All is still downright bad, I find.|Goethe's Faust, Prologue in Heaven.}}

A Youtube series created by Bruva Alfabusa, the show follows the exploits of Emprah himself in his quest to bring the Imperium of Man to its former glory, helped by the captain of the Custodes "Little Kitten", Magnus (now forgiven and with soul) and a hilarious cast of other major 40k characters. The series has become a complete success, mostly by poking fun at many of the memes, traditions, and quirks of the 40k universe and the fandom, but also by some very awesome scenes, and, of course, great music. This shit has become so popular that it has its own fanfiction, and there's even a few quotes from the show scattered through the affected characters' pages here. Seriously. (Does that make them a fanfic... within a fanfic?)

Most fans agree that, while a wild and very unserious take on the 40k universe, the plot itself isn't actually that outlandish (apart from the Ultramarines capturing Magnus the Red...). If the Emps would wake up, it's pretty much a given that he would remove the worst parts of the Inquisition in short order, as well as enacting extensive reforms throughout the rest of the Imperial bureaucracy, while probably being an ass, as he always was. The unsure part is if the Emps would have learned from his 10,000 years of mistakes, which the series believes he has, deep inside. Doesn't help his temper though.

The series began back during the unending plot stagnation that has happened since third edition, though now that the plot's actually begun to move forward for a change, it is unknown how this will effect the series.

The so-called "TTS-verse" also includes Karl the Deranged's series Chaos Descends, and Eliphas the Inheritor's Behemoth trilogy. "Specials" are slated for story content that takes place outside the throne room. The show also has an in-character podcast that reviews Black Library books called If The Emperor Had a Podcast. As in, they go to the Webway Black Library, and pick up books published by GW's Black Library.

Dramatis Personae
Starting off with a few characters, the series has evolved to encompass a fuckton of major and minor characters, with their own small arcs and all. It's not quite OotS level, but it's getting there.

Team Emperor
*Emperor of Mankind: The Emprah, who's now able to verbally communicate with people after Techpriests installed a text-to-speech device on his throne. You know how Roboute Guilliman is a 'jerk with a heart of gold'? Well the Emperor is a massive frothing plasteel power ceramite spiked dickbag with tourettes and a heart of gold/platinum alloy studded with diamonds. Is currently planning to rebuild the Imperium after hearing the clusterfuck of stories from his Captain-General caretaker. He also has a pet Centurion (who turns out to be rather important on a primarch scale), which he finds adorable, while finding Dreadknights abominable. He is a jerk, frequently insulting the Captain General with little reason other than he can (and because it's funny), and dialogue with Magnus implies he's always been a prick. Nonetheless he is ultimately a sympathetic character who wanted to create a better future for humanity and the comedic outrage he displays at all the bad news he gets is justified given how he frequently hears about costly victories that could have been avoided if the men in charge were less incompetent and how the Imperium has been destroying itself (usually because of the Inquisition). The Emperor has a new plan for defeating Chaos after the "starve them out by getting rid of religion" plan didn't work, but like before, he refuses to tell anyone what that plan is (although this time around, it's apparently not because he doesn't trust anyone, but because he doesn't want to spoil the surprise). As of certain revelations post-Gathering Storm, he's definitely a lot nicer than canon Emprah. Such as getting incredibly furious when he hears that the Inquisition has been murdering his people and such. This Emperor seems to honestly care about each individual human, but accepts that his decisions cannot be based on that compassion.

* Custodes Captain-General (aka Kitten): Captain-General of the Adeptus Custodes and the only Custode who appears to have retained his sanity after the near-death of the Emperor, and for that matter one of the few sane humans in the Imperium. He serves as both the Emperor's personal caretaker and assistant, and pretty much the only person he regularly talks to and his main link to the outside world. Generally the only person the Emperor trusts and treats like a son, albeit constantly berating him whenever he does something stupid, or because he just feels like it. He also seriously hates Tau. One episode implies that it is because Shadowsun spurned him for the Greater GoOHISWEARTOFUCK THAT WAS NOT CANON! He is named Little Kitten by his fellow Custodes, for "purring his way so far into their ranks", but his real name is a long seemingly nonsensical word salad supposedly based on his accomplishments... But given how he's been stuck in the palace for the last ten thousand years said accomplishments include things like "Goldilocks-Sunshine-Graham-Corncob". His frequent emotional outbursts despite the supposed emotionless state of the Custodes is intentional, and played for humor. After being forced out of the position of caretaker by his fellow Custodes, Kitten fell into a depression, to which Magnus ominously is taking advantage of by making Kitten his ally in making the Imperium great again and totally not get back at the old man. So far all he has done was kill a bunch of Lacrymoles that were impersonating the High Lords of Terra. It has been revealed that his uncanny knowledge of the outside world (considering the hate of knowledge in the Imperium in general) could come from the Black Library itself. Has become a master of Paradox-Billiards-Vostroyan-Roulette-Fourth Dimensional-Hypercube-Chess-Strip Poker, defeating not only the Emperor (because of his refusal to unplug Guilliman) but also Tzeentch of all things. He has recently been turned silver by Tzeentch while playing a children's card game (Again) and winning over Magnus the Reds soul. In episode 25, the duo arrived on Nocturne and went to 'borrow' the Engine of Woes. At this point, Magnus accidentally kills Vulkan with the engine, which releases Corvus Corax, who was in there the whole time. The Salamanders and Corvus quickly became hostile to Magnus, however, so he teleported himself and Kitten away.

*Magnus the Red: The closest thing to a sane person besides the Captain-General (who plays the straight man depending on the situation). Retrieved from wherever within the Warp by the sheer plot-armor-powered efforts of Cato Sicarius and then brought to the Golden Throne, followed by the Emperor bullying Tzeentch in order to steal back Magnus' soul. Touched, he somehow managed to forgive the Emperor (sort of) and decided to help the Emps with his plan to fix the Imperium, but Emps being a jerk to him is starting to test his patience. The shiny new bike he was given helped with their reconciliation, though just how well his apparent heel-face turn has actually stuck is up for debate at best. The first thing he did with the bike was run over a bunch of kids on the street, possible foreshadowing? He may not be actively working for Chaos anymore, but he also quickly runs out of patience with his father and is attempting to fix the Imperium without his help, partly because he has serious doubts about his current sanity (which is kind of justified), and partly just to spite him. Fortunately, as a Primarch and a particularly knowledgeable one at that, Magnus can probably get it done just fine on his own. Magnus turns into a neckbearded daemon cyclops that is a bit reminiscent of his old model back in Epic, whenever he enters rage mode - usually prompted by any mention of Space Wolves, causing him to flashback to the Burning of Prospero. Is currently undertaking some obscure scheme with the unwitting aid of the Captain-General Kitten including attempted assassination of the High Lords of Terra and "borrowing" the Engine of Woes from Nocturne. While playing with an ouija board on board a ship with Kitten, Tzeentch arrives to "reclaim" custody of him from his "abusive" father, and morphs him back into his Daemon Prince form. It took Kitten playing a child's card game (again) with Tzeentch to keep Magnus out of his clutches. On the other hand, Magnus is stuck in his Daemon Prince form while Kitten theoretically owns his soul (much to his embarrassment and dismay). In episode 25, the couple arrived on Nocturne and went to 'borrow' the Engine of Woes. Magnus decides to sneak into the base instead of using his OP invisibility though after a bit of poking at Kitten (it involves Tau, guaranteed to piss him off) then decides to go yell in a North England accent at a guard. The Engine OF Woes, a green hatchback car (<s>the infamous Fiat Multipla</s> a Smart Fortwo) then released the thousands of years trapped Corvus Corvax after Magnus killed Vulkan for hugging him. The entire chapter of the Salamanders pops up and are very hostile with Magnus. (Well, as hostile as the Salamanders can get. Which basically equates to purposefully hugging you so hard your spine snaps, instead of accidentally doing so). Corax isn't happy either as he was released from his super dark hole which forces Magnus to teleport himself and Kitten away. Vulkan suddenly super healed himself again and wants to hunt/hug Magnus. The chase is on!

*<s>Rogal Dorn</s> Lord Adorable: Primarch of the Imperial Fists. Is revealed as the Emperor's personal Centurion, with whom he had nightly cuddling sessions prior to his reveal. He came out of hiding after Kitten brought up the topic of discussing the Space Wolves, where he vehemently suggested not to discuss the Wolves to prevent Magnus from spazzing out. His extreme bluntness is shown to be less because he is an asshole and more because he is extremely oblivious and literal-minded and his stubborness, a trait ingrained also in his legion, grants him such a closed-minded view and lack of understanding of social situations that he almost always fails to read sub-texts or commonly understood jokes/innuendos. Then again, given that his idea of humor largely involves the analysis of reality, e.g. "Slapping your hands together to make noise is a strange way of expressing praise", he could just be trolling everyone by acting the laconic fool in response to "fool-proof" metaphors. Additionally, in episode 24 it is greatly implied he is fully aware of everything going on, including the Emperor's plans, implying he has some form of "super sanity". Or maybe it's due to using a fucking chainsword to scratch his head. Before his disappearance he used to consult his "magic pain glove" until his hand fell off. Despite his eccentricities and his probable inability to understand sarcasm, he can still make surprisingly lucid observations such as that the End Times are coming and that not even the Chaos Gods will survive the inevitable heat death of the entire Universe. He even manages to, perhaps unwittingly, deliver one of the sickest burns yet on the Emperor, leaving him speechless (Linked here: ). Actually, nearly every line he spouts is full of unintentional hilarity. Is fully capable of "The Laughter". Also believes fully that the "taco tuesday" is the true path, and disbeliefs that "taco friday" is a thing, accusing his father of being a liar for implementing such a belief, making Rogal start the "Dornian Heresy", end of the taco friday, and possibly the end of Emps. (Emperor Protect us!)

Imperials (So sorta good guys)
*The Pillar-stodes (Wamuudes, Custodisi, Karstodes): Some of the Emperor's personal companions from the Great Crusade days, and the current Tribunes of the Adeptus Custodes. After his interment into the Golden Throne, the rest of the Custodes have shed their armor as a sign of mourning. This, however, has also caused them to become fabulous hedonists (although somehow not to a Slaaneshi-tier extreme, they actually despise slaaneshi daemons the most, much to the Emperor's confusion), which greatly disturbs the Emperor. They also have no respect for their Captain General and don't even seem to remember that he's their superior, actually taking away his job as the emperor's caretaker by doing something for him. They constantly slip innuendos into their conversations, much to the discomfort of everyone involved. Except for Rogal; he's too literal-minded to notice. A running gag with them is that whenever the Pillarstodes come into a scene, they would dynamically jump in from nowhere with their own personal theme song. The three Pillarstodes appearance is based on the Pillar Men from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency; a group of fabulously well-built, half-naked Aztec vampire demigods seeking immortality. (they also make obscure jojo references at times). They do have discernible personalities; the one who makes all the innuendo, the one obsessed with greasing his body parts, and the one who isn't the other two. Two (Custodisi and Karstodes) wind up encountering Cegorach in front of the Black Library. They manage to gain entrance and retrieve a surpising amount of literature on the White Scars, but are traumatized by the Laughing God & are mentally exhausted from sifting through so much knowledge. Apparently, Cegorach was quite scary, as they are terrified after hearing his "[BAZINGA]" cue; although it may simply be a reference to that one time when two Harlequins managed to enter the Imperial Palace and slaughtered a shit load of Custodes while claiming to have come in peace and simply want to deliver a message to the Emperor (and the best is that one of them was saved by the Inquisition in the name of inter-species friendship, in spite of the Captain General being hell bent on killing both), so it is actually no surprise at all that some Custodes have got massive traumas. Recently after the trip to the black library, Custodisi and Karstodes have been semi corrupted and began spouting khornate speech and wishing to genocide the normies in the anger intervention against helbrecht high marshal of the black templars. Actually, back in 2nd edition where you could play Chaos bands in a rpg fashion style, there was a tiny possibility for your lord of Choas to be a Custodes! So, Chaos Custodes are (were) canon... and compared to modern Geedubs, this shows relies quite a lot on old Fluff.
*Diavodes: Another crazy Jojo-Custodes (this one is based on Diavolo from part 5), he appeared out of the blue and asked Kitten and Magnus if they knew who he was, and was content to hear that they didn't. Once alone, he started to laugh maniacally, declaring that soon the new Emperor would be him, Diavodes! Also may or may not be a familiar face in disguise.

*The High Lords of Terra: The people responsible for running the Imperium itself. Despite this the majority of the High Lords never really discuss or do anything to the betterment of the Imperium and just act senile, once planning to outlaw breathing for everyone but them. For this reason Magnus wants them all dead and handle governing the Imperium directly, but Kitten may have succeeded in convincing them not to fuck over the Imperium so much. Apparently they High Lords are commonly recruited from the Old Folks' planet, a retirement home so terrible that the High Lords have banned ever saying its name. There are currently 5 (technically 7 if you count the Head Scribe and Fyoder) High Lords featured, aside from the Captain-General.¨ The High Lords are currently enjoying their time off/wallowing in misery thanks to the fact that the Emperor has pretty much made them obsolete, especially after he made making new laws illegal.

:*Ecclesiarch Decius XXIII: The only non-senile High Lord aside from the Captain General, who legitimately takes his post seriously, even standing up to Fyodor and forbidding him to shed a single drop of blood from Terra's population (which Fyodor circumvented by using incendiary weaponry). For not screwing up the Emperor's plan, not being an overzealous bag of insanity, and rushing to try to save the Emperor when Fyodor stormed Terra's Palace he is allowed to stay leader of the Ecclesiarchy, even as the Emps is disbanding it/just changing every mention of God-Emperor to Man-Emperor, due to the fact that he and those who obeyed Emprah now are in charge of reforming the Imperium from the craphole it has sink in. Loyalty to the man rather than the word finally paid off. Just about everyone mocks him for his hat, which gets limp or...stiff depending on his emotional state, leading to his nickname of Pope Shafthat XXIII He proved that despite the crap others give him, he can make some pretty rousing speeches on the fly. The Emperor is honestly pleased that Decius is genuinely loyal. When told by the Emperor that Emps is not a god, Decius is disappointed, but does not hesitate to accept it because his loyalty is strong enough that if the Emperor says he is not a god, then he is not a god. He also was ready to do his best to disband the Ministorum despite knowing what the priesthood would do to him for such "heresy" because the Emperor said to. Ultimately, his genuine loyalty is heavily rewarded by the Emperor. It probably also helps that the Emperor doesn't force Decius or the Ecclesiarchy to stop worshipping him all together, just as a God, instead allowing them to worship him as the pinacle of humanity and what everyone should aspire to.
:*Fabricator-General of Mars: The head of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Is so old that his voice stutters every time he speaks like a broken version of Stephen Hawking in addition to always speaking in little tunes. Constantly does nothing but insult his fellow High Lords for being made of flesh and recommend they swap out their fleshy bits for mechanical augmentations. According to other Magos, the Fabricator-General is also a massive junkie and party animal, and is currently drunk on margaritas on Mars.
:*Grand Provost Marshal: Head of the Adeptus Arbites, who does nothing but propose to make everything illegal. HE IS THE LAW... at least until The Emperor declares the act of making new laws to be illegal, something which utterly devastates him.
:*Master of the Administratum: The head of the Imperial bureaucracy. A bit less inept than the rest of the high lords, he acts like your everyday senile grandfather.
:*Commander Militant of the Imperial Guard: The leader of the Imperial Guard. Doesn't do much, apart from comparing war to the good ol' days. Aware enough to know that the removal of minor luxuries (laxatives, breathing) may have detrimental effects on the Imperial Guard. Lays a sicknasty dilarius biznasty beat.

