Who is this guy, and why is he so important?
<span style='font-size:250%'>You... *BLAM!* You... *BLAM!* I have no words! No words!</span>
No, but seriously?
All right.

Long story short, Ernest Gary Gygax is the guy who started it all. Without him, there would be no /tg/ as we know it. He didn't exactly invent roleplaying games (and storytelling, boardgames and wargames are as old as mankind), but he's the guy who got the ball rolling in the late sixties with his pal Dave Arneson and made the concept popular, generating immense interest and inspired a truckload of other people to play and/or create their own systems/settings/what have you.

He's "the father of roleplaying games", the godfather of role-playing neckbeards around the world. No matter what particular flavour you pick, he's the guy behind it all. So, whenever you gather 'round the table (or sit behind your computer) to roll dice and have fun, spare a second in memory of Gary, the greatest neckbeard to ever have lived.
Obituary from the UK Times
What follows is Gary's actual obituary. It has only been edited for proofing and wikification. Notes for clarification or where the original writer fucked up will be in bold.

Gary Gygax
Affable avatar of the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game which became a worldwide cultural phenomenon

As the creator of Dungeons & Dragons, Gary Gygax was an idol to millions of geeks around the world. But he was also the visionary inventor of a new type of interactive hobby, the role-playing game, one that sparked a rekindling of interest in the fantasy genre and was a key inspiration for the billion-dollar computer game industry. As such, Gygax’s influence spread beyond the legions of pallid school misfits who knew his name, and came to permeate popular culture as a whole.

Ernest Gary Gygax was born in Chicago in 1938, and moved to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, aged 8, where he lived until his death. His father, a Swiss immigrant violinist in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, introduced him to fantasy novels at a young age.

Gygax dropped out of high school, although he took anthropology classes at the University of Chicago, and worked as an insurance underwriter in the 1960s. He became an avid fan of traditional board-based war games, particularly medieval battles. The first step towards Dungeons & Dragons came when Gygax introduced fantasy elements from the pulp authors he devoured.

“The guys were getting a little tired of military miniatures, so one day I put a troll under the bridge, had a giant dragon and all that kind of good stuff,” he said in 1987. “Well, they loved it. They absolutely went crazy for it.”

This evolved into Chainmail, a fantasy war game still played with miniature pieces. This was stripped down by Gygax’s fellow gamer, Dave Arneson, into a game where each player was represented by just one piece. The pair then codified this into an early version of Dungeons & Dragons.

The game did away with the board, relying only on graph paper, pencils, imagination and many-sided dice. Each player created an avatar from a class — warrior, wizard — and a race — dwarf, goblin, elf — and set off on a fantasy expedition guided by the Dungeon Master and his thick book of rules.

The goals included finding a hoard of treasure, or defeating an evil magus, and making sure to kill everything along the way. Games could last for several days, and there was no obvious way to win. It seemed an unlikely hit. “People said, ‘What kind of game is this?’ You don’t play against anybody. Nobody wins. It doesn’t end. This is craziness’, ” Gygax said in 1983.

Undeterred, in 1973 Gygax and Donald Kaye founded a company, Tactical Studies Rules, to develop the game. Dungeons & Dragons hit the shelves in early 1974. The game sold only 1,000 copies in its first year. (Note: While the obit implies that D&D sold poorly at first, TSR's first print run was only 1,000 copies so the game actually sold out. Most of these sales were made at Gen Con that year.)

Gradually though, as teenagers across American met for furtive games in their parents’ basements, D&D became an underground hit. A tournament version, Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, was introduced in 1978, and the game became a phenomenon on college campuses. Gygax began receiving late-night phone calls from players asking for clarification of the rules. Sales of the game reached $8.5 million in 1980 and $29 million by 1985.

Many adults, however, were suspicious of the new craze. Religious groups accused the game of spawning satanic cults. Newspapers linked it to a variety of teen murders and suicides. Although he later joked “that really pushed the sales up”, at the time Gygax received death threats and for a while had to employ bodyguards. He always insisted that the claims were absurd, and that D&D was good for imaginative development.

Although the furor passed, and a D&D spin-off cartoon became popular, the game itself seemed to have peaked. Gygax lost control of TSR in the mid-80s after a legal tussle. The company was sold in 1997 to Wizards of the Coast, which later became part of Hasbro. There followed a D&D film, with Jeremy Irons, and a computer game, both had poor reviews. (We have no idea what the hell this guy is talking about.)

Gygax moved on to other projects. He developed two more games, Dangerous Journeys and Lejendary Adventures, and wrote a series of fantasy novels. He also remained involved with Gen Con, the gaming convention he had started in 1968 and which last year attracted 26,000 devotees. In 2000 he appeared, alongside Al Gore, in a episode of Futurama. He worked consistently until health problems began two years ago, commenting in 2005: “What money I made I gave to charities and needy attorneys, the IRS and my ex-wife.”

