The Megarachnids are a xenos species discovered on the planet Murder (real subtle there GW) during the 31st Millenium. They are sapient, arthropod-like creatures who were stuck on their home planet after a war with the Interex, and were accidentally found by the Imperium at the final stages of the Great Crusade.

History
It is believed that, in the distant past, the Megarachnids had some sort of limited galactic empire, but after a war with the human Interex, they were beaten quite badly, and were forced to give up their means of space transport, as well as being contained on their home planet of Murder. The Interex, being basically 40k-Star Trek before Horus had his little tantrum, could have eradicated the species there and then, but they designed a series of measures to make sure Murder became a safe place for their defeated foe to live in, as well as to avoid them getting out. That way, if anything goes wrong and no one is left who can stop them, the freaks could wipe out all life. But hey, at least the Interex can feel good about themselves for not <s>saving everyone</s> murdering the poor harmless spider monsters. One of the measures was a series of warning signals surrounding the planet, which were promptly ignored by the Imperium of Man once they arrived there. After a six-months war, the Megarachnids were in some serious trouble, being borderline extinct and all, but the Interex managed to calm down the Astartes just enough to start diplomatic means to solve the problem. After this, the Horus Heresy happened, so we can safely assume they got exterminatus-ed during the crossfire.

Biology
Megarachnids have a disposition similar to... spiders. They have eight legs, four dedicated to locomotion, and four for attack and defense. Their claws were extremely hard, being covered in a strong metallic substance that could pierce the ceramite armour of the Space Marines. Their bodies were covered in this substance as well, which meant they were tough cookies to crumble, able to ignore several shots of bolter rounds (then use Kraken Shells, dumbasses). Megarachnids were blind, having no eyes at all, but they had their other senses heightened enough to be able to hunt with precision. Also, instead of shooting web, they shot cement. <strike> Maybe there's a possibility of being a tyranid offshoot? </strike> Not every bug in the galaxy has to be a Tyranid! When its biology is impossible then it is probably related to the Tyranids (Like squirting cement?).

Their behaviour was similar to eusocial insects, with different kinds of specialized breeds, although no queen was detected. There were, however, Megarachnids the size of titans, which also had a lot of importance on their hierarchy. Also, they had so many eggs at a time that Astartes just gave up trying to destroy them all.

Technology
Despite them being a species with very biological-based technology, they had some very interesting tools, such as trees (made of the stone they secreted) that could disrupt electromagnetic signals, or ways to control the weather at will, both used heavily during the Space Marine invasion.

2600:1006:B11E:4760:3DBF:ABC7:1090:7338: /* The basics */

The Kinebrach was a xenos species that populated multiple systems near the Interex empire on the Segmentum Pacificus during the times of the Great Crusade. They were basically intelligent gorillas IN SPACE.

The basics
The Kinerbrach was a species of humanoid aliens similar to the Earth gorillas. Before humanity started conquering the stars, the Kinebrach had a pretty considerable empire of their own, but by the time the Interex arrived there, their empire was on the way out. When confronted with the Interex humans, they decided to ally themselves with it and become a subservient species, rather than try to fight this rising power (like how the Dark Age humans got on with aliens until they betrayed us when we were weak). In exchange for peace and technology exchanges, the Kinebrach were forbidden to carry arms, save in times of war. When in war, they usually aided the Interex as shock troops, due to them being big space gorillas and all. This species, like the Interex themselves, went the way of the Dodo once they made contact with the Imperium of Man. By the end of the Horus Heresy, the species is considered extinct; that being said, enclaves might still exist.

Kinebranch technology and its possible Chaos ties
Most sources say the Kinebranch developed a very complex and advanced technology, further advanced by its combination with Interex tech. In particular, the Imperium were extremely wary of their weaponry due to the suspicions of them using Warp stuff (or even Chaos stuff) to make them deadlier. There were sayings that they were able to create poisons and weapons specifically made to kill a target by whispering them the name of their victim, which sounds like warp-fuckery. This is very interesting, since the Interex were very adamant in their fight against Chaos (or Kaos, as they called it), so why didn't they recognise these practices for what they were? The most important piece of tech the Kinebrach ever made was the Anathame (surprisingly similar to the big E's nickname "the Anathema" except the "e" and "a" were swapped), the warpsword that made possible Horus's corruption into Chaos. <s>That could be seen as a take that to the Imperium after they eradicate both the Interex and them, but considering the species's ties with warp stuff, it's probably they are being tortured in the Warp as we speak.</s> The blade existed before the Imperium showed up, so it is not a "take that" at the Imperium. Also, it is a Nurgle-aligned Chaos artifact, which could have only been made by either being aligned with Chaos or using Chaos. Which is the same thing since it is Chaos and so if you use it yet think you are in control of yourself, you are already lost.
Most amusing...|Master Vray, Fra'al Satrap (not realizing he's being cheated by humans, because none of that stuff matters to something as massive as the Imperium)}}
The Fra'al are an elusive and mysterious xenos species usually found on Segmentum Obscurus. Very little is known about them, though the Imperium of Man mostly knows them as both raiders and as merchants.