----

The Ultrasmurfs
Very obnoxious and accompanied by the Ultramarine Chant from Chaos Gate. They apparently cannot be defeated due to their literal use of the "holy Codex" from their "Spiritual Liege." Managing to do nigh impossible feats. While the Emperor is not amused with them at all, he tolerates their OP plot armor to do impossible tasks for him such as retrieving Magnus from the Eye of Terror (with their Gellar Field turned off, of all things) with minimal casualties, finding and sneaking the rest of Vulkan's artifacts onto Nocturne, and (currently) outdancing the best Harlequin dancers in the Webway while searching for Jaghatai Khan. Other impossible tasks in the past include using a giant Necron Pylon as a melee weapon and outfighting a Transcendent C'tan shard.
*Marneus Calgar: Chapter Master of the Ultramarines. He's currently depressed and frustrated at the state of the Ultramarines where they basically win everything (due to their plot armor) as well as their strict adherence to the Codex Astartes to the point that it's no longer fun, nor satisfying, to win anymore. Due to this, his mood is eternally grumpy, only made worse by Sicarius' constant gloating. He actually seems to care deeply for the men under his command as he get extremely pissed off when Sicarius put his marines at unnecessary risk to achieve another victory to inflate his reputation, so one could assume Sicarius is the exception. He also appears in a flashback during the second Tyranid war in Ultramar, where he did battle with the Swarmlord. While he put up a valiant fight, he found that they were equally matched, and thus, declared it a draw. Blatant hints point towards a deal he made with something to give his Chapter win more victories (hinted to have begun during the Second Tyrannic War), which he deeply regrets.
*Illiyan Nastase: Chief Astropath of the Ultramarines. He received a brief mention during Episode 25, when he delivered a message to the Ultramarines Chapter Master, but did not receive any screentime. Marneus Calgar is deeply resentful of Illiyan's existence, and very adamantly insists on pushing him out of the spotlight and removing all mentions of the half-eldar's existence. Because yes, Half-eldar serving the Ultramarines are canon. (Seriously, why does everyone forget Nastase was never a marine to begin with?)
*Cato Sicarius: Current Captain of the Ultramarines 2nd company. His persona's played as Cato's canon need to be a glory hound and the embodiment of the Ultramarines' plot armor, turned up to eleven, where he only cares for his advancement in the ranks of the Ultramarines and not much else. He apparently undertook the mission to capture Magnus the Red. Alone. Without his gellar field turned on, and his survival at such mission greatly pissed off Calgar to no ends, who was hoping he would die. He is also very verbal about his intention to take the position of Chapter Master, which greatly upsets, or rather, very pisses off, Calgar (as Cato's dialogues largely implies that he's better than him and wishes for his death), to the point where he threatens to perform an "Imperial Fisting" upon Sicarius with his Gauntlets if he continues such thoughts. He also has a very egotistical, effeminate voice that can only be described as "the love child of tinnitus and a jackhammer", and he always refers to himself in the third person. It's goddamn hilarious.
*Uriel Ventris: Current Captain of the Ultramarines 4th company. He doesn't have a lot of development yet, but appears as a close friend of Calgar and is the only one who's noticed the Ultramarines' theme of somehow always completing utterly suicidal missions. He comes to realize that some unknown force is tampering with space and time to rewrite history,(Probably has to do with an itsy bitsy little SHARD) covering up the Ultramarines past failures and playing up their successes to impossible levels, and starts to suspect that Calgar knows more about this than he's letting on. He also loves to talk about the unique green trim in his armor. He ALSO hates Cunto Shitarius. Who doesn't?
*Roboute Guilliman: The Emperor has regularly made a point of ordering the Custodes Captain-General to have him taken off life-support. Currently the only reason he's still alive is Kitten winning an epic duel in a children's card game against the Emperor. The result of his actions and the Codex Astartes horrifies his father. Going by the previous canon of Guilliman perhaps actually regenerating from the wounds that supposedly killed him, the Empra likely wants the time stasis field deactivated so he can finally get off his fucking ass. Though if we're going by official canon, it seems that the Emprah's intervention is no longer necessary. Amusingly, canon Guilliman's reaction to the Imperium upon being woken up isn't ostensibly that different to TTSD Emperor's (minus the swearing, bullying, and psychic temper tantrums).

The Iron Hands
*Ferrus Manus: Primarch of the Iron Hands. Due to him being dead, he only appears as a ghost. Strangely, only Vulkan and Corax are able to see and hear him, leading other people like Magnus to think that his brothers have gone insane (probably because they were at Isstvan V and watched him die). He does nothing but tell Vulkan and Corax that they (and flesh) are weak. Only his head is visible, leading to Vulkan calling him a skull-ghost, or a "Skhost".

The Salamanders
Salamanders are a bunch of pyromaniacs in Cataphractii Terminator armor, they are infamous for their obsession with fire and appear to be severely deaf; talking in very loud voices, not hearing Kitten freak out next to them or the Ultramarines sneak the artifacts past them while their infamous theme song was blaring, and later not hearing a trapped Corax called out for help.
*Vulkan: Primarch of the Salamanders. After the Ultramarines found the remaining artifacts of Vulkan in secret for the Salamanders, Vulkan returned to the chapter, where his return was greeted with great adulation (VUVUZELAS). He is notably quite crazy, both haunted by the not-ghost with a not-face of Ferrus Manus. He speaks with a distinct African/Jamaican accent and loves friendship (including cute aliens aka: Barking Toads). Died during his battle with the Beast, after pushing it into a reactor of WAAAGH energy, causing him to occasionally gain an Ork's speech patterns and violent vocabulary afterward (which is hilarious when juxtaposed with his normally friendly speech). Dies again after Magnus unintentionally telepathically crushed him under The Engine of Woes, the trunk of which Vulkan had locked Corvus Corax in, then promptly got better within mere minutes. Has used the darkest corner of the universe as a place to relax for over 9000 years and work on Gamesworkshop on his hobby Battlemace 42,000,000. He is currently traveling with Corax & the Salamanders across the Imperium before returning to Terra to finish giving the spine crushing hugs he wants to give to Magnus.
*He'stan: Forgefather of the Salamanders. He is seen sleeping on an anvil on fire when Cato Sicarius delivered the remaining artifacts to the Salamanders, literally driving them through the wall of the fortress into the Forgefather's personal chambers. Thinking he found the artifacts in his sleep, he subsequently declares himself to be best forgefather (and doesn't know that Vulkan was actually hiding for 9000 years in a very dark corner on the same planet).
*Tu'Shan: Chapter Master of the Salamanders. Rocks a sweet set of dragon armor and has a very knightly manner of speech.

The Raven Guard
A bunch of emotional, apologetic emos in Corvus armor with Jump Packs and Lightning Claws.
*Corvus Corax: Primarch of the Raven Guard. Apparently spent the past few millenia on Nocturne, trapped in a 3rd millenium smart car referred to as the "Engine of Woes" while writing edgy poetry. Is accidentally freed by Magnus when he uses the Engine of Woes to fight off Vulkan. Currently accompanying the Salamanders on a trip to the Imperial Palace. His personality is, hilariously, one of an edgy teenage goth, with his self-hate and moodiness turned up to eleven. Wants to show the Emprah his edgy poetry. Magnus and Kitten freak out when he appears. Looks surprisingly like John Wick, or Samurai Jack during Season 5 with unwashed ammonia encrusted long hair. Willing to accept his own death rather than bring it upon his friends and allies (Aka a deadly barking toad explosive sitting on his head, apparently forgetting he is immune to venoms and poisons).
*Kayvaan Shrike: Raven Guard Master of Shadows (AKA Chapter Master - because why not.). He seems to be fairly bipolar, going from jovial to depressed at the drop of a hat. Also makes bird noises. Vulkan noted he was also extremely polite and apologetic; often saying sorry for things that weren't even his fault or deflecting apologies to him for misfortune by saying he deserves it for being neglectful.
*Kadus : In lore, Kadus is one of the most esteemed Space Marines in the Raven Guard Chapter and is one of Chapter Master Kayvaan Shrike's closest personal friends, having served together with him alongside his other friend, Corus, since their time as initiates. In the series, he accompanies Shrike and acts as his more level headed counterpart.

The Dark Angels
The Inner Circle are a ragingly paranoid group of neurotic basketcases, far more so than in canon. Keep having to make non-circle marines "repent" for overhearing them discussing the Fallen very loudly.

*Azrael: Chapter Master of the Dark Angels. He's depicted as an overly paranoid wreck, obsessing about Cypher, the Fallen Angels and constantly telling any non-inner circle member that reports to them that they're doing nothing suspicious and heretical. The fact that he had two newly indoctrinated inner circle members killed because they stumbled onto knowledge of the fallen (that he spat out in front of them) is played for laughs.
*Belial: Grand Master of the Deathwing. His emo personality is hilariously turned to eleven whenever he perceives himself or his chapter as not being perfect, which is every waking second. This curiously allows him to become more reasonable than the rest of the Inner Circle, allowing him to converse with other people that doesn't outright accuse or threaten them. He has an effeminate yet whiny voice similar to Thurston Howell III.
*Asmodai: The Dark Angels' Master of Repentance (which basically means "Violent Murdering" to him). Not nearly as a fun police officer as his canon counterpart; his personality is psychotically intense, often telling people to redeem themselves or he'll do the actual redemption. However, given his views on "redemption", it usually doesn't end well (it tends to involve a crozius to the face). He's also as every bit as paranoid as Azrael. REPENT, MOTHERFUCKER.
*Watcher in the Dark (aka Snurko): A Watcher that accompanies Azrael, who is apparently the only one of its kind who can talk. It suddenly spoke of Cypher while in the presence of two newly indoctrinated inner-circle Angels, prompting Azrael to hilariously beat the shit out of it. His speech and mannerisms appears to be based off Orko from the He-man series.

The White Scars
*Jaghatai Khan: Primarch of the White Scars. During the Horus Humbug, he managed to pull off the amazing feat of standing still for more than 20 seconds (while standing on a Razorback going at 200 miles per hour, but still). After the Codex announcement, he may be in Commorragh, as he desired to go fast and beat "those knife-eared assholes" in their jetbike races. Not much is known about his whereabouts right now, but it does mean that we will get to see him. Also the emperor has stolen at least one of his bikes from his room.
*Kor'sarro Khan: The White Scars' Master of the Hunt and "The only White Scar worth mentioning". While he hasn't appeared, he is talked about at length in a public broadcast on the subject of the White Scars chapter. While Emps and co spend more time mocking Voldorius, The Emperor does briefly question why he isn't their Chapter Master, which is probably the biggest endorsement an individual space marine has gotten since the Horus Heresy.

The Black Templars
According to Rogal Dorn, absolute lunatics, obsessed with "PURGING WITH MY KIIIIIIIIIIIIIN"...
They enjoy listening to Linkin <s>Loyalists</s> Purge in their drop pods and ramming swords through xenos skulls. Actually not that far off canon.May be slightly improving after being forced/convinced to have ordinary humans, psykers, librarians, ratlings and all other sorts of abhumans a in their ranks.
*Chaplain Grimaldus: Shows up in a filler short where he tries to ban the holiday of Sanguinala. The other Black Templars tell him he can't, prompting him to go to his bed and throw a loyalist tantrum.
*High Marshal Helbrecht: Received an anger management course from the Emperor and the custodians and was semi-convinced to teach the Black Templars to not be completely batshit insane. Also has a voice like that of a clown goblin gargling marbles. Prefers sitting on things that are stiff and very hard to things that are soft and limp. Was very pleased at the prospect of the Emperor shitting on the UltraSmurfs, a phrase he interpreted as being a literal desire to defecate upon them. Nasty.

The Space Corgis
Renamed by official decree by the Emperor himself after being informed of how everything in their vernacular seemed to have been prefaced by the word "wolf", including curse words, such as Leman Russ replacing the word "fucking" with "wolfing".

*Leman Russ: Primarch of the Space Corgis. Has been hiding in the Warp. Has a verbal staredown with Karamazov, then proceeds to relentlessly mock him while obsessing over wolves. He also gives a thorough dressing-down of the 3 branches of the Inquisition, as well as the Deathwatch, Tempestus Scions and Sisters of Battle accompanying them (delivering the infamous line "Daemons of Khorne are gonna eat ya out like ice cream sandwiches once your Red Rage begins!"). He even has his own version of the Navy Seal Copypasta. Despite being a viking, he has a pseudo-Scottish accent. Magnus has accused him of being a furry. He is currently teaching the Inquisition how to survive in the Warp by turning them into a drunken mob and killing innocent daemons. This include pranks of various sorts, such as crank calling Furies, cockblocking a Daemonette at a bar (which actually kills it), and assaulting one of Nurgle's daemons with a fuckload of soap. After learning that Magnus is currently located in the imperial palace he decided to get out of the warp and go back to Terra, and is currently marching to the gate of Khaine, alongside with karamazov and Kaldor Draigo.

*Space Wolves Wulfen: any mention of the Wulfen is normally echoed with someone shouting "Digganobz" in a demented manner. This is referred within a youtube short: the Grandmaster of the Grey Knights, Sir Covan Leorac, was presented an image of the Wulfen and he called them Digganobz. And yes they really do look like Digganobz.

The Grey Knights
*Kaldor Draigo: The Supreme Grand Master of the Grey Knights, who is cursed to wander The Warp for eternity. Centuries wandering unrealspace however, eroded Draigo's sanity, which might not be a bad thing as his craziness allows him to both stay in the warp without any trouble and murder daemons left and right (remember: the warp is a reflection of the minds of mortals and psykers can influence it to a higher degree. Draigo's insanity and powerful psychic talents allows him to shrug off the madness of the warp, simply because he believes without a shadow of a doubt that he can). He's made several appearances, first is annoying Fyodor's attack force after being banished into the warp by Magnus and later summoned by Kitten to handle Magnus' tantrum, which he does so in a split-second offscreen using inexplicable Mary Sue powers to defeat him. He now hangs around with Russ and company, and is the only one besides Russ who can safely traverse the warp sober and troll daemons without his head exploding. Has apparently been sending Daemons (in the form of ordinary villagers, with jobs and families) into the "Super Warp" by throwing vortex grenades at them (given that they're already in The Warp, the grenades would suck them to an even deeper version of The Warp).

*Covan Leorac: A Grand Master of the Grey Knights. He appears in a short video where some Grey Knights report <strike>solid evidence of the Wulfen among the Space Wolves</strike> FAHCK YOU! DIGGANOBZ. However, Covan is absolutely convinced that they're Digganobz and not Wulfen, even hitting a Knight in the head for disagreeing with. Whether this is a jab at GW heavily basing the look of Wulfen on Digganobs or is in conscious denial to prevent the Grey Knights from waging a costly war upon the Space Wolves (again) is up to interpretation.