Although D&D struggled as computer games chipped away at role-playing’s fanbase, it proved a huge influence on the emerging gaming industry, and generations of hugely popular games like Everquest, Halo and World of Warcraft owe a debt to Gygax’s original. Even though he never made one himself, Gygax was named 17th most influential person in computer game history by Gamespy.com. In their book of the rise of the computer game, Dungeons & Dreamers, John Borland and Brad King credit Gygax as an inspiration: “Scratch almost any game developer who worked from the late 1970s until today and you’re likely to find a vein of role-playing experience.” (What the blue fuck does Halo have to do with D&D?)

Gygax himself though, was no fan of online gaming, which he said destroyed the social bonding of D&D. “The game offers camaraderie, imagination, socialisation,” he said in 2005. “Computer games can be so isolating. They’re not anything like sitting in a group and laughing, telling stories. You can’t share a bag of Cheetos online.”

As the generation that grew up with D&D came of age, the fantasy aesthetic that Gygax popularised spread through film, television and graphics, with many of the writers of his youth enjoying a renaissance. His world of wizards, elfs and unending quest became part of popular culture, and contributed to the receptive climate for the Harry Potter novels and the Lord of the Rings films.

“The story of the hero being called forth, usually unwillingly, and adventuring and undergoing a change has been with us probably since stories were told round campfires,” he said in 2005. But although many detected the influence of Tolkien in D&D, Gygax told Gamespy.com that he was never a fan: “I yawned through the books. I found them very droll and very dull. I still don’t give hoot about Hobbits.”

He is survived by his wife, Gail, and six children.

Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons, was born on July 27, 1938. He died after a long illness on March 4, 2008, aged 69

Our view
Gary Gygax and David Arneson were the very first role playing neckbeards and it's quite likely that without them tabletop games would be limited to shitty board games like monopoly (which takes forever to play) and wargames, which are awesome but very expensive (you can get by on most role playing games with 50 or so bucks, good luck trying to get by in a wargame with less than $500.) When Gary Gygax died all of /tg/ wept, for the greatest of role playing neckbeards had passed. Even the war gamers cried a little, and we did, we did a lot.
*“Analysts warn of a free-fall in Mountain Dew futures.”
*“Pallbearers, make a Bend Bars/Lift Gates roll.”
*“In the next town, you meet a stranger named B. Barry Bygax.”

Gygax & Humanity
Something /tg/ doesn't talk about much is that Gygax was one of /tg/'s earliest believers in Humanity Fuck Yeah: he had a genuine concern that unless humans were the strongest race, both mechanically and flavorwise, then nobody would play them and instead everybody would go for the non-human races. There are contradictory stories as to whether or not he even liked the idea of non-humans being playable; one story says he basically had to be coaxed into allowing dwarves, elves and halflings into his game, whilst another story claims he invented the cleric class to deal with one asshole player whom he had allowed to play a vampire and who then went on to abuse his PC's racial powers.

Regardless, this concern about humanity's viability is seen in two distinct areas.

Firstly, this was the root of his idea that class option & level range should be directly tied to race; that's why, in AD&D, only humans can take every class and reach whatever level they want in any class they want. He even stated as much in some interviews in Dragon Magazine that this was his reasoning.

Secondly, this is why every "classic" D&D campaign setting has a human-dominated world. Whether you look at Greyhawk, the Forgotten Realms, Mystara, Birthright or Dragonlance, you've got a world where the known lands are divided into distinctive realms, and where those realms are largely dominated by humans. Whilst this can be arguably tied into their origins as a neo-Medieval wargame, the fact of the matter is that classic D&D settings always presume that humans run the world - this is why humans come in many different cultures, whilst non-humans tend to be more mono-cultural.

But, this trait has lessened as the years have gone by without Gygax at the helm. Eberron really shook things up, even going so far as to have Droaam, whilst "Worlds & Monsters", a designer's teaser book for Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition, outright features a segment on page 24 titles "The End of Human Dominion", emphasizing that the lack of "human nations" being the norm was intended to make the Nentir Vale world feel more fantastical. 5e brought the trait back into prominence by striving to push the Forgotten Realms as the default setting, but who can say how the future will turn out?
heresy

If you're looking for actual /tg/ races that are based on the principle of "humanoid animal", see Beastfolk.

A Furry (not to be confused with fury, which they tend to create) are people who are (often obsessive) fans of anthropomorphic animals. Some furries are merely keen on Disney, the Rats of NIMH, My Little Pony, or Usagi Yojimbo (these are the tolerable ones); at the other end of the spectrum lie the Otherkin, people who genuinely believe that they are animals or dragons trapped inside human bodies. Some furries make and wear fursuits in an attempt to resemble their avatars in real life, which tends to make the participants look ridiculous most of the time unless the costume is well made (which, credit where credit is due, happens extraordinarily often) or they're at a con full of them (and even then...).

