The new girl on the skeletal block, Lady Olynder is the new Mortarch of Grief, and is the leader of the Nighthaunt Processions. Carrying all the despair in the realms due to her complete and utter apathy to the misery of others in life, she reeeeally hates the living.

History
In life, she was one of the most beautiful women in the empire Dolorum. But Olynder was also a Gold Digger's Gold Digger, scheming, sleeping and slaying her way to the top. Such was Olynder's charm that she married the son of Dolorum's King before both promptly "disappeared", leaving Olynder in charge. Olynder wore a veil and cried a lot about their loss in public Victoria-style, yet the veil hid her shit-eating grin over how smart she was. As a queen she ruled Dolorum for a few years, until the Age of Chaos came-a-knocking.

The forces of Nurgle quickly invaded Dolorum and Olynder cried more crocodile tears for the realm, as she really didn't care since she was all safe in her tower, partying away like the Masque of the Red Death. Olynder was so selfish that when the forces of Nurgle kicked down the doors to her throne, she tried to parley with them. This was when everyone's favorite Skele-Pope decided to intervene; Olynder had been pissing him off for a while, especially since Olynder had stopped the people of Dolorum from honoring him when she took the throne, and she was gonna pay for it. He seized her soul and doomed her to haunt the ruins of her Kingdom for all eternity, feeling all the misery in the Mortal Realms as revenge for the fake tears she cried in life (<s>one of the few times where </s> Just another example of how the victims of Nagash's special brand of karma indisputably deserved it).

Naggy then proceeded to forget about her, until the Necroquake unleashed the Nighthaunt on the realms. He realized how spooky they were, but they needed direction to be truly efficient. He then hosted a Death equivalent of Dragon's Den to decide on who would be the new Mortarch. Lo and behold, he stumbled upon the ruins of Dolorum, finding that Olynder had organized a hugeass Ghost-Kingdom while he wasn't looking. And so, she became the Mortarch of Grief, marshaling the ghosties into the processions we all know and love.

While she was a good general, Olynder had a knack for going LEEEEEEEEEEEROOOOY. During a battle to eradicate the Chaos forces occupying the Underworld of Lyria, this nearly got Olynder killed by a Bloodthrister until Nagash's other Mortarchs bailed her out. Nagash decided to give her an adviser and to that end she was married to Kurdoss Valentian, which Nagash also used as a joke at both of their expenses (for her, it's because marrying for power and murdering her husbands was how she earned her punishment). Since then Olynder has actually shown off some prowess in the siege of Lethis, where she managed to actually kill the Celestant-Prime, who until then had proven to be a deus ex machina in every situation, and free an ancient evil. What's more, this ancient evil that was locked away is revealed to be Katakros, future leader of the Ossiarch Bonereapers.
History
He was apart of the Khul tribe in Aqshy back in the Age of Myth, and he was called Athol Khul. This tribe did its usual Conan shtick until an unfortunate chain of events happened that caused him to pledge himself to Khorne. These events were caused by Khorne, who also subtly stoked the anger of Khul's tribe over time, showing that Khorne is capable of Tzeentch levels of planning, he just prefers honest bloodshed. It helped that the people of Aqshy were passionate and didn't shy away from a fight.

He then initiated a culling of his tribe, forging the strongest survivors into a Warband called the Goretide. At some point he found a Flesh Hound, called it Gristlemaw and made it his pet. From there, Khul promptly went on to skullfuck a vast amount of Aqshy. He even made a literal pyramid of skulls and was one skull away from becoming a Daemon Prince. It was during this time that Khul first encountered the Stormcast, and while they'd been smashing in Chaos face unchecked, Khul managed to deal them their first defeat, besting Vandus Hammerhand in a fight but failing to kill him. Later, when Khul was literally one skull away from daemonhood, the stormies came and spoiled his fun again, foiling his plans to ascend to a Daemon Prince.