The Imperial Guard (Aka:'Astra Militarum', 'Imperial Army', or 'the wall of guns')
*Sly Marbo: The One-Man Army and Hero of the Imperium!, he first appears in the April Fools episode where he was apparently recruited by Horus. Appeared in the real series saving Little Billy and some farmers from the Kabal of the Flayed Skull in the middle of their raid on a random Agri-World. Later showed up at the invitation of Lucius to the Slaaneshmas Special where he begins beating up Typhus, Ahriman, and Lucius. While the scene turns to static, Lucius and Ahriman later show up on screen again. They commented that he was apparently a pretty great guy. Lucius apparently mixed up his contact info with Kharn's at one point. Later shows up to save the life of Corvus, who was attempting to sacrifice himself to save the Catachans due to having an explosive poisonous Barking Toad on his head. He's stated to be the single most decorated soldier in the entire history of humanity despite only being a Private, and "his aerodynamic musculature and knowledge of Catachan jungle tree buoyancy" helps him "simulate flight" (which is apparently interstellar). Confirmed to NOT be a missing Primarch. He exclusively communicates by screaming; the scream he uses is the one lifted from the Dawn of War I opening cinematic where the sergeant orders the charge up the hill. He also weaponizes the subtitles of the scream by hitting enemies with them both as a ram and as a club.
*Ollanius Pius: Makes a split second appearence at 15.00 on Episode 24 before being headbutted to death by Horus. (Shame on you if you dont know this super dude, so read his history now!) In another episode, the Emperor takes the time to set the record straight that while Ollanius did in fact sacrifice himself for the Emperor, a Terminator and Custodes quickly followed suit in order to not be shown up by a mere mortal human. He was not amused by their transparent attempt to outshine Ollanius.
*Death Korps of Krieg: As of the second voxcast, they can finally rest assured that the Emperor has personally forgiven them. What the Death Korps will do now that they've officially redeemed themselves remains to be seen, assuming they actually want to do something other than fight and die in battle.
*Catachan Jungle Fighters (pronounced "Kata-kan")(by Straken, confusing everyone): Elaborated on in the first episode of "BRO TRIP 40,000: A Tale of Two Primarchs", being saved from a Slaaneshi Daemon invasion by the intervention of Vulkan and Corvus. Armed primarily only with knives (albeit some of the best knives in the universe due to the special Catachan metals) and basic clothing (shirts optional) in one of the most hazardous places in the universe, their survival and natural Space Marine-like physique provides a massive boost to the morale of the Imperium in a manner known as "marketability". Their culture is similar to that of Orks, measuring knife size to determine rank.
*Colonel "Iron Hands" Straken: Leads the Catachan II regiment and is extremely good at guiding(tongue lashing)his troopers. Sly Marbo is also officially designated to the II regiment.

Sisters of Battle
*Ephrael Stern: The infamous Daemonifuge has finally reached the Black Library, but she's none too pleased with the Eldar's selection of food. Treads the path of the swole. She tells off Cegorach to his face, causing him to sulk off (incidentally allowing Custodisi and Wamuudes to enter the library).

Adeptus Mechanicus
*Reimleiz the Theorist: An attendant techpriest whom the Emperor calls "random mechanicus guy". He was originally searching for a motorbike for Rogal Dorn to use, inside Jaghatai Khan's shed. As of the Black Templars podcast, Emps made him an Inquisitor and then commanded him to find out more about the Omega Vault. He was inexplicably on the floor at the time. Is incapable of making any statement without phrasing it as a question and is constantly asking himself trivial questions for no real reason (such as asking if legs are actually vehicles driven by tiny snotlings). Also has a penchant for slapping his cyberdong on toasters, which many mechanicus adepts around the system appear to be visibly fixated upon.
*Dolphan Gruss: A Magos Explorator sent to Orior by the Admech to investigate the planet's STC. He is very blunt and dismissive when dealing with "fleshbags", and does so while speaking with a French accent. His most remarkable feature, however, is a drill that replaces his right hand, which, predictably, makes him the butt of many anime-related jokes, much to his dismay.
*Belisarius Cawl: He hasn't done anything to Gulliman (yet, anyway), but Rogal Dorn apparently did see him talking with Gulliman about something in the past. Apparently he's not that great at keeping secrets, as there are rumors circulating about him working on something related to Thunder Warriors that even managed to reach the Imperial Palace. The Emperor understandably expects little to come from this, expecting Cawl's work to be hindered by the mechanicus' usual dogma.

Adversaries
*Abaddon the Despoiler: Has yet to personally appear in the series, but has so far has been contacting various Chaos Champions to enlist their help with the next Black Crusade, will be voiced by Takahata101 of Team Four Star fame.
*Fulgrim: Has yet to personally appear in the series, but appears to have already joined Abaddon in his plans. He makes his appearance as the person who called Lucius to get him to join Abaddon.

*Lord Inquisitor Fyodor Karamazov: Inquisitor of the Ordo Hereticus and a colossal jerk even among inquisitors. When the Emperor disbanded the Inquisition, he went ballistic and led an entire crusade to Terra to purge what he thinks is heresy. Ended up in the Warp via Magnus for his troubles, after being trolled in a magnificent manner by being told he is a fragment of the Emperor. This was all the Emperor's plan for sending out the message in the first place, to lure in all the more destructive Inquisitors to get rid of them. He's not out of the game yet, though, and is determined to return to the Emperor. He has become substantially more crazy after Leman Russ' Warp Survival lessons. Completly convinced he's the Emperor, and seems to regret what a horrible father "he" was more than Emprah himself.

:*Dominique: The sentient scribe servitor on Fyodor's Throne of Judgement. He comically makes fun of Fyodor on several occasions and generally breaks the serious atmosphere that the Lord Inquisitor tries to project. He also has a curious predilection for sandpaper cigarettes and a rapacious drug habit. Died inexplicably during the Inquisition's drunken rampage, most likely due to alcohol poisoning. It is never explained why Fyodor tolerated his nonsense for so long, but as Dominique regularly got away with sass sufficient to warrant a summary execution for a planetary governor, let alone a servitor, and Fyodor is not portrayed as being a particularly stable or calm individual, it's clear *something* was in play keeping Dominique employed and alive. Voiced by Gonzo the Great. Technically dead now, but his corpse remains in Fyodor's chair and is somewhat animate while in the Warp.

*Ordo Malleus Inquisitor: One of the Inquisitors accompanying Fyodor. He appears as an Inquisitor brandishing bulky power armor, almost resembling Terminator armor (because it is, since it's a Grey Knight Grand Master, called "Grey Knight Leader" in the ending; on a side note, the Ordo Malleus has human size Terminator Armours in its possession). Is the most level-headed of the group.

*Inquisitor Adrielle Quist: One of the Inquisitors accompanying Fyodor whom you'd recognize if you've ever seen them. A xeno fetishist, evidence suggests she is actually a tsundere for Genestealers, and only dreams of being held in the strong, manly arms of her Broodlord-kun. She appears to be the bad cop of the group with a short temper and a rough, Russian accent. She claims that the letter of disbanding inquisition was written by a genestealer cult under the Emperor's name. While stuck in the warp with Fyodor and the rest, she assaults Kairos after asking if he's a Genestealer, naturally not caring which of his heads answered "Yes". Even mentioning Genestealers in her presence causes her to fly into a berzerker rage. Later, during the Halloween special, she is apparently able to briefly manifest into realspace, similar to Kaldor Draigo, whenever someone mentions anything about Genestalers.

*Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor: One of the Inquisitors accompanying Fyodor. He appears as an Inquisitor dressed in black and using a bolt pistol with a sight mount (which is exactly from the front cover of Dark Heresy). Don't let his soft-spoken tone fool you - this guy gets aroused at the thought of executing other people regardless of what they've done. He is in favor of the door-kicking-and-burning-building type of Exterminatus, just like a medieval witch hunter. He is possibly the same Inquisitor as the one in the mask (who snickers arousedly at executing friendlies and wonders were the mask came from).
*Inquisitor Javerticus: An Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor and the most dedicated and charismatic of them all, and also an awesome singer and swordsman. Sadly, the Grey Knights don't seem to comprehend his awesomely dramatic greatness. Named after the obsessive Inspector Javert.
*The Gods of Chaos: The gods here are less chaotic than their canon counterparts. More-or-less they just sit around and talk to each other, the way they did prior to the Emperor showing up and making plans to wreck their collective shit.
**Tzeentch is a petty schoolyard bully/prankster who also likes to engage in pointless overthought pseudo-philosophy as part of his trolling. It turns out that he also plays Interdimensional Hyper Vostroyan Strip Poker with a deck made ENTIRELY FROM BANNED CARDS, relying mostly on spells and traps with only one monster. So far is the prominently featured of the Chaos Gods.
**Slaanesh is a hyperactive masochistic camwhore. Steals from Khorne and trolls with sexual innuendos.
**Khorne is the only half-way normal Chaos God (if that term could ever be applied to the Gods), who has yet to appear beyond screaming at Slaanesh for being a creepy whore. Has a fairly good relationship with Khaine, though, and they work out together at the gym. Never skips leg day, unlike the Emperor. Ironically despite being the most prominently featured Chaos God canon, makes easily the least appearances here, not even showing up on screen.
**Nurgle is the only one actually doing any scheming. Has a voice that's really hard to understand without subtitles, and is more focused on his waifu Isha than actually doing anything. When he's upset, he known to release extremely potent Crotch Rot on Hive-Worlds, which is as nasty as it sounds.
**Malal makes several short appearances, conversing with the various gods on Spacebook where he declares he will ruin everyone once he becomes canon again by escaping the "Retconnian" (a dimension where the Squats, Horus' soul, and other things that don't exist anymore are banished to) and a second time is shown to exist in a pocket outside canon where he is able to influence things that are canon in subtle ways using the "Tyrant Star", a wandering sun that gives off black light and incites anarchy and chaos on whatever planet it shines on. It appears that his obsession to become relevant again is a harmful one, as Horus and a Squat talk him down from his attempts and console him when he breaks down crying about his futile attempts.
**The Great Horned Rat appears as a joke to cancel Slaaneshmas forever due to Slaanesh getting demoted in Age of Sigmar and announces "Great Horned Rat Day" as its replacement. Enjoys mocking "nonexistant" lesser Chaos Gods and seems to be incapable of not breaking the fourth wall.
*Lucius the Eternal: Slaanesh's premier champion, who sounds like what would happen if Mickey Mouse turned to Slaanesh and became a drag queen in the process (his first appearance is a direct reference to this). First shown fucking up some Imperial Guardsmen (in all senses of the word) with his warband, laughing like a maniac all the while. He then got a call from Fulgrim, inviting him and his band to join one of Abaddon's "huge parties", which he accepted. His absolutely creepy portrayal in the series is quickly becoming one of the scariest (and most enjoyable) things in the franchise, sorta an impressive achievement. Runs a prank show in his spare time, and posts the results to Spacebook. Also planned the 'Slaaneshmas' holiday event which is broadcast to the whole universe to spread goodwill to humans and overall death to xeno species. Lucius makes a great holo vid host.
*Ahzek Ahriman: Most powerful sorcerer of the Thousand Sons. Appears in a short scene where he finally gets access to the Black Library, only to be dicked with, and eventually booted out by Cegorach. Decided to quit trying to get into the Black Library for a while and take a break, but decided against the latter after being summoned by Abaddon for the Black Crusade. Teamed up with Lucius for Slaaneshmas for the shits and giggles. So far appears to the only rational Chaos Space Marine, acting as a snarky straight man to the antics of the others. On a side-note, he smokes grimoires of Big Bad Jujus, which impresses Lucius. He apparently wants to murder the stars as he finds them too bright for his taste.
*Typhus: Chaos Lord of the Death Guard. Has the voice of Gilbert Gottfried, with a Strong resemblance to the voice of Real life Comedian Norm McDonald, or Gilbert Gottfried, which he uses to read erotic fanfiction for Lucius. Like the other chaos champions, he's been summoned by Abbadon for the Black Crusade. Later shows up to the Slaaneshmas Special to talk about his latest book, which is just his own shit smeared on every page.
*Khârn the Betrayer: Most infamous Khornate Berserker in the World Eaters. Has yet to appear directly in the show. Was mentioned to have been Voxed by Lucius to be invited the Slaaneshmas special but only received angry grunts in reply, leading Lucius to believe Angron picked up instead. Apparently, Lucius also mixed up his contact info with Sly Marbo at one point.
*Huron Blackheart: We cannot confirm his appearance in the series proper, but it appears that he is with Abaddon in the Season 3 intro, perhaps pointing to an alliance of sorts. Why in the all the names of Chaos he is there, only Alfa (or maybe his voice actor) know.
*Fabius Bile: Joins in on Lucius' and Ahriman's Slaaneshmas special to announce that he's starting a solo Black Crusade to show up that man-baby Abbadon. Is triggered very seriously if called Bob. He's clearly insane, insisting that a solo Black Crusade means doing things on his own, which even Lucius thought was crazy, not helped by Bile following up by boasting he can clone anyone. He showed off an abomination of a clone of Ahriman (which psychically self destructed) during the Slaaneshmas Special. Naturally, Ahriman was horrified and disgusted and even Lucius was disturbed.
*Miriael Sabathiel: The infamous Chaos Sororita shows up, only to get dismissed everywhere she goes and not be taken seriously. Upon learning it was Slaaneshmas, she dons a santa hat and joins the fun.Earlier, she was in a bad mood for being talked down by a captured Inquisitor (before she beheaded him in frustration), lamented the lost opportunity to torment him, and was enraged at some Noise Marines' amusement at her situation.
*The Tyranid Hivemind: Attempted to hijack the Chaos Gods' warpchat, but was kicked after too many synapses attempted connections. The Emperor claims that talking to the Tyranid Hivemind is like talking to a herd of hungry sheep.
*The Masque: First appears in BRO TRIP 40,000: A Tale of Two Primarchs while attacking Catachan, apparently because an ample muscle harvest (shaped into Slaanesh's symbol) would please Slaanesh enough to end her (yes, a canon her) eternal damnation to unending dancing. After Space Marines show up she flees, due to their artificial muscles being displeasing to Slaanesh and fighting them not being worth potential banishment back to the Warp.

Others
*Torquemada Coteaz: One of the Inquisitors who joined Fyodor's assault into the Imperial Palace. He shows up after Fyodor's forces was blocked off by a force of loyal Ecclesiarchy priests led by Decius in the palace, but breaches their defenses by throwing a barrel of Jokaero at the defenders. This plan causes Fyodor to lose any respect for him, which solicits a disheveled response from Torquemada, telling him to get off his Throne of Judgement and tell him to his face, or use his multi-melta to do what he's too pathetic to. Fyodor backs off and lets him leave. So far he appears to be the only sane Inquisitor, snarling at Fyodor to not execute the Emperor for whatever offense he may pull out of his ass. He's also busy with making a film, which is why he didn't stay to see Fyodor's plans go to the Warp.
*FUCKING HORUS: Appears in the April Fool's episode, where he breaks into the Emperor's throne room and incapacitates him. The Emperor declares Horus can't win because he's all alone, but says he isn't as he gathered allies while he was clawing his way out of The Warp, all of whom are some of the dead/retconned/obscure characters in the fluff, like; The Beast (An Ork who waged one of the most successful WAAAGH!s in human history), Goge Vandire (The man responsible for the worst chapter in Imperial History after the Horus Heresy), Sindri Myr, the Megarachnids (A footnote insectoid race in the fluff, who were hunted to extinction by the Astartes in the Great Crusade.), the Squats (We all know who they are), Hermann Von Strab (One of the most inept commanders the Imperium has ever seen, who met his end in the 3rd War of Armageddon.), the Old Ones, the Techno-Barbarians of olden Terra, 3ED Old One Eye and SLY MARBOOO *cue explosions*. He subsequently declares himself as the new Emperor. Later appeared for real in the second Q&A in the "Retconnian" with Malal and the Squats, and calms Malal's tantrum like a parent consoling a child.
*Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka: Currently beating up the Overfiend of Octarius, as in official lore. It's still unknown where Ghazzy's gonna fit into things, though it will likely be to assemble all Orks into a single Great WAAAGH!!

