorian portion of the legion on the other hand used to be a big bros with the Thousand Sons with Chogorian artistic culture colliding perfectly with the Prosperian knowledge-seeking and nerdity, not to mention the high positions psykers had in both legions. The fact that space furies pretty much forced TS into turning to Chaos does not play well wits Scars even to this day, which stacks with their dislike of Wolves' "barbarian and proud of it" shtick.

One might imagine Imperium being on high alert against Scars, seeing as only two legions they ever get along with went traitor, but surprisingly it's not the case. May have something to do with them being the heroes of the Siege of Terra.

Their current Chapter Master, or rather, 'Great Khan' is Jubal Khan. Legends are told of his sweet mustache across the entire length and breadth of the Imperium, which the mustache also spans. The Khan's bodyguard, the Keshig, are the only White Scars known to use Terminator Armour.

They probably get along well with the Attilan Rough Riders. If they'd been the first to encounter the Interex instead of the Luna Wolves, the two factions would have probably got along pretty well except for the Interex's implied issues about psykers. Also, the Scars would've dug that cyber-centaur armour.

Daily Rituals of a White Scar
04:00 - Rousing from slumber. The White Scars get up from their bikes.

04:10 - Grooming. White Scars tend to their mustaches and long, flowing hair.

05:00 - Morning Prayer. Those who have mustaches pray to the God-Emperor for the strength to defeat their enemies. Those without mustaches pray for mustaches.

06:00 - Morning Firing Rites. White Scars practice with their bike-mounted weaponry.

07:00 - Battle Practice. White Scars practice beheading a target with a single stroke of their swords during a 100 mph driveby.

12:00 - Midday Prayer.

13:00 - Midday Meal. White Scars consume the various meats they had put under their saddles during the morning exercises. Meal is now properly cooked from the heat of the bike, the metallic, promethium-like flavor is said to add to the taste. Milk mixed with promethium from their bikes is consumed as well.

13:15 - Tactical Indoctrination. White Scars are informed on which foes are the latest to elude the Chapter.

15:00 - Battle Practice. White Scars practice beheading a target with a single stroke while hanging from a Land Speeder.

20:00 - Evening Prayer.

21:00 - Evening Meal. A feast is provided by the Chapter serfs, consisting mostly of horse meat and fermented milk. Partaking in drinking songs is encouraged.

21:45 - Night Firing Exercises. The White Scars practice formations in the dark. Any marine who crashes into another is disciplined.

23:00 - Maintenance Rituals. White Scars spend time maintaining and customizing their bikes.

23:45 - Free Time. White Scars prefer to spend this time on things like poetry (about their battles), painting (their battles) and calligraphy (writing about their battles). Others opt for more time on the bike

00:00 - Rest Period. White Scars return to (or park) their bikes and sleep on them.

As a result they don't like hanging around with the [[Space Wolves]|mad drunk Vikings who treat the whole barbarian thing like a badge of honour].