2406:3400:20F:FFC0:A819:1DD5:7E5F:6B7C:

Wyches also known as Hekatarii are gladiatorial warriors of the Dark Eldar and where Lelith Hesperax comes from. They originate from the Wych cults and fight in arenas in duels with one another and with various captured aliens and beasts. Ruled over by their Succubi, Wyches are pumped full of Combat Drugs before sending them off in battle. In a sense, think of Wyches as the Dark Eldar equivalent of the Eldar Howling Banshees, but whereas the Banshees are your typical modestly dressed, grade A, model female college student who won't do anything degrading due to their chastity belts, the Wyches are stereotypical "sorostitute" who gives education and tradition the middle finger while trying to get as much sex and drugs as possible. Like every other Dark Eldar.

Wyches are led by a Hekatrix. These elite wyches, from time to time, form a clique of murderesses known as Bloodbrides. These Bloodbrides are under command of Syren who answers only to the high command of their Wych cult. Bloodbrides are known to have fierce rivalries between each other but in time of raids they unite their bloodthirsty powers on battlefield. As Bloodbrides are the elite among Wyches they are granted a greater number of special weapons than "normal" Wyches. The newest inductees of a Wych cult and the freshest babes on the battlefields are called Debutantes who are often eager to make their mark on looking as Hawt and deadly as possible. They are usually bound to an archon; and there have been instances of wyches becoming archons themselves (especially defeating female archons where it seems to have been the usual practice of that kabal, but keep in mind this is the general idea of career advancement in deldar society.)

Wyches are close combat specialists and often carry very little if nothing in the battlefield, relying on pure speed, agility and shall we say....distractions as much as possible. Seriously when we meant they wear g-strings, bikinis and high thong leotards in battle, we ain't joking. Other than Daemonettes, SistersBLAM and Howling Banshees the Wyches are one of the most fappable units in 40k due to their obscene and revealing outfits and the tendencies that most elegan/tg/entlmen often drool when fantasizing of near naked chicks running in the battlefield with their tits hanging out. <s>Seriously the outfits kind of work even in fluff despite the impracticality of leaving your bodies exposed.</s>BLAM Heresy! Don't be surprised where your entire Imperial Guard regiment have their jaws hitting the floor with their boners penetrating their Flak armor when these chicks go into war. Heck even your purity approved Eldar aren't invulnerable to naked Eldar chicks frolicking in the battlefield (Well the men at least) with your local Banshee and Farseer face palming either due to Fail or Jealousy.

Equipment
Wyches are typically armed with one close combat weapon and a short ranged weapon. Usually knives and short swords are standard issue but they could also come equipped with Razorflails, Shardnet, Impaler and Hydra Gauntlets.
Let her go alone, submitting herself to the will of the almighty God-Emperor of Mankind. Let her don the hood of the penitent and take up the the ceremonial eviscerator, and seek her redemption upon the field of battle.|Rule of Sororitas}}

The Adepta Sororitas are paragons of faith and purity; violent points of light in the grim darkness of the far future. It is their god-given duty to ensure that mankind does not stray from the light of the Emperor. But despite their rigorous training, some sisters encounter an obstacle that even they feel they are unable to overcome. Spurred on by their (often mistaken or inflated) sense of shame, these self-damned few, in their quest to attain absolution, place themselves in squads known as the Sisters Repentia so that they may atone for their sins.

Taking the Oath
Basically, Repentias are the 40k equivalent of Slayers.

When the weight of guilt or shame bears down too heavily on a member of the Adepta Sororitas they can present themselves to their Sister Superior and request to take the Oath of Penance which will set them down a path of no return.

They get formally removed from their sisters in a ceremony of mourning and are taken to the Inner Sanctum of their chapel, where they get stripped and shaved, and spend their time meditating and flagellating each other until it is time for battle where its members don mere scraps of leather and chain eviscerators to their hands and are then driven forward by their Mistress of Repentance so they can spend their lives in glorious battle.