*Cypher: He has a very vague, mysterious plot involving the planet Orior and its STCs. This seems to take place not long after the Ophidium Gulf Crusade Incident, as the Dark Angels managed to locate him by tracking his ship. He also seems to be skilled at disguise, as he manages to just waltz right into the Thunderhawk behind Azrael without any further comment. He's on his way towards Mars with the Dark Angels.
*Cegorach: The Laughing God, shown guarding the Black Library. He encounters Ahriman trying to enter and forcefully boots him out after a bit of trolling. He has a French accent. He has his own spectral audience that laughs at his jokes, and even a voice that adds "[BAZINGA.]" to his punchlines.
*Isha: Despite being a kidnapping victim initially, Isha is now (due to Stockholme Syndrome) in a relationship with Nurgle. She hates Tzeentch and Slaanesh, mocking the former and encouraging Nurgle to plague the latter.
*Gork and Mork (or was it Mork and Gork?): Two dumbfucks who argue with each other in other people's conversations on Spacebook, with Gork not actually knowing he's using the Interwarp and trying to figure out how to use it while already on it.
*Khaine: Disappointed and annoyed by all the young Gods around him, sounds like an old man beat-down by life. He mostly hangs out in the warp chat and goes to the gym with Khorne.

*Felinids: The ultimate let-down.
*Necrons: They appear initially in a mini-episode by Karl. Necrons all speak with low-quality Text to Speech devices, except for the Lords who can afford higher quality devices. Shennanigans ensue when an unnamed Necron Lord discovers that his lowly minions can't pronounce certain things, so now all necrons make roflcopter sounds as their war cries. SOI SOI MOTHERFUCKER
*Ground Marines: Introduced as a short spoof episode after the release of Age of Sigmar, a group of Ultramarines determined to bring their superior selves to the service of "other Emperors" enter a portal and come out transformed as Stormcast Eternals, their appearance crushing a small group of Empire Flagellants. Text then appeared expressing condolences for Warhammer Fantasy fans. Although non-canon, it's a jab at Games Workshop's need to crowbar Space Marines everywhere (As the Stormcast Eternals largely resemble the Space Marines. Heck, their posterboy group even takes after The Greatest Of Them All with the blue, white, and gold color scheme).
*Eliphas The Inheritor: Makes a cameo in the second Q&A episode having sent a letter to the Emperor saying "Dear Corpse Emperor, Furk You." The episode then cuts to him laughing manically thinking he's so clever before the Emperor psychically punches him, promptly shutting him up.
*Little Billy: A running gag character in the series. His appearance is a psychic child who made himself a crude power-armor costume using cardboard boxes, with Alfabusa's grey and blue livery for colors. The gag about him is that Billy is constantly subjected to lethal/traumatizing events, yet still survives to appear again, leading to a joke that he is actually a perpetual. So far he's been: run over by a space marine attack bike, kidnapped and thrown into a Dark Eldar slave pit twice, and implied to have been molested by Lucius after contacting him using a psychic link and suddenly appearing before him, then hunted across the cosmos by Lucius during Slaaneshmas, and hammered in the face by a Deathwatch member before almost getting eaten by Tyranids in Behemoth. He's also apparently talked to the High Lords at least once, since the Grand Provost Marshal hallucinates him. To date the only good thing to happen to him is Sly Marbo rescuing him after some internal deb-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-ting.
*Hobo Guardsman: also known as "Hobo-chan." Like Billy, he exists to be traumatized by the grim darkness of the universe. First he becomes an unwilling recipient of Lucius' charity efforts, that being a sandwich made from "freshly milked daemonette milk", then later he gets harassed by the Adeptus Arbites for adding rat meat to his rations to make them more edible. Fed up with the bullshit, he decides to join Chaos, getting warped away before his planet is destroyed by Exterminatus. He was later seen smashed by Lucius during the Slaaneshmas Special. Last seen in the Eldar Webway.
*Inquisitor Headsmash: Hangs around on a ship in low orbit waiting for heresy to occur. Has a heavily reinforced Exterminatus button which he gets a LOT of use of it - as the name implies, he hits it repatedly using his head. Has the enviable talent of hearing heresy from orbit.
*Detective Bruce Norring: Appears in the Halloween specials. With most of the Inquisition missing, Bruce is put on the case of chasing down shady heretics on hive world Purgatory before unwittingly uncovering a Genestealer cult and nearly made into a genehost - only to get saved by a completely sloshed Inquisitor from the warp.
*Calato: A Deathwatch Champion from the Dark Angels. Originally from BEHEMOTH, Calato served under Inquisitor Kryptman, spending more time irritably fixing recaf rather than fighting xenos. Calato later shows up trapped in the warp with Karamazov and the rest of the Inquisition, where he had the balls to call Leman Russ a dogfucker to his face. Naturally, Russ was not amused. Later they made up over a pint of Fenrisian Ale, with Calato drunkenly embracing Russ as his "uncle... dog... my duncle!"
*Skarbrand: Appears in the Warp Hijinks special as a victim of a ding-dong-ditch prank by Leman Russ and Fyodor. Skarbrand refers to himself exclusively in the third person and, being a Bloodthirster, hates literally everything; he actually remains in the doorframe after answering, which he hates slightly less.
*Kairos Fateweaver: Appears in the same special, where he tries his usual "Knights and Knaves" shtick on Inquisitor Adrielle Quist, and gets fucked up for his troubles.
*Ahriman 2.0: Fabius Bile's horribly disfigured clone of Ahzek Ahriman which he unveiled in the Slaaneshmas special, much to Lucius and the original Ahriman's horror. Fabius claimed it was a "work-in-progress", something which caused the clone to become so enraged that it psychically self-destructed moments after.
*The Angry Marines: Might exist in the TTS-verse, but nobody knows for sure. "Angry Marines" was a popular answer in a poll on which loyalist chapter best embodies the concept of hatred, but nobody in the Imperial Palace knows who this might be referring to, and it was speculated that it may simply be a nickname. Either way, they were beaten by several other chapters, most notably the Black Templars and the Marines Malevolent.
*Hassan: First appeared in the Chaos Descends series attempting to sell camels to two of the main characters in the middle of nowhere, eventually convincing them to put up flyers for his business as a form of payment. He later appears in the main series, apparently having sold camels to the Ultramarines at some point.
*The citizens of Hive World Purgatory: Originally appearing in Alfa's Upper Hive games, hive world Purgatory appears a few times in the series proper. Its citizens are extremely idiotic and prone to murdering each other over the slightest suspicion. It's also been the victim of a recent Crotch Rot epidemic, and multiple Genestealer invasions.
*The Citizens Of The Imperium: In special episodes where the Emperor answers mail from citizens of the Imperium (most of which is questions asked by watchers of the series), Loyalist humanity plus an odd Xeno or Chaos entity ask questions of him. These are supposed to by sorted by Little Kitten and later Magnus as well, but quite a few stupid ones get through to the point that without the aid of the cuddly Centurion, the Emperor's frustration causes Warpstorms which obliterate chunks of the universe.
*Boy: A one-eyed young serf boy who operates the voxcaster during The Emperor's podcasts. He has another name, but because he was too slow in saying it; The Emperor decreed that his name is "Boy". Incredibly meek and timid due to serving Big E himself, so constantly has bouts of hyperventilation and anxiety. Apart from operating the voxcaster, his other role is representing the knowledge of the average Imperial citizen, which is unsurprisingly abysmal due to lack of education. Recently became more intelligent due to summarising the Black Templars in their interiety based on weak information and pointing out chapter flaws. Is friends with Billy. Additionally, he wishes to be an Astartes, and due to the fact that there's an Chapter of them who keeps their Star-Fortress Monastery parked in orbit most of the time, and due to the fact that said Chapter's Primarch is basically his adoptive father, it isn't that far fetched.
*Voldarius: An unfortunate Daemon Prince which got the attention of the Pillarstodes after reading about him in one of the books they got from the Black Library. They along with the Emperor and Rogal Dorn publicly mock him for being completely ineffective and incompetent to the point of having to rely on his subordinates to do everything for him.
*Uriah Olathaire: Yes, its the old man that the Emprah had a theological debate during The Last Church. His soul was summoned from The Warp by The Emperor, who was horrified that he turned into a Chaos worshiper. Ironically he is perfectly sane despite following Chaos. Unlike their first encounter, this time he actually IS a theologian and can shut down the Emperor's rather sophomoric arguments easily. He worships Chaos Undivided and paints them in a more neutral, legitimately non-malevolent light, highlighting how humanity needs Chaos to stay human and how Chaos needs humanity to continue to exist, making it a mutually-beneficial relationship. He originally wanted to justify the existence of Chaos, but due to the Emprah being a dick; he got fed up and instead started calling him on the hypocrisy of his Imperium and his ideals, such as his constant use of religious iconography and terms (despite wanting a secular empire), essentially doing the same thing old terran religions did to propagate their influence (although with a higher death count), among other things. He was eventually banished back into The Warp after dissing the holiness of the taco.
*Eldrad Ulthran: Eldar Farseer of Craftworld Ulthwé who is one of the biggest dicks in the Galaxy. Is preparing to do pretty much exactly what he ends up doing in Gathering Storm. Tried to convince Asdrubael Vect to distract the Imperium while he attempts to awaken Ynnead, but to no avail. Apparently he's already contacted Cypher at least once before and seeks to do the same with "the Machine-man from Mars" (Most likely Cawl).
*Asdrubael Vect: Dark Eldar leader who is another one of the biggest dicks in the Galaxy. Is completely disinterested if not mildly amused/irritated with Eldrad's plans and his insistence on dragging him in; believing both Eldrad's visions and Ynnead to be utter nonsense unworthy of his time after 10,000 years worth of pessimistic doomsaying. He appears to have plans of his own that seem to involve Leman Russ, Karamazov, and/or Kaldor Draigo, who emerge from the Gate of Khaine just as he finishes his conversation with Eldrad. Has a habit of setting up violent, hedonistic parties before gassing all the guests (including all rivals) after he leaves early.

The Order of The Primarchs' Returns
During the season 3 intro, the silhouettes the miniatures of all the primarchs seems to appear in the order they will first enter the show, as the order roughly corresponds with their actual in-series appearances so far, though this may just be the order of their apearances, not the order in which they return...

* Rogal Dorn - Around since the beginning of the series, although we don't find out it's Dorn until Episode 20.
* Magnus - Pops up in Episode 13 after being captured by the Ultrasmurfs.
* Vulkan - Returns after Cato Sicarius plants the remaining Lost Artifacts of Vulkan in Episode 20.
* Lemon Russ - Appears in the Warp in Episode 21, after Magnus banished the Inquisitors there in Episode 18.
* Corvus Corax Can be heard attempting to get out of a building on Nocturne at the End of Episode 21, and appears in person during Episode 25.
* Ferrus Manus- Appears as a 'brainghost' in Vulkan's head when Vulkan returns at the beginning of Episode 20. Vulkan claims in the bro trip spinoff that he isn't the real Ferrus.
* Lion El'Jonson - Not yet featured, but Rogal Dorn might know where he is. Then again, maybe not. This IS The Lion we're talking about, after all...
* Jaghatai Khan - Talked about extensively in Episode 24; The Ultramarines are on the rescue!
* Angron - Hasn't appeared in person, though Lucius mentions he and Kharn may be out on business.
* Perturabo - Hasn't appeared in person, but was prominently featured in a flashback in Episode 24.
* Lorgar
* Mortarion
* Fulgrim - Hasn't appeared in person, although he did contact Lucius the Eternal to inform him about Abbadon's 13th Black Crusade.
* Alpharius and/or Omegon
* Konrad Curze
* Roboute Guilliman - No appearances, although occasionally referred to in the form of The Emperor demanding his life support being cut off. Hilarious in hindsight, given the events of Gathering Storm.
* Sanguinius - No appearances, but he was spoken of at the end of the second Q&A, Episode 18.5
* Horus - No appearances in the main series, although he has been seen in the April Fools and the second Q&A.

Main Theme Lyrics
WE ARE THE GODS OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER.

WE ARE THE SOLDIERS, THE LEGION OF LIGHT.

WE ARE THE CENTER, THE DEATH OF THE SUN (SON).

FIRE AND FLAME.

WE ARE ONE.

(excerpt credit: Triarii - We Are One)

Trivia
* The Emperor's motivation for creating the Human Webway was obtaining Eldar prostitutes. The other benefits were an afterthought.
* The Emperor's nose is plagued by a phantom-itch (courtesy of Nurgle). Tzeentch believes the frustration will cause him to explode, destroying humanity and causing him to become a new Chaos God.
* The Emperor firmly believes in Taco Friday, whereas Dorn believes in Taco Tuesday. This disagreement causes a minor civil war.
* The Emperor did not create any Female Space Marines because "girls are yucky"
* The Emperor's left eye was accidentally poked out by Rogal Dorn's iron halo while attaching him to the Golden Throne. However in older depictions of the Emperor's duel with Horus, it was one of the wounds inflicted upon him (he also broke many bones, burned the Emperor's hair, poisoned him, ect).
* Some of the Emperor's previous personas included Moses and Chris-Chan.
* The Emperor's shattered psyche includes knowledge of the 4th wall. This is not always available.
* The Emperor approves of the Tau in theory, although in practice only those willing to engage in melee. So basically just the Farsight Enclaves.
* In fact, the Emperor is fine with tolerating any Xenos that aren't a threat to mankind. Absolute eradication is unnecessary if regulation suffices.
* Despite his intentions for the Imperial Truth involving suffocating the Chaos Gods, the Emperor's attempts at atheism were in fact making an actual god of disbelief... according to Magnus.
* The Emperor can shape the Astronomicon so that he can flip the bird to the rest of the galaxy.
* Has a known hobby: Plays a children's card game (Yu Gi Oh) with a clearly cheesy, overpowered and unfair deck...that, like most cheese, was destroyed as soon as it came across a hard counter. Apparently Emprah still hasn't learnt the lesson about why using OP stuff is a very bad idea.
* It later turns out that Tzeentch is the only person he can play with. Tzeentch's deck is similarly cheesy, but relies more on combos. Both of them also make heavy use of banned cards and have a rather... loose grasp on the actual rules.
* The Emperor has called for a second Council of Nikea. This one has nothing to do with Magnus; ironically, it's centered on the Space Corgis, and the fact that the friendly woodland critters of Fenris that the Wolves commune with are actually daemons. We've yet to see Magnus' and Leman Russ' reaction to the news, but it's guaranteed to be hilarious.
* He has also ordered Logan Grimnar to deliver presents to all the good little boys and girls in the Imperium on Sanguinala.
* While he has a number of colorful insults for his subordinates, including the primarchs, he also has pet names for his sons, such as "my little Magnymagic" or "RogalyDonDon."
* The First Founding was originally named the Only Founding, this was renamed after Guilliman's fuck up.
* The Emperor disapproves of the saying "Life is the Emperor's currency".
* The Emperor's flaming sword sounds like a squeaky toy hammer (at least when he bashed Tzeentch's faces in).
* He wonders if the Salamanders' pyromania had to do with his act of keeping their gene-seeds closer to the candle for warmth when he was creating them.
* Magnus identifies with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
* Ferrus Manus is not only dead, he is also a <strike>ghost</strike> skhost.
* There is a chance that the popularity of TTS has influenced Warhammer Gaming as a whole. Every big Warhammer game that has come out since TTS have had Cut scenes similar to that of the series.
* The Emperor believes gold is the greatest color of them all, and that all other colors are equally inferior

Warhammer 40,000 6th edition was released in June 2012. As with 4th and 5th Edition before it, it's essentially an extension of the 3rd Edition ruleset. However, it's even more like Warhammer Fantasy Battles than ever before...