Contacts with the Imperium
It is widely believed between the Ordo Xenos that Humanity's first contact with the Fra'al goes back to the time of the Dark Age of Technology, though more details on that are beyond scarce. The first recorded contacts with the Imperium were during the Great Crusade. Apparently, the Astartes Legions fought many Fra'al outposts and spaceships. At the very least we know that the Salamanders, White Scars, Word Bearers, Death Guard, Night Lords and Alpha Legion fought them during the Imperium's expansion. We even know that the Fra'al were powerful enough to cause frequent casualties for the astartes, with many of those wounded being entombed in Dreadnoughts.

Post-Heresy, Mankind has rarely had contact with them, though they can be frequently be heard of as piratical raiders, attacking civilian vessels and lightly-protected military vessels for whatever resources they could find. They can also be found as merchants, doing business with Rogue Traders, selling their weird alien tech and whatever valuable resource they managed to steal on a previous raid. This trade is heavily watched over by the Inquisition as it's done inside the borders of the Imperium.

Society
The Fra'al are a nomadic species, though it's believed that they held a small empire within the Gothic Sector. While being both an empire and nomads at the same time might sound counterintuitive at first, and has caused a decent amount of skubbed debate, keep in mind that this has happened in real life. The best example of this is the Mongol Empire.

Other than that, not much is known of the Fra'al's society. We know that they are a psychic species and that their technology is highly advanced and they have a taste for messing with humans every chance they get, but to be fair, that's a hobby shared with every denizen of the galaxy, humans included. The lack of contact with the Imperium offers little chance of knowing them.

One would think that the Imperium would consider a psychic race like the Fra'al a prime target for extermination. This has not yet come to pass, probably due to the constant stream of even greater threats the Imperium is facing during the Time of Ending and subsequent Age of the Dark Imperium. There is also information suggesting the fra’al and ancient human federation along with a few other alien species teamed up against the Men of Iron. If the Imperium or at least its leadership and Inquisitors are aware of this, it could explain why the fra’al have been spared. The ones fought during the Great Crusade were probably pirates.

Technology
The Fra'al's technology is considerably advanced, and in many aspects it is superior to their Imperial equivalents, with the possible exception of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Their most important discovery is Ether technology, with which they constructed their feared Fra'al Battlecruisers. These monsters are rarely seen, but they are rightly feared by any other space faring species that has found them before. The Ether technology powers their Ether Cannons, weapons that throw beams of pure corrosion that cannot be blocked by neither void nor power shields. This basically means that the target's innards start corroding from the inside out, which can cause such funny things as breaking the Warp Engines and causing a small warp tear inside of the ship, or making the oxygen generators break, suffocating everyone inside. For the most part, though, this serves to burn down the ship's shields so as to attack them with barrages of lance fire afterwards. This technology is so good that Chaos is trying to replicate it, it is that effective. Suffice it to say, the Adeptus Mechanicus desperately want to get their hands on one of this ships, to try and study them, and go to great lengths to find and capture them if possible.

Outside of Ether technology, other pieces of Fra'al technology include Fra'al night shards, shards that are often used as divination foci by some imperial psykers, and Fra'al glass knives. The knives appear as jagged, dagger-like blades that appear to have been carved from a single piece of smoky crystal. Despite their primitive appearance, they are sharp enough to cut through ceramite, and they keep their sharpness by continually fracturing tiny shards from their cutting edge, with the shards often finding their way into the wounds the knife makes, turning cuts into agonizing injuries.

A large ape-shaped subterranean desert-dwelling beast that excavates tunnels with iron-hard claws and devours other cave-dwelling creatures with its expandable jaws. The Ambull is originally native to the death world of Luther McIntyre, but nowadays can be found across the Imperium thanks to well-meaning Magos Biologis of the Adeptus Mechanicus spreading the creatures around in attempts at domestication (apparently they taste delicious when properly cooked). Unfortunately, though not unsurprisingly, a dead'ard predator whose main shtick is tunneling proved almost impossible to contain or control, with the Ambulls almost always managing to escape into the wild and become an exceedingly dangerous pest on any world they end up infesting. Why nobody thought to simply lobotomize them like Grox is anyone's guess.