Ordinarily a Sisters Repentia finds absolution in death; and then blindly charge the nearest enemy. As hilarious as it is to picture a bunch of semi-nude nuns bull rushing a carnifex or a baneblade through a hail of gunfire, it is, admittedly, a fucking badass way to die.

As punishingly gruelling as it sounds, the whole process is usually voluntary. The Adepta Sororitas is only made up of individuals who actually want to be there, and those lacking in faith or fortitude are weeded out early in the selection process at the novice stage. Very occasionally is the oath imposed as a punishment for those who fall below the exacting standards of the sisterhood, but as mentioned; the Sisters really want to be there, so such punishments must certainly be uncommon.

Any member of the Adepta Sororitas can take the oath, not just the Sisters of Battle. So Sisters Hospitaler, Dialogus or Famulous can all take the mantle of the penitent. Even though they might not have the same level of military training, they all go about their business with the same level of gravity, though in all likelihood, a member of a non-combatant order will potentially have to travel to a different convent to take the oath, and that might be quite a journey in itself!

As much as it can be joked at how self-imagined their supposed crimes might be, the Sisters take matters of faith VERY seriously, and even a single moment of doubt can be enough to condemn an individual in her own mind. If the Sister in question then later confesses her transgression to her superiors, they will treat it with equal severity and agree whether or not the Oath of the Penitent is appropriate.

It is possible for a Sister to voluntarily take up the transgressions of someone else and atone for them with her own death. This is considered perfectly acceptable and the Sister Repentia is treated no differently than a Repentia who had committed the sin herself. (More rarely such a transgression cannot be paid with by a single death, so the Sister takes a different oath -see below).

Once inducted into the Repentia, it takes some exceptional and miraculous circumstances to come back out of them alive. If the assignment to the Repentia was a punishment rather than a voluntary act, the Mistress of Repentance may decide that the sin has been adequately atoned for and the Sister may return to her unit. Though in most cases, the Sister has already made up her mind that her sins necessitate her own death, therefore the longer she lives the more she is actually failing to keep to her oaths, and is therefore just accumulating more reasons to kill herself. Very rarely (as in, we know of one case -Saint Celestine) a Repentia can have a divine epiphany and ascend to a Living Saint. Presumably at which point her oath is fulfilled, because she now has a higher purpose.

And, if you're into more unique diversions, it can be a feast for the eyes, too... or they used to be, if the new models for 8th Edition are any indicator (why not just slap burqas on them too while we're at it?).

Tabletop
For 85 points, you get a Sister of Battle dominatrix armed with whips, and four naked humans each armed with an Eviscerator, with the option to add more naked chicks to the harem of the Mistress for a measly 14 points each.

The fact that they are Sisters of Battle means they come with a 6++ invulnerable save, which makes their faith their primary measure of protection. They also get Fleet, Fearless, and Rage giving them four S6 AP2 attacks on the charge.

Finally, once per game they may get Feel No Pain (3+) for a turn if they pass a Leadership test (Ld 9 with the Mistress).

The Sisters Repentia occupy that somewhat grey area between awesome and useless: A full squad of them will happily tear apart any vehicle you point them at, throwing 2D6+6 on armour penetration rolls meaning even a few of them have a shot at taking down Land Raiders and Super-heavy Tanks.

Against bigger, more threatening targets like dreadnoughts or Imperial Knights, the fact that they have Invulnerable save means they could survive a hit from them, which is more than most units can say, short of Terminators.

The problem is that as a Dedicated close combat unit, they <u>SUCK ASS</U> in a genuine melee fight. Firstly: They have to charge to get the benefit of Rage but without decent armour they are likely to get cut down by overwatch fire. Secondly: without any guns of their own and because Repentia have to strike last with those Eviscerators. They cannot do anything to prevent enemy chargers reaching them and potentially wiping the squad before they have a chance to do anything. Even dumbass Tau or Necron players who think that Fightan' is better than Dakka, could charge basic troops at them and still kill the Repentia before they do anything.