And not even two years later (May 2014), Games Workshop released Warhammer 40,000 7th edition.

New Army Codex
As with any edition there have been new codex coming out of the works. It seems that Games Workshop is changing up the style again; all of the codices are hardcover, with the entire cover dominated by a full-color image. The "Warhammer 40,000" logo at the top is substantially smaller than it has been in editions past, and the title of the codex is much larger and at the bottom of the cover. Each Codex has an armory section and a warlord table too, and some have psychic powers tables. Surprisingly, none have been written by Matt Ward (although a lone Codex Supplement was, and another had him on it, if only in passing). codices are also getting supplements, a "new" addition to the game similar to the mini-codices from 3rd and 4th Editions. They build off of a parent codex with new rules, artifacts, and warlord tables.

The list is ordered oldest to newest, except for Supplements, which are listed in order from oldest to newest beneath their parent Codex.

*Chaos Space Marines by Phil Kelly. Introduces Heldrakes, Helbrutes (although they're just updated Chaos Dreadnoughts), Forgefiends, Maulerfiends, Warpsmiths (they're different from Iron Warriors Warsmiths), Dark Apostles (which are apparently just Chaos Chaplains now), and Warp Talons (oh, and Mutilators, but they're so shit nobody cares), as well as the Champions of Chaos special rule and table. It's generally considered terrible, with issues too common to mention. Examples include: the worst internal balancing this side of Robin Cruddace (everybody takes Heldrakes!); the worst external balance this side of Matt Ward (everybody takes Heldrakes to win tournaments by default!); the introduction of Mutilators, which are absolutely pointless; the introduction of Warp Talons, an awesome concept with terrible execution; the lack of any rules (or even much fluff) for the Traitor Legions; and the Champion of Chaos rule, thoughtlessly ported from Warriors of Chaos with no real regards to how it would operate in 40k. It's telling that Dark Apotheosis, in which your Champion becomes a Daemon Prince, is actually one of the worst things that could happen to him (unless it's just a random Aspiring Champion - and not your expensive HQ-Lord - which has happened to me and is amazing).
**Black Legion: The first Supplements started dropping and Chaos players everywhere were excited. Were their prayers to the Dark Powers being answered? Would Legion rules be coming or, better yet, an extensive suite of rules for a single Legion? Would Cult Terminators and Cult Dreadnoughts return? The answer to all these questions... was no. Instead, they released a fairly controversial supplement for the Black Legion, widely considered the blandest, least interesting, most generic Chaos force. And the rules? Well, you can take Chosen as Troops (which doesn't really make them any better), but everybody has to take Veterans of the Long War (meh), and there's a couple new Relics which are okay but not really worth giving up the MURDER SWORD or the Axe of Blind Fury. That being said, Abaddon actually comes across as a competent, intelligent Chaos Lord that knows exactly what he's doing, and all of the Black Crusades are fluffed out with fairly interesting goals. Still, it left most Chaos players asking whether it was really necessary to make a Supplement for the "cover Marines."
**Crimson Slaughter: After the disappointment of the first Supplement, rumors started leaking that the second Supplement would be about the Veterans of the Long War, giving detail on what all of the Legions were up to and providing Veteran Skills for units with the VotLW special rule. Not what Chaos players wanted, but it would still go a long way to making the book more customizable and interesting. So what did GW put out? A Supplement for the no-name warband from the Dark Vengeance box set. It actually sounds like it will turn out okay (making Possessed worth a damn for the first time, as well as a bunch of really neat Relics), but it was still a bitter pill for most veteran Chaos players to swallow. It appears this is an appeal to new players whose first army was the Dark Vengeance box set.
*Dark Angels by Jeremy Vetock. Brings back Asmodai the Interrogator-Chaplain. Introduces Deathwing Knights, Ravenwing Black Knights, Ravenwing Dark Talon, Ravenwing Dark Shroud, Land Speeder Vengeance, and Nephilim Jetfighter. It's generally considered well-balanced, even though some of the new units (specifically Asmodai and the Nephilim) are duds. However, it's also a little bland, with most of the "new" units are simply "super-duper awesome" versions of existing units.
*Chaos Daemons by Phil Kelly (and Robin Cruddace, although it's not clear where Kelly ends and Cruddace begins). Introduces Blood Throne of Khorne, Skull Cannon of Khorne, Burning Chariot, and Plague Drones of Nurgle (not to be confused with Forge World's Blight Drones). Heralds may take Psyker as an upgrade, except Khorne's ones. Including a Random Table known as Warp Storm, each result changes how the battlefield behaves, double 6's summon a randomized amount of basic daemon troops(Pink Horrors, Bloodletters, ect...). At the very least, it's better than the previous book.
*Tau by Jeremy Vetock. Introduces Darkstrider (also known as Pathfinder Sub-Commander Shigeru Miyamoto), Longstrike (also known as Shas'la T'au Sha'ng), Cadre Fireblade, the awesome Riptide battlesuit, Sunshark bomber, and Razorshark strike fighter. Brings in new abilities to Marker lights, including an ability to increase the effectiveness of overwatch. No Psyker table for Tau, instead their Ethereals now have the ability to pick army buffs.
**Tau: Farsight Enclaves by who the fuck knows (which means Matt Ward) explains everything about Farsight, what happens to him and why he broke away form the Empire. Crisis suits as troops, additional wargear and seven special characters (Okay, they're really the same price as normal models with there wargear and IC, but most of them can't be legally taken with the weapons configuration they have normally. Plus, they only take up one HQ slot for all of them!).
*Eldar by Phil Kelly and Adam Troke. Introduces the way too big, totally awesome Wraithknight, the Wraithblades, the Hemlock Wraithfighter (which is a bomber) and the Crimson Hunters, new Aspect Warriors who pilot fighters. Also every Elder Infantry aside from Wraithbone can now run and shoot in the same turn and gains Hatred: Slaanesh.
**Iyanden: The very first Supplement released, there was much angst because of its author: Matt Ward. It's heavily Wraith-focused: Wraithlords and Wraithknights can become Warlord (although they stay in the Heavy Support slot), five Spiritseers can be taken per HQ slot, the Runes of Battle discipline gets a new Primaris power that gives Battle Focus to Wraith units (run and shoot!), and some new Relics (which are meh, but that's not much worse than the Relics in the main book). Fluffwise, it ended up pretty good (surprisingly good, even, given Ward wrote it). Overall, decent if you like the Wraith units or Iyanden, unimportant otherwise.
*Space Marines: The last Codex with a listed author (in this case, Robin Cruddace), non-Ultramarines players had high hopes after the disaster that was Matt Ward's fifth edition, Ultramarine-worshipping Codex (this one is still guilty of Ultra-wank to a degree). The result? Actually, pretty good. The Codex had roughly equal "screen time" for each First Founding Chapter, as well as a paragraph or two of fluff for the major Successor Chapters. Most of the Chapters (with the exception of the Iron Hands, who got some shitty fluff changes) had pretty decent fluff. Each Chapter also gets its own Chapter Tactics (mostly consisting of two extra special rules), which vary widely in quality but are largely pretty good. The Black Templars got rolled up into the Codex, but they kept their Special Characters (including the Emperor's Champion) and the Crusader Squads. There's also grav-weapons (pretty cool), a few new anti-air tanks (the Hunter and the Stalker) based on the Rhino chassis, and a Space Marine inside of a Space Marine. So, all in all, a pretty good update.
**Space Marines: Sentinels of Terra, by Matt Ward. Surprisingly, the first Space Marines supplement to be released will focus on the Imperial Fists- specifically, their 3rd Company. If the preview is any indication, it will introduce a new SC (Sergeant Garadon) and fluffs out the circumstances leading to Darnath Lysander's demotion to Third Company Captain (being suicidally stubborn to the point where it all but wiped out the 3rd Company). Against all odds, there is no Ultramarine wank in sight (in fact there's a JAB!).
**Clan Raukaan: Yet another completely unexpected choice for Supplement, this one focuses on the Iron Hands clan famous for their role in the Purging of Contqual (that's Wrath of Iron). The special rules are barely worth mentioning (more Dreadnoughts, more Techmarines, a pretty decent Warlord trait table), except one of the relics, the Gorgon's Chain, which is like an even better version of the Armour Indomitable and Shield Eternal together. On the fluff front, it's considered pretty good by non-Iron Hands players, and absolutely terrible by most Iron Hands players (especially thanks to the continuation of the skubtastic fluff changes from the Codex).
*Sisters of Battle by Robin Cruddace. With the dubious honor of receiving the first digital Codex, the Sisters got the bare minimum of updates this time around. Mostly Tweaks to update the army to sixth Edition, this book should help bring some sisters players out of the woodwork. But probably not considering their models are more expensive than a non-illegal kidney transplant. New Warlord table and Acts of Faith have become one use only. 99% of the images are reused from previous material in other codex and roleplaying games. One image of the models, whereas other codex have at least one model of each
*Inquisition, by REDACTED. A surprise addition to the established Codices. Stated to be the first codex design to be use as allies rather than a full army, and it shows- it only consists of HQ and Elites choices, as well as some Dedicated Transports. Mostly its an update of what was in the Grey Knights Codex. However, they are unique in that they can be used as a second allied detachment (in addition to the "primary" allied detachment), and their units can be used as a Warlord instead of one from the Primary Detachment they're attached to.
*Tyranids, written by <s>"GW Design Studio" (so fuck knows)</s> White Dwarf ratted him out; it was Cruddace again. They get a couple new units this time around, some of which haven't been seen since Chapter Approved 2001- the Exocrine (an overgrown Biovore-like creature), the Haruspex (an assault specialist with a mouth that makes it look like it belongs in a hentai), and the Hive Crone (a new FMC armed with a flamer and Haywire Missiles). On the other hand, they lost virtually everything that made them usable- no Mycetic Spores(*cough* lost lawsuit backlash *cough*) means no deep-striking, and former standbys like the Doom of Malan'tai and the Parasite of Mortrex are gone as well. Virtually everything else which hasn't been cut has been left untouched or nerfed even more than they already have been. The fact that a good number Tyranid players can say that they liked the 5th edition Codex better says a lot about its quality. As of writing, the general opinion of this Codex is that while it's passable in a more casual setting, competitively it's a poor monobuild sack of crap.
*Legion of the Damned: As with all the recent releases, the author is unknown, although it might be Simon Grant (based on the interview in White Dwarf). This is the smallest Codex yet, with only one unit (one copied almost directly from Space Marines, no less). Still, it has a Warlord table (in case you wanted to take some Legion of the Damned units as a primary detachment, except you must take something else as well, as the Legion can't start on the table) and a single relic (the Animus Malorum, a soul-eating skull), as well as an Apocalypse formation (... which is just two or more Legion of the Damned squads) and a couple new battle types. More importantly, however, it lets you use the Legion with all Imperial armies (...and Eldar, for some reason) just like the Inquisition (that is, they don't take up the Ally slot, which is nice).
*Imperial Knight, written by GW's Crazy Design Team of Badassdom. New army, as before they only appeared in the specialist games. In essence, knights who pilot mini-titans, known as Imperial Knights, designed for one person to pilot. Each is a super heavy, and can be taken as either a primary detachment from 3-6 Knights or as a secondary from 1-3 Knights. There are only two types Knight Errant and Knight Paladin, they have no upgrades and are static points. All have D-Weapon close combat weapons. When taken as a Primary Detachment one is designated as a Warlord with a Warlord Table, all other Knights roll if they are either normal knights, squires, or veterans; giving penalty for squires, bonuses for vets, and nothing for normal. This looks like a push to merge Apocalypse and 40k proper.
*Astra Militarum, written by fuck knows (again, probably Cruddace). The IG now have a completely different name for some incomprehensible reason, possibly copyright related or for aethetics. Just like in 5th edition, virtually everything got buffed into the stratosphere. More Divination-capable psykers than any other army? Check. Hotshot lasguns now affected by FRFSRF? Check. Move a whole squad of Russes into the HQ slot? Check. An improved Ogryn variant that acts like walking cover? Got you covered. A new transport that comes with TL autocannons? Sure, why not?
**Militarum Tempestus, if you REALLY like Stormtroopers and want to field a whole detachment of them. That's it. It's another "made to be allies" codex. It doesn't even have relics. Despite this, it hasn't stopped some players from fielding them as a primary detachment.

Major Updates
With the new push for new specific units and special rules, here is a list for the returning player looking to gauge the game:
*Flyers - Every new Codex (except Sisters of Battle and Inquisition) has some form of flyer that feels overpowered (or as with Dark Angels, underpowered and worthless). Psychic shooting powers cannot hit flyers and a lot of abilities that can hit them are being errata'd to not be able to. So far the only thing that can hit flyers reliably are guns with Skyfire and other flyers.
*Monstrous Creatures - Since the inclusion of the Dreadknight for the Grey Knights, every Xenos army that hasn't had one has been given a Monstrous creature in 6th edition. Tau and Eldar have equivalents which, while badass, are a major point and money sink. The Eldar Wraithknight on release is over 70 quid/100 dollars/90 euros. Currently waiting for Ork Equivalent piloted by a Nob. While cool looking, most of the units are only good in Long Range or Melee against a single model. Swarming them can cause problems.
*No Author - In order to stop their writers from rage quitting, GW decided that instead of highlighting the writer for each codex that they will no longer have an author singled out. This can be seen as a good move and a bad. Good in that we no longer have a scapegoat to point at for ruining our favorite armies. Bad in that we no longer have a scapegoat to point to for ruining our favorite armies.
*Super Heavies - With the conception of Escalation and Codex: Imperial Knights, it is apparent that Super Heavies are slowly pollinating Warhammer 40k 6th edition. Rumors point to the next edition change to make the Escalation rules the Core rules. Whether this is a good or bad thing is up for debate as being able to field titans in 40k is awesome, but D-Weapons destroy everything. Shifting the focus from lets have our armies fight it out to have to kill the titan turn 1.
*Renaming: Both Sisters of Battle and Imperial Guard have had their names change to their High Gothic ones. While Adepta Sororitas does sound less silly, there is no word on why the Imperial Guard are now called Astra Militarum. Most think it's because after losing a few trademark law suits GW has decided to rename their more generic named factions so its easier to trademark (though they still have their "Space Marine" hard-on, when they could've changed them to "Adeptus Astartes" and TM'd that without incident).
*Allies Codex - Seen more prominently with the Imperial Knights and Legion of the Damned Codex, there have been a few "Codex" designed around having allies. Essentially they are very limited or can't be used without an allied detachment backing them up. Legion of the Damned for instance has to arrive from reserves, since all of their units have this rule you will lose turn one for not having a single squad on the table. The main issue is that these Codex are called Codex when really they should be something else like Allies Supplement, because they aren't built to be standalone armies.
Game Supplements
*Apocalypse - Updated to 6th edition inclusion new battle formations and a couple new Super Heavies.

