Wolfweres are one of the sillier monsters in Dungeons & Dragons to have nonetheless persisted throughout the editions. As their name implies, they are "reverse werewolves", a therianthrope breed which in its native form is a wolf with regeneration and a human-like level of intelligence, and which can freely adopt human or half-human forms. They are particularly common in Ravenloft, as the Darklord of Kartakass is a wolfwere.

By contrast with their better-known counterparts, their weakness is to cold iron rather than silver and they do not form packs. They despise werewolves, and the feeling is mutual; they do get along with regular wolves and worgs, though.

The most dangerous part of facing a wolfwere is its song. Wolfweres have a talent for music and often disguise themselves as wandering minstrels or bards, and their songs have an innate ability to make anyone who hears them sluggish and lethargic. Thus slowed, they become easy prey for the wolfwere.
Jackalweres are one of the two most prominent examples of "antherion" (therianthropes with the base form of an intelligent animal) in Dungeons & Dragons, with the other being the wolfwere - in fact, the wolfwere has actually fallen away in popularity over the years, whilst the jackalwere has only grown increasingly prominent over the editions.

Jackalweres are evil-aligned and for some reason have the ability to put people to sleep with their gaze.

The origin of Jackalweres and what gods they are associated with changes depending on the edition. In 4th edition, Jackalweres were a tribe of jackal people who were given the ability to shapeshift by the Primal Spirit The Dark Sister to help them get revenge on humanity, and they are sometimes found in cults of Asmodeus and Zehir. In 5th edition, they were once ordinary Jackal that were changed by Graz'zt to act as minions for his Lamias.

The jackalwere's "lycanthrope" counterpart, the werejackal, is an obscure monster native to the Demiplane of Dread.
Werepanthers are a species of werecat native to Dungeons & Dragons. They are associated with both the Forgotten Realms and with Ravenloft.

Faerunian Werepanthers
In the Realms, werepanthers are rare and found mainly in tropical mountains. They are believed to have been created long ago by a powerful and malevolent shaman who used dark rituals to marry the power and senses of a wild beast to a human. Like most werecats, they have three forms; human, panther, and humanoid panther. Of the three forms, they favor the man-beast form the most, and are typically found in tribes of up to two dozen werepanthers, led by powerful Shamans or Witch Doctors. They are proud, arrogant and cruel, with a love for humanoid flesh and a fondness for keeping slaves, although individuals who impress a werepanther with their strength might be dragged back to the lair to be converted into a werepanther in turn. There are usually two or three slaves in a tribe for each individual werepanther, and they are kept in line with the aid of jet maces (sculpted to resemble a panther's paw, complete with claws) and barbed scourges that can be used to maim the disobedient.

Werepanthers are vulnerable to silver, and are bitter enemies of weretigers, werejaguars, and wemics.

The most famous werepanther in Realms-lore is Kelemvor... who, ironically, none of the above lore actually applies to! He was a man cursed to transform into an otherwise ordinary panther whenever he performed charity.

Ravenloftian Werepanthers
In the Domain of Dread, they are mostly associated with the domain of Valachan, whose Darklord is a panther-turned-human-turned-nosferatu. As a result, he can create both vampire and werepanther minions with his attacks, and has used this to create separate cadres of followers.

Publication History
Werepanthers debuted in the Monstrous Compendium Annual Volume Two splatbook for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition, presented here more as a "generic" therianthrope.

Other AD&D sources are the Shadowdale and Hall of Heroes splats for the Forgotten Realms and the adventure Felkovic's Cat in Dungeon Magazine #50 for Ravenloft.

Werepanthers were converted to Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition in the Ravenloft Gazetteer IV.
Werespiders, as the name suggests, are a species of therianthrope who can change from a human(oid) into a spider to varying degrees. Despite the long-standing presence of Lolth, they have never been a really big component of the game. They did appear in Dungeons & Dragons during the days of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, and in Pathfinder as one of the Entothrope species.

Aranea, as a race of sapient spiders that can shapeshift into humanoid form, could be considered as being to werespiders what wolfweres are to werewolves.

D&D
NotFunny Sourcebook
Lycanthropic spiders are extremely rare; the curse of lycanthropy spell only invokes mammalian forms, not insects or arachnids. Regardless of their their origin, there exist humans who can assume the alternate form of a huge spider, and also a monstrous hybrid shape mixing both human and arachnid attributes.