Against more threatening melee units like Space Marines (or Monstrous Creatures) having a 3+ FnP is useless, even though it sounds good on paper. Because having Toughness 3 means their FnP gets negated by weapons of Strength 6 or higher, which are all over the place in the form of Fists, Mauls and Hammers, and many of the units with access to them have a better invulnerable save than the Sisters do anyway. So even their faith can't save them from being cut in half or squished to a pulp.

At 14 points for a Fearless Eviscerator with Rage there isn't much to complain about, you are getting what you pay for. They might have been better if they could be taken in squad sizes larger than nine + the Mistress, then you could afford to take the inevitable losses. Or some form of assault transport (without resorting to Allies) so they can be delivered to exactly where they needed to be.

8th Edition
And...then 8th edition dropped. Okay...no more rage. They get Shield of Faith, and Acts of Faith. They have a 3+ WS...except Eviscerators give 'em a -1 penalty. So, 4+. Two attacks, one wound, armor save is 7+. Their eviscerator, though? That makes it. Strength X2, for 6 total means they hit a Marines equivalent on 3+, AP-2 means they can negate a Nob's armor save. But leaves them less then that all-important x2 toughness, and just one short of equaling a Dreadnought's armor. All in all? They're cheap. And the new Detachments system means slots aren't as important.

Meanwhile? The Mistress of Repentia now takes up her OWN slot! Her Neural whips gain +1 to wound if she has higher leadership...but since she's 5+ on a Marine Equivalent? That just makes her decent. AP-2 means she almost nullifies weaker armor, and she has some grenades. Still...she can reroll failed Shield of Faith checks, which is awesome. But JUST her. And, ANY Soritas within six inches can reroll Advance, Charges, AND Hits...And she herself counts. Pity her problem isn't HITTING.

Sister Oblatia
A variant on the Penitent's oath; the Sister Oblatia seeks not to atone for her own misdeeds, but instead takes on the sins committed by another: Most commonly a blood relative or a respected colleague, but can also be a whole family line, a population center or an entire planet.

What makes them different from Sisters Repentia is that the accumulated sin needs a lot more work to atone for. So unlike with Sisters Repentia, merely dying in service isn't good enough. They must accumulate an equivalent level of redemptive deeds to wipe the slate clean. So while a glorious death is still the end goal, the Sister Oblatia needs to keep a conscious tally of what contributes to the overall redemption of their oath, so they will only throw their lives away if it is actually worth doing so. In many cases they will find that their task can never be completed given the magnitude of the original sin.

Because it's so uncommon and the magnitude of responsibility so great, Sisters who want to take the oath have to be vetted by their superiors to judge the validity and intention of the oath. Presumably to make certain that the Sister is not going to throw her life away in the first engagement and actually accomplish nothing, but also to ensure that the weight of sin is actually something worth atoning for and not just some imaginary or minor transgression (as with Repentia).

Sisters Oblatia swear similar oaths to Repentia, they undertake similar rites of self-mortification, fasting and meditation. When they take up the mantle of penitent they are viewed as dead and gone by their former companions. However given the uniqueness of their oath, they are NOT stripped, shaved, bundled into Repentia squads, and whipped into glorious battle. Instead they are left to their own devices to determine how to pay the debt they have taken responsibility for.

Some end up in service to the Inquisition, finding that the balance of repayments comes a lot quicker while hunting heretics, xenos or daemons directly. Though likely most just become wandering Sisters who attach themselves to warzones or crusades and help out where they can.

In both Warhammer Fantasy Battles and Warhammer 40,000, The Changeling is one of Tzeentch's servants and is a total dick. He's a special type of Horror that has the ability to disguise itself as anything, and uses that ability to wreak all manner of mischief. However, because it has shifted forms so many times, it has forgotten its original form. Only Tzeentch knows what the Changeling originally looks like, and commonly uses this as a bargaining tool to bind its loyalty to him, not to mention that Tzeentch himself is the only being the Changeling can't mimic the appearance of. It occasionally retains enough memory of it's appearance to show it's true face, although due to Tzeeentch's dickery, any being looking upon it will immediately forget it afterwards. Ahriman is one of the few living beings to have seen it and survived, although it's true appearance was enough to shock even a sorcerer.