*Escalation: Adds Super-Heavy Vehicles to normal 40k, as an unique "Lords of War" Force Organisation slot. No, it's not an expansion. It's part of regular 40k. Enjoy playing against an Eldar Renevant Titan with D-Weapons at 1000 points! Expect Tournaments to advertise that they exclude or include this.

*Stronghold Assault: Adds more Fortifications to the game. Still doesn't have any non-Imperial ones.

*Codex Supplements - Additions to existing codices that cost, as expected of GW, the same as regular codices. They won't add any new models to use, but they do give existing ones some extra rules or a couple neat Warlord Traits and relics. As per the new Allies Matrix, a supplement-using army can ally with its parent codex as Battle-Brothers.

*Warzone Supplements - Another attempt to pluck your wallet clean of bills, are warzone supplements. Think of campaigns with special rules. Current campaigns present are Death from the Skies, which has a three-way with White Scars, Orks, and Necrons (As well as some flyer-based missions), and Crusade of Fire, where the Imperium, a Chaos legion and some Dark Eldar got into a major scrape-up.
*Apocalypse Warzone Supplements - Yep, the Apocalypse book gets its own set of supplements, called Warzones. It kicked off with Warzone Damnos, a book of Ultramarine and Necron Apocalypse formations with some Inquisition in there somewhere; Warzone Pandorax, which is the same, but with Grey Knights, Dark Angels, Chaos Space Marines, and Catachan Jungle Fighters; Warzone Damocles, with White Scars and Raven Guard up against Tau; and Warzone Valedor with Eldar and Dark Eldar against 'Nids (GASP:A 40K supplement that doesn't involve Space Marines! It's about time a 40K faction got the limelight without having to share it with Space Marines).

*Mini Lore Books - Penny pinching books on the iBook store. Essentially bits of lore that you can probaly find either in a codex or on a wiki site in a little one to five dollar book. Mostly comprised of diagrams of specific equipment associated with the topic at hand (Typhus' Blight Grenades, Jump Packs, Dante's Power Axe, etc.)

*Digital Codex - Love Sisters of Battle? Love the Inquisition? Well now you can love them more with new digital Codex, that will never be available in physical forms. Equivalent of White Dwarf Codex without the issue of not being able to find them.

*Dataslates - To cash in even more on the e-book craze, GeeDubs has made Dataslates, e-books that allow for the use of special characters (Cypher, Be'lakor) or unique formations (Tyrannic War Veterans, An Eldar detachment full of Wraith units, A Tau formation with Broadsides and a Riptide on top, a series of Tyranid formations). Admittedly, the characters are rather nice, and the Formations are okay, though situational in use as they are non-FOC, but with hefty costs.

Crunch Updates
Anything we don't talk about, assume that it's the same as it was in 5th edition (for example, Cavalry/Beasts still have Fleet even though we don't outright say so in their section below).
Game
* You may pre-measure to move and shoot. (p 12)
*Snap Shots- Heavy weapons that are not blast or template may shoot after moving at BS 1. (p 12)
*Wound allocation - Wounds are allocated against the closest model to the attacking unit. (p 15)
**If there are 6 models that have the same save which would receive the first allocations, before a model with a different save, roll up to that many dice and remove the failures. Repeat until the buffer of same-saves is depleted, then change the save and roll individually. (p 16)
**If a target unit is in partial cover (some models take cover saves, some do not), you may declare focus fire. Declare you wish to focus fire before rolling to hit. Then declare a cover save amount (from 2+ to 6+, or no cover save at all). Wounds will only be allocated to models that have that cover save or worse. Go to ground does not alter which models may take wounds. You can not hurt any model whose cover save is better than the value you declared. (p 18-19)
**Template weapons ignore focus fire restrictions. (p 52)
**Wound groups — you may choose the order in which wound groups from different weapons are allocated. I.e. you may choose to allocate plasmagun wounds (S7 AP2 wounds from two different plasmaguns) first, then bolter wounds. With clever positioning this allows you to kill off specialists more easily.
**Line of Sight and Range Limits - If a model part of a unit is out of sight or out of range from those shooting wounds cannot be allocated to them.(Errata)
*Character models (Sergeants etc.) may use the "Look out, Sir!" rule when allocated a wound. A 4+ is a success — you may reallocate the wound to <s>any model (even not within range or LoS) within 6" of the character. (p 16)</s> the closest friendly model to your character (since latest FAQ)
**Independent Characters make "Look Out, Sir!" rolls on 2+. (p 39)
**"Look Out, Sir!" also works in assault. (p 26)
**You can only make "Look Out, Sir" roll BEFORE you roll to save. No, you cannot fail a save then attempt to Look Out. This has just been FAQ'd as true for anything even same armor saves. The reason is that if you roll everything at once (for equal saves) and fail enough saves to kill a character or IC, then you can allocate them using LOS! With the FAQ now you don't know if your character or IC will fail the roll or not so you have to take a risk. Either LOS! or save.
*If a model is 25% obscured from the point of view of one model in the firing unit, it receives a 5+ cover save. (p 18)
*Area terrain grants 5+ cover instead of 4+, but you receive +2 to cover save when you Go to Ground. (p 18)
*After declaring an assault, the unit being charged may take an "overwatch" shot at the charging unit. This shooting is a snap shot, and follows all rules for those. Overwatch may not cause pinning or morale checks. Blast and ordnance weapons may not participate, Flame templates get d3 auto hits. (p 21)
*Assault range is now 2d6, not 6 inches. (p 21)
*Models pile in before they attack (at their Initiative). <s>Note that currently Unwieldy weapons and charging through cover don't change your Initiative, so models suffering from these penalties pile in at their "normal" Initiative. This is likely to be FAQd, though.</s> Unwieldy weapons reduce the model to Initiative 1 (p 43), and charging through difficult terrain DOES reduce Initiative unless you have assault grenades. (p 61)
**Pile in moves are 3". (p 23)
*If a unit's weapons cannot damage the unit it is in combat with, it may choose to auto-fail its morale check at the end of the combat. (p 26)
*Multi-assault negates +1A charge bonus. (p 27)
*(this next sentence is gonna be really awkward) Having two different "special" melee weapons, as 5th edition called it, no longer takes away your +1 attacks for having two weapons. Note you still have to choose which weapon's profile to use in each fight sub-phase. (p 51) If you don't know what this means, don't worry; it never came up in 5th edition and 6th edition's rules already bypass it entirely.
*Can no longer take any saves against Perils of the Warp. (p 67)
**You CAN take Feel No Pain against Perils, though. (FAQ p 4)
*Deny The Witch: an enemy targeted by a psychic power can roll a d6. On a 6, the psychic power is canceled out completely. Psykers add +1 to their Deny The Witch rolls (or +2 if the target psyker is of higher Mastery Level than the attacking psyker). (p 68)
**Psychic Hoods now have a 6 inch range, and instead of rolling off and adding Ld, you just make a Deny The Witch roll. (p 68)
*Vehicles now use a Wounds system called Hull Points. Glancing hits do not roll on the vehicle damage chart; the vehicle simply loses a Hull Point. Penetrating hits both inflict a Hull Point's worth of damage and roll on the vehicle damage chart. Vehicles with no hull points left are wrecked. (p 72-4)
**Immobilized result from failing a Dangerous Terrain test does subtract a Hull Point.

Universal Special Rules (USR)
Rules in italic only require one model in a unit to work on the whole unit.
*Acute Senses - The unit may re-roll to see which table edge they enter from, should they be arriving from a random one (usually due to Outflanking attempts).
*Adamantium Will - The unit receives a +1 bonus to "Deny the Witch" rolls.
*And They Shall Know No Fear- Now a universal rule instead of exclusive to Space Marines. Automatically pass all regroup tests, can move-shoot-assault normally after regrouping, and grants immunity to the Fear rule below.
*Assault Vehicle - Units disembarking from transports with this USR may assault on the turn they do so, even if their disembarking was caused by the vehicles' destruction. All Open-topped transports are Assault Vehicles. Orks will be pleased.
*Armorbane - Models or melee weapons with this USR rolls 2d6 to pen vehicles. Straken should have this.
*Blast & Large Blast - These old standards work pretty much the same as 5e. It's noted however, that a Blast which scatters so that its central hole is off the table misses regardless of what's under the rest of it. Additionally, Blast weapons cannot fire Snap Shots (including Overwatch).
*Blind - Shooting USR, target takes an initiative test, if failed, WS & BS are set to 1 until the end of their next turn. Do note, that models without Initiative value (i.e. vehicles) fail this test automatically (unless they are immune to blind)
*Brotherhood of Psykers- Resolve Perils of the Warp against the character if he is alive/exists, or if not against a model in the unit if he is not. Use the character's LD if he is alive/exists, or the unit's if he is not.
*Bulky - Counts as 2 models in transports.
*Very Bulky - Counts as 3 models in transports.
*Extremely Bulky - Counts as 5 (0_0) models in transports.
*Concussive - Any model that's taken an unsaved wound from a Concussive weapon is reduced to Initiative 1 until the end of the next Assault phase.
*Counter-Attack - The unit may make a Leadership test whenever they're assaulted. Should they succeed then the unit receives a +1 Attack bonus as if they charged themselves. They don't receive any of the other bonuses for charging (Furious Charge etc.) and can't use this ability if they were already locked in combat.
*Crusader - Roll an extra d6 for run, and take the highest. Add d3 to sweeping advances total.
*Daemon - The scions of the Warp get a 5+ invuln and the new Fear rule. Pity about Eternal Warrior though.
*Eternal Warrior - Character with this rule is immune to the Instant Death rule.
**He still can't take Feel No Pain (see below) against anything that would normally cause Instant Death.
*Fear - In combat, before any blows are struck, the unit without this rule takes a leadership test. If it fails, it is reduced to WS 1 for the remainder of that assault phase. Fearless provides an immunity to this of course, as does And They Shall Know No Fear. It's worth noting that having the Fear USR does not make one Fearless by default however.
*Fearless - Still provides an immunity to Pinning and Morale tests along with the new Fear rule and automatic passing of Regroup tests. However, Fearless unit cannot Go to Ground or choose to fail a Morale with "Our Weapons Are Useless!" No Retreat wounds are no longer taking which makes facing down large Ork mobs even scarier than before.
*Feel No Pain - 5+ instead of 4+ (by default anyway, specific units may have different values). Only instant death ignores it (i.e. power weapons do not).
*Fleet - no longer allows you to run and assault, it now allows you to re-roll your rolls to run and charge.
*Fleshbane - always wounds on a 2+ against non-vehicles.
*Force weapon - Works the same way, but you expend one warp charge to use it. This means more potent psykers can use their force weapon and cast a power.
*Furious Charge - +1S on the charge.
*Gets Hot - Same as before, except it now effects weapons on Vehicles as well. Infantry take their armor/invul save as before, while Vehicles take a 4+ save against it or lose a Hull Point.
*Hammer of Wrath - Units with this USR get 1 auto hit when they charge into combat, at AP-, the model's unmodified S, and I10.
*Hatred[_______] - In the first round of combat against the named foe, re-roll to hit.
*Haywire - When shooting vehicles, Armor Penetration rolls are resolved differently: guaranteed Glancing hit on 2+, guaranteed Penetrating hit on a 6.
*Ignores cover - Self Explanatory.
*Instant Death - Unsaved wounds by this weapon caused instant death regardless of victim's Toughness.
*Interceptor - At the end of the enemy movement phase, this gun may be fired at any unit that arrived from reserve, and is within Line of Sight and range, instead of firing during the next turn of the player who owns it.
*It will not die - If the model has less that its full wounds or hull points, roll a d6. On a 5+ that model regains a wound or hull point.
*Jink - 5+ cover save if the unit moved, 4+ if it moved flat out or turbo-boosted.
*Missile-Lock - d6 scatter instead of 2d6.
*Monster Hunter - A unit containing one or more model with this USR rerolls failed to-wounds against Monstrous creatures and Flying Monstrous creatures.
*Move Through Cover - now ignores Dangerous Terrain.
*Night Vision - Ignores night fighting.
*Poisoned- Same as before, but with new additional benefits: now Poisoned CC weps must reroll failed To Wound rolls if the wielder has equal to or higher S than the target's T. Additionally, Poisoned guns default to 4+ when unspecified, and have a default S of 1.
*Power of the Machine Spirit- Now a universal rule instead of exclusive to Land Raiders; vehicles not moving flat out can fire 1 additional weapon, and it doesn't have to be at the same target as the other weapons.
*Preferred Enemy[_______] - When shooting or assaulting the named enemy, any To Hit and/or To Wound rolls of 1 can be rerolled.
*Rage - now a good thing for some reason. Gives +2A on the charge in Assault, and doesn't make you move towards the nearest enemy.
*Rampage - if a combat has more enemy than friendly models, the model(s) with rampage get +D3 attacks.
*Shred - Reroll failed To-Wound rolls.
*Shrouded - +2 to cover saves, counts as having 5+ cover save even when standing in the open.
*Skilled Rider - Automatically pass Dangerous terrain tests, +1 to Jink saves.
*Skyfire - Uses full BS against flyers but BS1 against non-flyers and non-skimmers. Interceptor rule negates this penalty.
*Slow and Purposeful - No longer counts as in difficult terrain. Identical to Relentless, but can't Run or Sweeping Advance. For vehicles, replace "can't run" with "can't Turbo or Flat Out". Also can't fire Overwatch.
*Smash - All close combat attacks are AP2 (except hammer of wrath) and can halve attacks to double strength and re-roll armour penetration rolls.
*Sniper - Now allows to allocate shots that scored a 6 on a To Hit roll.
*Split Fire - One model can shoot at a different target than the rest of the squad (if it passes a Leadership check first).
*Stealth - +1 to cover saves, cumulative with Shrouded.
*Strafing Run - +1 BS to hit non-flyers and skimmers with assault, heavy, rapid fire or salvo weapons. Shots count as pinning, too.
*Strikedown - Causes models hit by attacks with this rule to move as if in difficult terrain, and halves Initiative.
*Stubborn - Affects Pinning tests along with morale checks now.
*Supersonic - Vehicles with this rule must Flat Out at least 18 inches, and up to 36. Supersonic Flyers can't Hover.
*Swarms - Blast and Ordnance inflict two wounds instead of one. Swarms have Move Through Cover except they still test for Dangerous Terrain.
*Tank Hunters - Allows rerolls of failed penetration rolls, no longer a +1 pen. Also doesn't provide immunity to tank shocks.
*Torrent - Weapons with this place a template within 12".
*Twin-Linked - Now a special rule, provides the same effects.
*Two-Handed - Weapons with this special rule allow no extra attacks from using two CCW's.
*Unwieldy - Strikes at Initiative step 1, unless a walker or monstrous creature.
*Vector Dancer - Allows a 90 degree pivot at the end of the movement phase. Making the pivot disallows flat-out moves.
*Vector Strike - Flying monstrous creatures can make d3+1 ap3 hits on a model they passed over while swooping. Counts as shooting one weapon.
*Zealot - Give the Fearless and Hatred USR's.