Exactly how tough Ambulls are has varied a bit over the course of their appearance history, however. Back when Ambulls were just a bit of old background fluff, Ciaphas Cain and a squad of Valhallans were able to wipe out almost an entire nest full of them with minimal casualties, and the one guardsmen who was injured by the Ambulls survived. The recent reintroduction of Ambulls to the setting has significantly beefed them up, with a single Ambull being the focus of a whole expansion to Blackstone Fortress, making it out to be a monster that would take a whole team to bring down. Its larvae, the Borewyrms, aren't quite as lethal on their own but can be just as dangerous in large numbers.

On Necromunda, they apparently like to make robotic versions of the Ambull called Ambots (or if you want to be technical, "Luther Pattern Excavation Automata"). The Ambull's brain is placed inside a mechanical body intended for mining purposes and then fitted with restraining mechanisms to keep its violent temper in check. Of course, the more creative thinking Hive Gangers found a new use for the hulking Ambot after figuring out how to remove its restraints; namely as a nigh unstoppable killing machine. Given its powerful tunnelling claws with built-in meltaguns, it's as much of a force to be reckoned with as its fleshy counterpart. For God’s sake AdMech! If normal humans can legally mass produce shit like this, where the fuck are our endless armies of killing machine-cyborg-things for the Imperial Guard? Imagine a hive dedicated to producing weaponized ambots...now put those bots against Tyranids and Orks and Chaos.

From the description of the Ambull's physical appearance, and their knack for tunneling, there's a certain resemblance to the Umber Hulk, a Dungeons & Dragons monster that predates the creation of 40k.

Tabletop
In 2019 the Ambull will finally be coming to the tabletop, in both regular and robotic varieties, via expansions to Blackstone Fortress and Necromunda respectively. And, just like Blackstone Fortress, there are 40k rules for the Ambull.

His statline's pretty monstrous with S/T6 and 7 wounds that regenerate each round with a 3+ save, while his claws are AP-3 Dd3, meaning this fucker can rip through marines like paper. While he has a rather decent M6, he can dig underground for a turn and then reappear wherever he wants the next movement phase. This isn't quite as scary as Genestealer Ambush, but there's nobody that'd want a giant killer bug near them. It also means that if it's in over its head it'll always have an escape plan.

Like Spindle Drones, Ambulls have the keyword Unaligned, so they can be used in any army, but only for matched or narrative play. They would serve well as a thematic hazard or an objective to kill. Maybe give it to a third player to control.

The Enslavers (also known as Psyrens, Krell, Dominators, Puppeteers and many other names by the denizens of the galaxy) are a strange "organism" that populates the Warp. We say that it's an organism, but really describing what these things actually are is an exercise in futility, considering their supposed origins and "biology". We can say, however, that they are some of the most dangerous things that can come out of the Warp, and considering the amount of horrifically dangerous shit populates that the Immaterium, that is quite an understatement.

"Origins"
Trying to explaing the origins of the enslavers forces us to go back to the days of the War in Heaven. During those times, the C'Tan and their necron slaves were beating the Old Ones and their allied races into submission, slowly but surely driving them into extinction. In their desperation, the Old Ones started creating more new races to try and stop them from going the way of the dodo, with little to no avail. This rapid creation of sentient species, alongside the tide of feelings of OCTILLIONS of beings embroiled in the war altered the properties of the Realm of Souls quite a bit, and it slowly but surely ended up altering its very nature, turning it into the hellish reality known as the Warp. It's at this point where the first enslavers start appearing, to the absolute horror of EVERYONE and EVERYTHING.

It is not known whether the enslavers were the first daemons, birthed from the emotions of all of this death and destruction, they were just organisms inhabiting the Warp and got attracted to the galaxy in a similar way the tyranids did (with a hunger for souls instead of flesh) or they were peaceful warp creatures horribly warped and deformed into the abominations they would become. In any case, they invaded the galaxy in millions, and basically singlehandedly stopped the conflict by murdering everyone involved.