One of the most famous hijinks involving the Changeling happened when it impersonated the Governor of the Hive World Raxos and threw it into total civil war, eventually conjuring a warp portal and having its other daemon buddies join in the fun. As usual, the Grey Knights were called in to contain the situation, which resulted in the total pacification of daemons in the uprising. However, the Grey Knights could not account for the Daemon that started the war and assumed that it escaped in one of the evacuation shuttles that were taking refugees off-planet. So in typical Inquisitorial fashion, the Grey Knights shot down all of the fleeing shuttles, killing thousands of civilians in an effort to kill off this single daemon that MIGHT have boarded one of the shuttles. Overall, whether the Changeling was there or not, Tzeentch was most likely pleased by the amount of "Just as Planned" it did to bloody an entire planet.

Another one of its famous pranks was when a renegade governor's fortress was under siege by the the Dark Angels, he summoned up a Keeper of Secrets for help by sacrificing his daughters in a ritual. You can probably see where this is going. When the governor asked for something "to end the siege", the "Keeper of Secrets" only gave him a mysterious device and fucked off (likely taking and consuming the sacrifices' souls). When he activated it: Surprise! The Deathwing popped in and gunned him down; it was really a homing beacon stolen off of a wrecked Ravenwing bike. The lesson is that you have to be really specific when you make a bargain with daemons, and that Tzeentch isn't above helping out the Imperium to troll his Chaos BFF Slaanesh.

The Changeling's dickery isn't limited to mortals either. In the new Daemons codex, he cut Slannesh's hair off and whoopy cushioned Khorne with Nurglings. Seriously! It also attempted to thwart Ahriman's plans of undoing the Rubric by impersonating huge numbers of people, coming dangerously close to succeeding before Tzeentch changed his mind because another hapless minion had done it for him. And in the new Curse of the Wulfen campaign book, it impersonated Sammael of the Dark Angels in order to trick the Dark Angels into bombing the Space Wolves' home world of Fenris (if this reminds you vaguely of Prospero, it should- that's exactly what Magnus the Red had in mind). Not only that, it released numerous Fallen from the Rock, setting their hunt back by several decades and only being prevented from freeing Luther by the intervention of the Watchers in the Dark.

In Fantasy, he isn't any less of a dick despite having considerably less fluff. In the Archaon books, he is one of the only ones with the balls to fuck with the Lord of The End Times himself. Archaon, in his pursuit for the artefacts of chaos is busy trawling around the southern wastes (even more savage and chaosish than the Northern ones) to track down Be'lakor. After finally reaching his obsidian fortress which is a total troll itself, Archaon climbs in to confront his father in shadow. Upon finding him and having a small 'duel' it turns out it was this blue dick the whole time. Archaon slaps him about for this shit though, but he still probably had a good time anyway.

In the End Times he attempts to fuck up the Empire even more than it already was. At the Auric Bastion, Balthasar Gelt is basically struggling to keep his shit together, seeing as he's turned to necromancy, albeit thanks the the persuasive skills of a resurrected Vlad von Carstein, and no one knows. But there's a demon running about killing all the priests who are ensuring that the wall of faith is standing against the Chaos forces. He and Ar-Ulric begin to investigate the occurrences and deduce a demonic shapeshifter is the culprit, especially when Ar-Ulric tells Balthazar it attacked him and he barely fended it off. They followed the trail until the Emperor himself appears, demanding an audience. Well, Gelt basically shits himself and is then told in no uncertain terms that Karl Franz demands no refusal. Thinking this a plot to assassinate the Emperor and that Valten could be the demon in disguise, Gelt rushes to it, trying to assuade the Emperor, who is having none of it as he goes to give Valten Ghal Maraz. Gelt freaks out, unleashes his new necromantic power and is cast out. All the while Valten, whom Gelt assumed as The Changeling, turned around and tackled Ar-Ulric as the latter rushed towards Karl Franz, revealing the real Changeling. The Changeling and Valten fight, with the Changeling briefly impersonating Valten so no one can tell them apart until Karl Franz's griffon Deathclaw sniffs out the real Changeling and swatted it aside long enough for Valten to regain Ghal-Maraz and finish it off.