In human form, there is often little to physically differentiate a werespider from his or her fellows, although some possess long spindly fingers good for grasping and climbing. When completely transformed, the werespider’s body is suspended 6 feet above the ground by eight legs of sinister aspect. From 3 to 8 dull black eyes are clustered above a vicious mandibled maw designed for carnivorous eating. The bulk of its S-foot-diameter dark body is a bloated sack covered with a coarse black fur. The hybrid form of the werespider can vary from manifestation to manifestation. A very few look normal but can manifest some spider-like abilities, but most who take on the hybrid form of these creatures grow three or more spidery eyes on their human heads while their mouths become a drooling set of mandibular monstrosities.

Combat: The type of attacks employed by a werespider depends upon its particular manifestation. In human form these lycanthropes utilize standard weapons to inflict damage. Often, these weapons have been pretreated with the werespider’s own poison (either Type A or Type F).

In hybrid form, werespiders have a poisonous bite (Type A, save vs. poison or take 15 Doints of damaee within 15 minutes), can cling to walls and ceilkgs like a normal spider, and create webbing from spinneretes at a rate of 1 foot per round. Victims caught in the web require 1 round per point their strength is below 19 to break free (those with 19 Strength are unaffected). In hybrid form, the strength of the werespider is greatly enhanced, such that those fighting weaponlecs still inflict 1d4 hit points of damage from a blow or bite, and recieve a +2 bonus to hit and +4 damage bonus if using weapons.

When completely transformed into a spider, these creatures can move at a rate 18 on webs of their own manufacture. The webs a werespider spins in full spider form are stronger than the hybrid version; a successful bend bars/lift gates roll is required regardless of Strength to break free (monsters without Strength ratings use a saving throw vs paralysis if larger than man-sized, at -2, if man-sized or smaller). Their bites do 1d12 hit points of damage, and they secrete Type F poison (save vs. poison or die immediately). Those who are bitten and successfully save vs. poison from a werespider’s bite (whether hybrid or spider form) are at risk of being injected with lycanthropic eggs (see Ecology).

Werespiders can be harmed only by silver or +1 or better magical weapons. Any wound inflicted by another type of weapon knits as quickly as it is inflicted with briefly visible web-like sutures.

Habitat/Society: Werespiders tend to live as solitary hunters of either woodlands or urbanscapes. In woodlands, their homes are often suspended high up in the boles of a large tree, securely lashed in place with sturdy web-lines. The werespider nightly checks a series of traps (huge spider webs) it has set in strategic places within the forest. For the most part, only woodland animals are caught in these traps. The occasional human caught within the sticky strands is kept or released according the wiles of the particular werespider. In cities, solitary weresuiders hunt in the same fashion as their woodland counterparts , however, they specifically prey on humans. Thos who penetrate these creatures’ homes find bewebbed halls containing cocooned humans hung for “curing”.

Ecology: Those who survive a werespider’s poison stand a 30% chance to be injected with a very small egg from the werespider’s egg glands, which are located in its mouth. These eggs are undetectable without a specific probe of the injury. If allowed a two-week gestation period, the egg hatches, bursting within the flesh of the victim. This releases a viscous ichor that quickly permeates the victim’s blood: another werespider has just been born. Those so afflicted may not at first realize their condition, but stand a 1% cumulative chance per day thereafter to sponstanously transform. After this often traumatic experience, the werespider is able to control its transformation between human and spider form.

Pathfinder
NotFunny Sourcebook
In humanoid form, werespiders are squat, compact, and usually have short, dark brown or black hair. Their eyes tend to be large and dark, and their fingers almost constantly twitch. Their faces are often shiny with natural oils, and the chins of male werespiders are commonly covered in prickly black stubble.

Werespiders enjoy the company of kin, having large families and even larger networks of friends and acquaintances.

They like to pass information through these communities, creating a web of contacts that can sometimes stretch over several towns. Werespiders that like to sit at the centers of large organizations often employ non-entothrope informants and spies to be on the lookout for the information they desire, slipping feelers into all aspects of their communities.

Werespiders prefer not to fight by themselves. They are most comfortable when outnumbering their foes. When threatened, a lone werespider attempts to scuttle off to a safer location, usually one full of his allies. Such places are often filled with traps designed to immobilize or poison targets—sometimes both. When werespiders catch victims in these devices, they are quick to move the corpses out of the way and reset the traps, leaving the looting of the bodies for when they feel secure once again.