Unit Types
Bikes
*Bikes/Jetbikes have Hammer of Wrath, Jink, and Relentless (see above). As of the FAQ they also have Very Bulky.
*The +1 to Toughness a bike gives now applies to Instant Death. In other words, Space Marine Bikers now only suffer Instant Death from Strength 10 weapons, not Strength 8 as before.
*Turbo-Boosting is now done in the Shooting phase. Bikes turbo-boost 12 inches (including the Movement phase, that totals 24 inches per turn) while Jetbikes turbo-boost 24 inches (total of 36 inches per turn). Eldar Jetbikes turbo-boost 36 inches (total of 48 inches per turn!!) Turbo-boosting does NOT give you the 3+ cover save anymore, but due to Jink gives you 4+ instead.
*Bikes/Jetbikes can't Go To Ground anymore, which also means they can't be Pinned.
*Any "can move 6 inches in the Assault Phase, even when not assaulting" rule is now 2D6 inches.
Artillery
*The Artillery Gun models themselves are now T7, W2 and have 3+ armor. All gunners also have T7 when shot at (but not when assaulted) as long as at least one gun is alive.
**During wound allocation, wounds are allocated to the closest model as if the gun models were regular infantry.
**"Look out, Sir!" must be resolved amongst the crew (unless you have a gun that somehow counts as a Character).
*Artillery guns cannot Snap Shot.
Jump Infantry
*Jump Infantry is now Bulky (see above).
*If a unit uses their Jump Packs to charge, they may re-roll their charge distance, and gain Hammer of Wrath (see above).
Jet Pack Infantry
*Jet Pack Infantry are now Bulky and Relentless.
*Any "can move 6 inches in the Assault Phase, even when not assaulting" rule is now 2D6 inches.
Monstrous Creatures
*Very streamlined. All MCs have Fear, Hammer of Wrath, Move Through Cover, Relentless, and Smash (see above).
*MCs no longer roll 2D6 for armor penetration in Melee (see Smash's rules for exactly what they can do).
Flying Monstrous Creatures
*This is a completely new unit type, and it takes up a whole damn page (p 49). No damn way I'm reprinting all of that shit here.
*If you want an easy visualization, Gliding FMCs are literally "Monstrous Creatures with Jump Packs". Swooping FMCs are more complicated, but for the most part are "Monstrous Creatures that move like Flyer vehicles".
Cavalry and Beasts
*They move 12 inches in the Movement phase now. Both ignore Difficult Terrain (including while charging), though Cavalry takes Dangerous Terrain tests and neither counts intrinsically as having Frag Grenades.
*Beasts have Move Through Cover, Cavalry have Hammer of Wrath (see above), both have Fleet.
Characters
*Characters have Precision Shots and Precision Strikes. All rolls To Hit of a 6, both Shooting and Assaults, are allocated by the Character's controlling player instead of "randomly, closest to furthest".
**Precision Shots/Strikes are still subject to any "Look Out, Sir!" rolls the target chooses to make.
**Snipers also score Precision Hits on a 6.
*Characters may issue Challenges to each other. This is complicated and takes up two whole pages (p 64-5), but it basically forces two Characters to only allocate wounds onto each other.

Weapons
*Models with two Pistols can fire both in each Shooting phase.
*Models with Rapid Fire weapons now fire one shot at max range or two shots at half range (15" for Pulse Rifles), regardless of whether or not they were stationary in the Movement phase.
*Grenades can now be thrown in the Shooting phase:
**Frag Grenades are 8" Assault1 S3 AP- Blast weapons.
**Plasma Grenades are 8" Assault1 S4 AP4 Blast weapons.
**Krak Grenades are 8" Assault1 S6 AP4 weapons.
**Haywire Grenades are 8" Assault1 S2 AP- Haywire (see above) weapons. They can also be clamped onto vehicles like Krak Grenades.
*In addition to their old effects, Defensive Grenades now grant Stealth against all shooting attacks. This only applies if the unit with Defensive Grenades hasn't Gone To Ground, and is within 8" of the unit shooting at them.
*During Assaults, Krak Grenades and Melta Bombs can now be clamped onto Monstrous Creatures as well as Vehicles.
**Krak Grenades are S6 AP4, while Melta Bombs are S8 AP1 with Armorbane and Unwieldy (see above).
*Generic "Power Weapons" no longer exist. Power Swords, Power Axes, Power Mauls, etc. have different statblocks.

Vehicles
*Defensive Weapons no longer exist.
*Vehicles moving at Combat Speed fire one weapon at full Ballistic Skill, and all others as Snap Shots. Vehicles moving at Cruising Speed fire all weapons as Snap Shots.
**Fast vehicles fire all weapons at full moving at combat speed BS and TWO (not one) at full BS moving at full cruising speed
*Vehicles that fire an Ordnance weapon can only make Snap Shots with all other weapons.
*New Vehicle Damage Table:
**1-2 = Crew Shaken, 3 = Crew Stunned, 4 = Weapon Destroyed, 5 = Immobilized, 6 = Explodes.
***If already Immobilized, 5 = Lose a Hull Point (on top of already losing one for a Penetrating Hit).
*During Assaults, non-Walker Vehicles that moved last turn are Weapon Skill 1. Otherwise, all non-Walker Vehicles are Weapon Skill 0.
**Immobilized counts as "didn't move last turn" even if it did, and is thus WS0.
**Flat outed vehicles count as WS2 (it matters only against Tau)
**You are not allowed to declare assaults on vehicles you cannot actually damage (yeah, they actually make a point of specifying this)
*All vehicles (except walkers and heavy) can flat out 6" instead of shooting
**Fast vehicles flat out 12"
**Fast skimmers flat out 18" (if even this not enough, buy star engines or œthersails)
*Vehicles in cover is now:
**Less that 25% hidden = no cover
**25% or more hidden = 4+ cover
**An entire facing is hidden from the shooter, who is shooting around the cover altogether at another facing = 3+ cover
*Vehicle squadrons:
**Immobilized vehicles are no longer auto-wrecked, but simply detach from the squadron.
**Stunned vehicles are still immobile for that turn, rather than counting as shaken.
*Transports:
**You may not disembark from vehicles moving at cruising speed, but the disembarking unit may move up to six inches after disembarking.
**You may NOT assault after disembarking unless you were disembarking from an Assault Vehicle.
**A vehicle may not declare Tank Shock or Ramming in the same turn a unit embarks on it.
*Flyers:
**I am not retyping all that shit here.
*Chariots:
**Oh fuck you.
*Open-topped vehicles automatically gain the Assault Vehicle rule.
*Heavy vehicles:
**Can never move faster than Combat Speed, which means no Flat Out.
**Always count as stationary in the shooting phase.
**FAQ sez: Skimmers that are also Heavy lose the Jink special rule
*Walkers are now forbidden from declaring Death Or Glory when rammed.

Terrain
*You may now take armor saves against Dangerous Terrain.
*Area terrain now automatically grants Infantry and Bikes/Cavalry 5+ cover saves, regardless of whether or not it actually obscures them.
*Going to ground in area terrain gives +2 to your cover save instead of +1.
*Getting a cover save from being "obscured" is now defined as being literally blocked from the shooter's perspective; instead of being "intentionally generous" you have to make a judgement call as to what constitutes 25% of the model.

Buildings
*As entering buildings follows the rules for entering vehicles, any changes there apply here.
*Buildings now have their own penetrating hit damage chart instead of the same one for vehicles.
**Scoring a glancing hit on a building instead causes a wound to one random model inside. This would has the Ignores Cover rule.

(This list is not yet complete)

Fluff Update/Business as Usual
General
Disclaimer: In no way has the Fluff deviated from the 5e, as of yet. Anything specific will most likely be changed in that faction's Codex (e.g. Heldrakes, Helbrutes...). This is just highlighting points of interest that may or may not have been in previous rulebooks.

Craptons of fluff. Explanation on daily life in the Imperium, how the Imperium is governed. The Imperium is even more almost-doomed than before. Timeline mentions vast swathes of the Imperium falling to rebellion, alien attack and Chaos rape. Lots of detail on stuff not usually mentioned. It appears that those that wrote about each army are fanboys of that given army. As such you will not find too much negative comments in a race's description. Pages 166-177 are mostly filled with old lore, nothing new at all in those pages. As such expect to see a lot of copy and pasting from previous codices, giving not even the Lexicanum anything interesting to write about in 6th edition that already hasn't been written about.
*The Golden Throne is failing and the Techpriests say it is impossible to repair. As usual. I wonder if they've tried kicking it.
*13th Black Crusade is still underway as it was apparently back in 3rd edition. Against all odds, Abaddon has managed to take half of Cadia and is continuing to gain ground.
**Possible Update - Abaddon has nearly captured Cadia and rumors have surfaced of the Daemon Primarchs leading the charge through the Eye of Terror. Though this could be a typo.(Codex: CSM)
**Possible Update - Dark Angels have decided to move their Fortress towards the Eye of Terror with every successor chapter of theirs headed in the same direction as one gigantic mega-fleet. Codex Astartes be damned.(Codex: Dark Angels)
**Possible Update - Creed's current tactic is keeping the chaos forces at bay until reinforcements come, in about a week, which includes every single Cadian Guard Regiment that's available.
**Possible Update - Abbadon's "keep throwing daemons at Cadia" strategy seems to be working, as the increased psychic energy is causing the pylons to resonate unusually; closer inspection by Techpriests reveals numerous cracks beginning to form.
*The Time of Ending - Basically boils the entire 40k universe into a retelling of the Rapture. Humanity is in decline, and every alien race is trying to kick their ass, yet all evidence points to them failing to do so.
*Ultramarines and Tau dislike each other.(pg 177) Two times it is pointed out that the Ultramarines regularly fight Tau, with one reference stating "After killing a bunch of Tau, the Ultramarines...".
*Squats and furries on page 405.

Space Marines
*Arguably more favoritism to Dark Angels as they are one of the factions in Dark Vengeance. Ultramarines are still used in crunch diagrams, but other than that the Dark Angels minis and illustrations are slightly more numerous than the other chapters (Dark Angels get almost no fluff, though).
*Six Marine Chapters are given little summaries. Ultramarines, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Blood Angels, Imperial Fists, and Grey Knights.(pg 187)
*Deathwatch still Ordo Xenos specialists.
*Grey Knights still Militant arm of the Ordo Malleus.
*Primarchs given a page dedicated to them. Not much detail, though it does say "One by One they Disappear..." (pg 186)
*Astral Knights kick some Necron Ass, destroying a Necron World Engine.
*Ultramarines have some connection with Necrons, many of their relics are made with living metal, may have fought them during the Heresy.
*Imperial Fists giving more background, like their successors chapter are a crusading chapter Sentinels of Terra also has their Chapter Master, Vladimir Pugh, killed while punching a Norn Queen, and then be replaced.
**Sentinels of Terra also gives more background for Darnath Lysander, as well as more information behind the circumstances of his captivity and introduces his archnemesis, Warsmith Shon'tu. Additionally, the Phalanx has been invaded by an Iron Warriors strike force seeking to hijack it. The Imperial Fists (with the aid of the Legion of the Damned) are putting up heavy resistance, but the battle could still go either way for them.
*Iron Hands given a Chapter President. They're all a bunch of tsunderes now as well.
*Luther is still alive thanks to a stasis field kept in his prison. Interrogator-Chaplains have tried to get information from him, but he's too batshit insane to be helpful most of the time.
*"Cypher" is in fact a title instead of an actual name, so it's possible there may be more than one of him. It's suggested that he's not actually aligned with anyone and may even be testing the Dark Angels' resolve on behalf of the Emperor.
*Lion El'Jonson has fully healed from his injuries and is waiting for the Emperor to send him the signal to wake him up.
*Legion of the Damned sort of refluffed-apparently the Fire Hawks origin is only one theory (albeit the one favored by the Space Marines). Others include the possibility that they're actual ghosts, the Imperial equivalent of Daemons, or time travellers from an alternate future sent back to alter history in Humanity's favor.

Astra Militarum
*Don't be fooled by the new name- it's still the Imperial Guard.
*Now it sucks more than ever to be in the IG. Apparently so many Catachans were thrown at the Tau during the Damocles Gulf crusade that they almost ran out of laser-bullets.

Sisters of Battle
*Actually presented as a competent military force. Otherwise nothing new.
*Given one page dedicated to them. (pg 185)
*Codex gives a page describing each of the most famous Orders.
*Section dedicated to their retrieval and protection of Artefacts, both real and fake. Implying that even when faith is misplaced in something it is still enough to piece the toughest armor.
*Sanctuary 101 is talked about. All Sisters are killed and even though no evidence is left, everyone figures out its the Necrons.

Orks
*Waaagh! Grax. Took over a bunch of Forge Worlds and moons. Also the Crimson Fists are now hurting because of it. (pg175)
*Waaagh! The Beast. Nearly took over the Galaxy... One sentence long description. And it can't be Thraka, "the Beast of Armageddon," since the description says this warboss is "known only as the Beast," which obviously isn't true in Ghazghkull's case.
*Octarius Empire and the Tyranids have had their stalemate broken by Eldar purging all planets in their general vicinity; Eldar are still preservers of the status quo, though less than before.

Eldar
* Necrons got their chocolate space ships inside the Eldar's peanut butter Webway, but the webway is still under Eldar control.(pg 205)
* Eldrad is no longer dead as 6th edition has been retconned back to the beginning of Abaddon's 13th Black Crusade. (Codex: Eldar 6th ed.)
* A New Challenger has appeared in the form of the "Crimson Hunters" Aspect Warriors/Pilots. Basically a cop-out to give Eldar another aspect while not really giving Eldar another aspect (they would have gotten fliers anyway). Like most fliers in 6th edition codices, their use is debatable. (Codex: Eldar 6th ed.)
* Small(ish) versions of Eldar titans are introduced as a model that is even larger than the Riptide. This "Wraithknight" is crewed by a living Eldar and the spirit stone of their deceased twin. Fluff implies that to make more of these extremely rare constructs, Eldar twins occasionally meet with "accidents" in which one of them will perish, making the pair a perfect candidate to fuel the needs of their desperate and dying race. Apparently they use Wraithknights collect Spirit Stones from Crone Worlds. (Codex: Eldar 6th ed.)
* The new codex features mountains of Saim-Hann miniatures, despite most of the forces not made up of a stereotypical Saim-Hann force (jetbikes). Iyanden seems to come in second in terms of painted minis, while most of the other Craftworlds are left a picture or two each. (Codex: Eldar 6th ed.)
* Expanded fluff for the minor Craftworlds (Altansar, Il-Kaithe, Lugganath, Iybraesil, Yme-Loc, and Mymeara) including what they specialise in and what their world-rune means. Otherwise, little new fluff other than a bit of expansion on what already existed and a couple battles thrown on the timeline. (Codex: Eldar 6th ed.)
* Iyanden is given more fluff other than "nom by nids" and retcons the reason they were nommed so badly to nids from inexperience to overconfidence. The Harlequins were apparently involved with Yriel's return and his taking up of the Spear of Twilight.
Dark Eldar
*Nice artwork, though that is not fluff.
*Black Library description is there.
*Imperium is racist enough to not be able to tell the difference between Eldar and Dark Eldar.
*Dark Eldar are Battle Brothers with the other Eldar, but are not good friends with anyone else, including the Grey Knights, even though *Dark Eldar don't use Psykers for fear of Chaos (Of course, the fact that the Dark Eldar are so selfish they'd rather perform atrocities like upholster their chairs with skin from flayed humans rather than deny their desires is why Slaanesh noms their souls in the first place).