[[File:Vilitch the Curseling.jpg|thumb|right|250px|The Curseling, whispering great things to his thrall's ear]]
Vilitch the Curseling, also called the Twisted Twin is a mutant Sorcerer of Tzeentch, fused to the body of his twin brother Thomin.

Warhammer Fantasy
Pre-End Times
Vilitch and Thomin were twins, whose births killed their mother. Where Thomin was healthy, strong, and good-looking, Vilitch was the opposite, being frail, weak, and ugly. Growing up, Vilitch was forced to do the chores of his dead mother and suffered beatings from Thomin. Thomin was their father's favorite, so he allowed Vilitch to be beaten, and the latter was also forbidden from using a sword. As they grew up, Thomin became a great warrior, while Vilitch was barely able to get by as the local shaman's apprentice and every night he prayed to Tzeentch to reverse the fates of him and his twin. And one night, as Morrslieb was close to the world, the god of change agreed to grant his request.

The next morning, Vilitch woke up to discover that he had melded with his twin, and that Thomin was now naught but an automaton under his command while he had all sorts of forbidden knowledge. With his enhanced intellect and sorcerous power, he strode out and destroyed his village and killed its inhabitants. From there he hunted down the best warriors of his village and enslaved their minds, making them his puppets.

He also showed up during the latest version of Archaon's quest for the Treasures of Chaos, with Archaon helping Vilitch against some Bretonnians in exchange for telling Archaon how to find the Crown of Domination. When the Bretonnians were defeated, Vititch double-crossed Archaon, hoping to loot the treasures Archaon had already gotten. When Archaon turned the tables and held his sword to the Twisted Twin's throats, Vitlich told him the first Daemon Prince Bea'lakor would show Archaon the way before Vilitch vanished in a cloud of magical smoke.

The End Times
Vilitch did little during the End Times, with Archaon sending him to kill Karl Franz and take Averheim, which he failed to do, and he killed Morbidex Twiceborn off screen after Morbidex tried to kill Vilitch for being a follower of Tzeentch (and some trolling from Vilitch here and there).

His fate following the world-ending was little better than some of his colleagues who got wiped from existence. In attempt to flee after failing to kill Karl Franz, Vilitch managed to enter the Realms of Chaos. While wandering through the Tzeentchian part, he encountered a being that may or may not have been Tzeentch that told him his prayer would be answered. When Vilitch denied making any prayer, he heard a voice saying that it had - Thomin's. Somehow, his brother Thomin had not only regained his intelligence but had made a prayer to be saved from being Vilitch's tool. Thomin gained control of their combined body while Vilitch's intelligence ebbed away until he was reduced to a tagalong stitched to his brother, his only purpose casting the magic Thomin now controlled.

Age of Sigmar
Vilitch lives on (or at least his model does) through a Tzeentch Arcanite unit named, appropriately, the Curseling. It's basically a normal Tzeentch cultist that learns too many secrets in his time, and grows a creepy chaos parasite called a Tretchlet on his back. The Tretchlet whispers secrets into the Curseling's ear, meaning that they make great interrogators.

Gameplay wise, he's an alright wizard assuming the enemy has no magic, but a great pick against magic heavy lists. His ability to "eat the secrets" of enemy mages means every time he unbounds a spell, he can automatically cast it.

Vilitch did little during the End Times, with Archaon sending him to kill Karl Franz and take Averheim, which he failed to do, and he killed Morbidex Twiceborn off screen.