These entities arrived just at the time where the Old Ones were barely avoiding extinction by the skin of their teeth against the C'Tan, who had been betrayed by the Necrons and started turning against each other. That small moment of respite turned out to be the calm before THE storm of the epoch, getting completely blindsided by this out of context problem. As such, the Old Ones and their slave species were utterly erased from existence, used as soul-fuel for the Enslavers. Combining the state of utter exhaustion with the quickness of the enslavers reproductive cycle, and most of the life in the galaxy was eradicated. The Necron and the C'Tan were more or less safe from these things, due to them not having souls anymore, but the C'Tan were getting shattered here and there and the necrons, seeing all of the clusterfuck the galaxy had become, decided to go "fuck it" and went to sleep for around 60 million years. The only known species that we 100% know that survived are the eldar and the orks: the eldar probably using the Webway as a refuge until the storm had passed, and the orks survived by... well, being orks, they probably managed to survived by putting spores in places not even the Enslavers could reach them. The Necrons also survived, but counting them as "species" is also a rather complicated debate, considering the necrontyr are definitively extinct, and in their place they left the automatas known as necrons. Anyways, once they managed to leave the galaxy clean of important life, they either went back to the Warp or they starved to death, leaving the way for the galaxy to recover from the cataclysm. With the millions of year passing, the memories of these creatures faded more and more, and by the time the Imperium of Man was created, those who still remembered them thought them to be truly gone...

However, this is 40k, and if something can ruin the galaxy, it will make its way to it. The enslavers have appeared from time to time to feed upon sentient species once again, although these ones are not nearly as powerful as those from the days of the Old Ones. Well, that or the sheer blind fanatical faith of the Imperium and its effect on the Warp makes them a relative non-issue. The Calixis Sector was victim to an enslaver infestation in 260.993.M41, however it was repelled by the forces of mankind. Nowadays, the Inquisition keeps an eye on these abominations, considering that a quick response is the key to keep them at bay.

It is also believed that Trazyn the Infinite has a carcass of an Enslaver in his collection. Considering how dangerous these beings are, as well as Trazyn's somewhat lacking security in regards to live specimens (remember when he tried to make a zoo of tyranids, only for them to escape and run amok in the planet?) it is good to know that the thing is actually a dessicated corpse... or at least, we believe it to be so...

Now, the first and most important thing to discuss regarding the enslavers' biology is to know whether they are daemons or not. Considering their nature, composition, behaviour, feeding habits and common habitats... We don't know. Really, if they are daemons, they share so many characteristics with regular organisms we could be forgiven to think of them as living beings, and viceversa. Both the Ordo Xenos and Ordo Malleus keep track of these things, just in case the other is wrong. At the very least we know they are older than Chaos, so they at least don't work alongside the Ruinous Powers (after all, if all the believers are eaten, there is no more <s>worship</s> emotion, so they would <s>go kaput</s> be weakened and only exist on aspects of reality such as change and decay...so really just Tzeench and Nurgle would survive). They may as well be the equivalent of tyranids for the Warp, a menace that came from outside the Immaterium (or at the very least a region of the Immaterium corresponding to another galaxy) to feed upon it, in which case, that's another apocalyptic threat the galaxy has to deal with. Great.

Physiology-wise they take a number of forms, but the most common aspect is something akin to a mix between a flea, a jellyfish and an octopus, all bloated into ridiculous proportions (they usually have more or less the size of a human, though). They move by floating in the air, probably using their psychic powers to levitate. They use their numerous tendrils to search for and feed upon the souls of the living, in particular psykers. Once found, they nail their tendrils inside of the victim's brain and start sucking out the poor sod's soul, while simultaneously turning it into a drooling slave, ready to fight for the Enslavers, defeating potential threats and searching for more prey. Once the victim is more or less done, they will put their eggs inside the target's brain, only for them to hatch a year or so later, making its head explode into more Enslavers. Sufice to say, if this process is not stopped immediately, an Enslaver infestation can destroy planets in a matter of decades, though they will try to be as stealthy as possible. And by the way, we don't even know whether they are a sapient species or not, so this behavior might be instinct or just a plan hatched with the borrowed intelligence of their host. Again, very little information for us to just corroborate anything major. If the Enslavers can't get any food, they will either return to the Warp or starve to death.

Presence in the Tabletop and Vidya
Enslavers come from the early days of Rogue Trader, although most of their fluff comes from later works. Tabletop-wise, they were given rules in the Chapter Approved Creature Feature, although no models were made for them. If there are any homebrew rules for this thing, someone add them here, please.

In Warhammer 40k Gladius, they appeared as a neutral faction that spawned randomly which they would attack players and computers alike. Living up to their names, they are capable of psychically enslaving units and turning them against their former allies (cept for the Necrons, for obvious reasons). Killing the enslavers will free the mind-controlled units from their power.