Necrons
*Allies of Convenience with Grey Knights (Guess the Xenophobia towards "monkey upstarts" isn't quite so prominent).
*Tombs upon activation send signals, it doesn't appear to be to attract prey as Necrons are weakest in this state.

Tau
*Imperium still doesn't know why Tau are able to convert people so easily. The idea that a generic hippy/communist/socialist attitude is part of the reason is not brought up.
*Hive Fleet Gorgon heads towards Tau and the Imperium does nothing to warn them.
*Multiple implications that the "Greater Good" is a lie or at least heavily skewed in the Ethereals' favor.
*Ethereal's use of mind-control on the Tau outright stated and confirmed.
*A full backstory for Commander Farsight. He apparently fought Daemons on Arthas Moloch, and realized that the Ethereals had deliberately concealed the existence of Chaos. While he still believes in the Greater Good, he fears that revealing what he knows to the Empire as a whole will lead to a second Mon'tau. And yes, he's the same Farsight- while he doesn't realize it, the Dawn Blade extends his life for every living being he kills using it. Also some fluff on "The Eight"- Farsight's retinue and closest companions.

Tyranids
*Hive Mind believed to be a single host organism that the Tyranids originated from. (pg 215, The Hive Fleets)
*At least 9 Hive Fleets known about or worth mentioning.
*Doom of Malan'Tai is no longer a Zoanthrope, but instead some other soul-eating Tyranid. Overall a pretty flimsy excuse as to why he's no longer a model (*the real reason is due to GW's model-making dispute with Chapter House) .
*Parasite of Mortrex has vanished from the Tyranids Codex with no reason given in lore (see * above for the reason).

Chaos Daemons
*Still have the Big 4. (pg 222)
*Eye of Terror is still there.
*Any time a Chaos God has majority control those outside of the warp feel it. I.e. Khorne brings war, Nurgle brings disease, Slaanesh brings hedonism, and Tzeentch brings mutation and warp-related FUN <font size=5>*</font> (fluff changes?)(pg 221)

Chaos Space Marines
*From the BRB:
**Get a fluff piece detailing the traitor legions and the forces that took part in the 13th Black Crusade.
**Chaos renegades known as The Purge kill billions. Now for the weather.
*From the Codex:
**Helbrutes are the new Chaos Dreadnoughts. They're still basically mutated Loyalist Dreadnoughts where the confined Marine went a bit crazy, but they're significantly more mutated-looking now (although, if you want old-style Chaos Dreads, Forge World still sells the Legion-specific ones, and it's easy enough to mod Loyalist Dreads).
**Warpsmiths are basically just Chaos Techmarines that love merging daemons and machines; they're responsible for all of the Daemon Engines made by the Chaos Marines, although it seems that the Chaos Gods aren't particularly fond of them, since they kidnap so many daemons. It's not clear whether the Iron Warriors Warsmith still exists or not, but they serve a completely different role anyway.
**Dark Apostles are back, although now they're just super-charismatic Chaos Chaplains without as much emphasis on the Daemon summoning; it's not clear whether they're still Word Bearers-exclusive.
**The 'Fiends (Mauler and Forge varieties) are big, dinosaur-esque Daemon Engines. Maulerfiends are fast and melee-oriented, focusing on destroying vehicles and fortifications (and they're apparently sometimes called "stalker-tanks," which might be a retcon of the Stalk Tank of Blood Pact fame). Forgefiends are slower, but very, very shooty.
**Warp Talons are Raptors that went crazy in the Warp and act more like attack dogs than Space Marines; they literally cut into a battle from the Warp with their lightning claws.
**Speaking of which, Raptors are just Chaos Assault Marines now (and they have Heresy-era jump packs now). No Raptor God, no animalistic instincts... that's all Warp Talons now.
**Mutilators are melee Obliterators, although it's apparently more complex than that, because Mutilators are just Terminators that became obsessed with melee weapons to the point they merged with his body, whereas Obliterators have the Virus... or something. It's not really clear anymore.
**Heldrakes are a new type of Chaos flier. They were originally Space Marine fighter craft, but they became possessed by Daemons and turned into giant metal dragons (with the crew trapped inside for all eternity). They're surprisingly Awesome.
**Cultists are back in the book, although there's nothing really new about them.
*From the Black Legion Supplement:
**Abaddon's Black Crusades have not always targeted Cadia, nor have they all failed. (Codex Black Legion)
*From the Be'lakor Dataslate:
**Be'lakor has been introduced from the WHFB continuity. Still the first Daemon Prince, and obsessed with killing all other champions of Chaos to prove that he's the only true Chaos Champion.
*From the Crimson Slaughter Supplement:
**The Crimson Slaughter warband is introduced, and is apparently one of the most feared warbands around despite the fact that it has never even been mentioned in the fluff until now.
<font size=1>*The Chaos Gods do not guarantee fun. Fun subject to early termination at Tzeentch's discretion. Fun is to be taken in context of Dwarf Fortress.</font>

Allies Matrix
Conceptually, the Allies matrix is a nice addition. In practice, the Allies Table is an Emperor damned mess that shoots itself in the foot a bunch of times:
*Black Templars don't like the Battle Sisters much, even though there's a number of fluff examples of them fighting together and the Codex directly states that the Black Templars are adherents to the Imperial Cult. Even more egregiously, the merging of Black Templars into Space Marines gave GW a chance to fix it... and they didn't!
**On a related note, Black Templars have a better relationship to Tau and Eldar than Adepta Sororitas... even though they're zealots that hate all xenos.
**On another related note, the Black Templars' relation to the allies table is... odd. On the one hand, the Space Marines Codex directly states that Black Templars still use the Black Templars allies table... but then that doesn't appear in the newer mini-codices, implying that Black Templars should use Space Marines allies table.
*Imperial Guard are Allies of Convenience to Chaos Marines. This angers players that wanted Traitor Guard (who should be Battle Brothers) and players that think Imperial Guard is loyalists-only (who should be Come the Apocalypse).
*The Necrons are friendlier to the Grey Knights than the Blood Angels, despite the whole Rainbow Pony Princess Best Friends Forever controversy. But on that note, why are Necrons friendly with Grey Knights at all? How do they even know the Grey Knights exist?
*Tau are Battle Brothers with the Space Marines. Apparently a squad of the Emperor's finest will take orders from some no-name Cadre Fireblade.
*Eldar and Dark Eldar are Battle Brothers, even though they've usually been written as disliking or even hating each other (and, at the very least, they don't trust each other at all). This has been justified by a number of fluff additions where the two fight together (and it will probably be elaborated on in the next Dark Eldar Codex), but it was an odd sight to see when 6th first dropped.
*Tyranids have no allies. Yes, this makes sense, but it stings even more given their shitty Codex.

The mini-codices (Inquisition, Legion of the Damned, and Imperial Knights), meanwhile, just ignore this outright; they can all be taken in addition to an allied detachment

On the whole the allies chart is full of fluff violations, making the whole system a bit silly. Why GW did this is unknown but there are a few suspects (especially how the allies chart really favors Space Marines).

;Pros
Allowing for team ups is a great idea that many people have probably experimented with already. For example you can have Chaos Imperial Guard now, along with Blood Axes working together with the Imperial Guard. The Rule that even Battle Brothers can't use your transports helps stop other armies from using Drop Pods when they shouldn't. All in all will allow for a lot more different army combinations, such as having Orks act as muscle for the squishy Tau instead of Kroots.
;Cons
For the most part it seems that the Allies table is written from the viewpoint of one of the two races instead of both races together. As such you have alliances like Grey Knights and Necrons, because Necrons are not affected by Chaos. Even though Necrons hate every other race (actually, knowing the Grey Knights, this alliance still shouldn't work, but that's a discussion for another article). Also Tau are so peace, love, and friendship that they are best friends forever with everyone except Dark Eldar and Sisters of Battle. For some reason Tau are able to see past the cold inhuman exterior of Necrons and reveal that they are puppies needing a good hug, or GW is still trolling us with the suggestion that Farsight is under Necron influence. Tau would be allies with Tyranids if they could just get past the language barrier... and of course the constant eating of their diplomats.

Allies Matrix
*Space Marines - Battle Brothers with every Space Marine Chapter, including Tau and excluding Grey Knights. Rumors says its because Tau are the Emperor's artificial race, because they are not affected by Chaos, though whenever Tau is mentioned in passing Space Marines are killing them. Dislike Sisters of Battle for some odd reason, probably because <s>part of inquisition. they are Sons of Rawboat Girlyman Matt Ward</s> Sisters and Marines never liked each other, for Sisters its because Marines are transhuman (therefore going ageist the Imperuim's "purity of the human form" ideal), and Marines consider the Sisters' zealotry to be pointless for a man who proclaimed himself as NOT a god.
*Black Templars - Same as Space Marines, though they hate the Tau and for some reason hate Sisters of Battle, and will never work with Orks. They will work with the Eldar though (because the Black Templars are so renowned for working with Aliens and Psykers...How many roleplayers had to die to make this possible, we do not know). The new SM Codex that they've been merged into paints them as best buds with the Sisters of Battle, and they no longer show up in the allies matrix of the newer codices, so they're possibly the same as Space Marines' allies options now after the merge.
*Blood Angels - Same as Space Marines, though hate Tau and will never work with Eldar or Orks.
*Dark Angels - Same as Space Marines, though dislike Space Wolves and Tau.
*Space Wolves - Same as Space Marines, though dislike Dark Angels, Necrons and Tau.
*Chaos Daemons - Battle Brothers with Chaos Space Marines. Will never work with anyone else, except Imperial Guard. Sometimes they work with <s>Dark Eldar</s> (WHAAAAAAAT?!?) Orks or Tau but they hate them.
*Chaos Space Marines - Same as Chaos Daemons, though they are better allies with Tau, Orks, Necrons and Dark Eldar for <s>some</s> no discernible reason.
*Dark Eldar - Battle Brothers with Eldar, because as long as they are close to the same race everything is cool. Hate everyone, but especially Necrons, Blood Angels, and Dark Angels.
*Eldar - Generally dislike everyone, but will never ally with Necrons and all of Chaos. Also hate Orks and Sister of Battle. Battle brothers with Tau for some reason yet again.
*Inquisition - Battle Brothers with any and every Imperial force (Anything else would be outright retarded), Allies of Convenience with Eldar, Desperate Allies with DEldar and Tau (They like the manipulative pricks BETTER than space commies - kind of strange, but there are several instances in the fluff where the Inquisition and the Eldar worked extensively with one another). Everyone else can go suck Exterminatus (Which means no Freeboota Inquisitorial warbands for you!)
*Legion of the Damned - Battle Brothers with all Imperial Forces, Allies of Convenience with Eldar (I guess Idharae's not supposed to exist for some reason?), Desperate Allies for Tau and Dark Eldar. If this sounds fishy to you, then yes, GeeDubs was too lazy to make a new allies chart for the Legion and just copied from the Big I.
*Orks - Neutral to Imperial Guard, Necrons, Tau, and Chaos Marines. Hostile to Black Templars, Blood Angels, and Sisters of Battle. Desperate Allies with everyone else.
*Tau - Overall Neutral to everyone except Tyranids. They're even Battle Brothers with Space Marines and Eldar... this probably has more to do with the Tau themselves rather than the Marines/Eldar. I guess all that Greater Good idealism is contagious.
*Necrons - Before you ask, yes: Necrons and Blood Angels can be Desperate Allies. So can Necrons and Black Templars, so take it with a grain of salt. Otherwise Necrons pretty much dislike everyone except Orks and Grey Knights. Also, they're hostile to Chaos Daemons, but Neutral to Chaos Marines... yeah.
*Sisters of Battle - Battle Brothers with Imperial Guard, Hostile to Chaos and Orks, and different shades of Neutral with everyone else. They dislike the Black Templars and Tau, though.
*Grey Knights - Same as Space Marines, but with all Battle Brothers replaced with Allies of Convenience. Oh, they're also friendlier to the Necrons than the Blood Angels.
*Imperial Guard - The village bicycle (slut). Everybody gets to ride, except Tyranid cause six legged bugs can't ride bicycles. Battle Brothers with (almost) all other Imperium forces, neutral to everyone else. Yes, they're even Neutral to Chaos(actually makes some sense because it allows for Chaos Militia to be played with official rules, that of the Imperial Guard, alongside Chaos).

*Tyranids - ALLIES WITH NO ONE!! EVER!! OM NOM NOM!!! (Updated: Can ally with itself as per new Codex rule)

Current Rules Debates
*Character Squads - Because Characters are described on a page as sometimes being Sergeants of squads, there is beginning to form a group of people who believe that certain Squads made up of only Characters should not be considered such on the table. Examples:
**Ork Nobs, since the Nob statline is used for both the leaders of Ork Boy squads and for every Nob in a Nob squad. As such all Nobs are considered characters, even though characters are defined as either sergeants or independent characters.
**Space Wolves' Wolf Guard, since a Wolf Guard Pack Leader is considered a character by the FAQ, which some think mean that since its a character the others are not.
**RAW - Errata'd. At one point they were all considered characters as long as their statline said so. That meant that the Character Type was non-conditional, meaning that Character Type did not disappear if in.
**Resolved - Nobz, Wolf Guard etc who were considered characters are now listed as Infantry. Only the Sgt upgrade is considered a Character. Paladins are also no longer considered Characters. On a related note, Look Out Sir can only be given to the closest model to the Character, meaning no more distribution of wounds.
*LoS! and Perils of the Warp - The Use of Look Out Sir with Perils of the warp. In RAW LoS! is only mentioned as being possible for Assault and Shooting. But because there is nothing written in the Psyker section, some people believe it is possible, because its still a wound. Even though the book states only for shooting and assaulting.
**Resolved - Perils cannot be LoS!, but it can be saved using Feel No Pain instead.
*Mad Dok's Gift - Ork HQ Mad Dok Grotsnik is allowed to give Cybork bodyparts to any model in the army. Does that extend to Allies? Could Imperial Guard take Cybork bodyparts? There is no limitation of it for Orks only.
**Resolved - Allies of Convenience(Highest Allies Orks can have) cannot be targeted by Abilities of the primary army.
*Template Weapons and Swarms - When using an insta-kill template weapon on swarms does it cause double the number of insta-kills? If the weapon is AP as well do said swarms die horrible horrible deaths? eg. 4 scarabs hit with 8 insta-kill attacks?
**Resolved - It deals an Instant Death wound to each swarm wounded by the weapon, and then doubles them. 4 Scarab Swarms hit with a Flamestorm Cannon, if wounded 3 times, will lose 3 bases. Essentially, the wound-doubling is lost unless the Swarm in question has Eternal Warrior. <s>(Nurglings)</s> 6e codex.
*Tau Multitrackers - Can they be used for Overwatch?
**Resolved - Tau multitrackers can only be used in the shooting phase as per the new codex under multitrackers.