The Furry community is based mostly in meritocratic elitism, with good drawfags in the upper levels of their social pyramid and the average Disney/Warner Brothers' animation fanboy in the lowest. Drama, misanthropy and other emo behaviors are very common in the hierarchy, often representing humankind as sociopathic or genocidal in their literary works or comics. Many furry comics have a homosexual or bisexual theme, not unlike anime (NOTE: this has nothing to do with statistics involving LGBTQ+ individuals in the furry community. This is merely a biproduct of the fact that many cancerous places that are host to furries are also accepting of gay communities). Many are avid supporters of the LGBTQ+ community, and they are always trying to become a part of it; for what it's worth, most of them don't care about furries, barring those involved in the fandom, but only consider them a problem when they go bashit fucking crazy. Furries get a lot of hate in a lot of places on the internet, which stems form several sources; a big one is the really insecure subtype of furry who posts their "fursona" on deviantart and proceeds to spew bile at anyone who doesn't kiss their ass about it.

Another big part of it is the type of furry most commonly referred to by /tg/ and 4chan, which is the erotic furry, also known as the furvert, which is a specific sexual fetish for anthropomorphic animals. Erotic furries are fond of cybersex, which they refer to as "yiffing", supposedly for the sound a fox makes while copulating. There are fewer erotic furries in the furry community than the average fa/tg/uy believes, but by the same token there are more of them than the average furry will admit to, depending on the furry in question. While sexual attraction to anthropomorphic animals *by itself* isn't too deviant or disturbing, the problem is that like many fetishes it has an odd tendency to occur in conjunction with other, more extreme ones (more on that in a bit). Because of these various factors, this type of furry is considered by 4chan, out of all possible factions, as the vilest and most nauseating form of heresy in all of existence, with only the ultimate Banhammer as the solution. Even to the point where *all* forms of furry porn are banned on /d/, a board that accepts porn of outright felonies like pedophilia, rape, and even full-on bestiality.

Antipathy toward furries on /tg/ and 4chan runs high principally due to a profound weariness with thin-skinned furries complaining of persecution. If you are a furry and feel the need to talk about it, the best way to survive on /tg/ is to admit from the outset that you are a sick bastard and that you don't expect anyone to praise you for it. (Addendum: Since 40k has very little to do with the fandom, it's generally safe to just not refer to yourself as one, lest ye call down the collective nerd rage of the fa/tg/uys on you, as shown in fig. a.) Furry threads make for very effective trolling experience, especially if erotic furry art is involved.

In a somewhat ironic twist, /tg/'s burning hatred for furries is what allowed /tg/ to come into being; Warhammer Wednesday was created as a direct response to furries attempting to spam /b/ every day of the week. The popularity of this day caught Moot's attention, leading to the creation of the /tg/ board.

Furries have their own RPGs, most notably Ironclaw, and its Asian themed companion book Jadeclaw, as well as Furry Pirates and Albedo.

/tg/, /v/, /x/ and other boards (not really /b/, because half of them are furfags anyways) have a profound hatred for all things furry and will rage, sage, kill, maim and ultimately burn the thread into the desolate wastelands of 404. (Any thread you may happen to see featuring monstergirls, centaurs, gnolls, or other sexualized sapient creatures is merely a figment of your imagination.)

Note: some furfags like to take it to the extreme and have recently tried to take /tg/ for themselves, only to have to resort to copious amounts of samefagging after the majority of fa/tg/uys got bored of saging their threads into oblivion. It is also theorized that furfags that invade /tg/ usually come from the bottomless pit of horror called tgchan.

Scalies are anthropomorphic creatures of the reptile and amphibian variety. As furries are nicknamed such for their humanoid shape covered in fur, scalies tend to have a coating of scales much like the animals they represent. However, some scalies, including draconids, have very light or no true scales, but flesh more like a human's.

Scalies are also furry fans with a preference for lizard, reptile, dragon and dinosaur characters and themes. It is also a self-moniker for the users of alt.fan.dragons, a Usenet discussion group for all things drakōn. They are not to be confused with dragonborn (because they don't ask to be fucked and raped constantly).

Yiffing
heresy

Yiffing refers to sex between furries, and is most commonly used outside the fandom in the form of "Yiff in Hell", indicating to publicly erotic furries that they or their sexual practices are not welcome in a given locale. As mentioned before, it frequently ventures into absolutely wild territory guaranteed to squick even the most hardened of internet users. For the most part, furries might have been tolerated had the fandom simply left it at "animal people fucking" and not become host to an array of utterly fucked up shit: watersports, adult babies, various forms of vore (most not even from natural orifices), actual bestiality, and scat is just scratching the surface.

Of course /tg/, being /tg/, knows everyone gets off to something that would be considered fucked up by at least a significant amount of people - after all, we have to let loose somehow and not all of us are the same. Plus, there's no fetish amongst furries that isn't already expressed in plenty amongst non-furries - 8chan has an entire fucking board dedicated to non-furry vore, for example, and that's not counting the fetishes ranging from bondage to guro in the 'non-furry' world since the fucking Romans. Furries are simply the poster child for people who take it to completely unfathomable heights, due to the frequent overlap between furries and other /d/-tier fetishes, such that one may feel an insatiable urge to drink bleach afterward. It's not uncommon to see even other furries giving the worst parts of their fandom a wide berth, although many onlookers would make no distinction in that regard anyway.

Some people like to joke that the influx of furries into hell drove the immortal Prince of Darkness into attempting suicide (and succeeding), and he was replaced with the Prince of Pleasure, because it turns out Chaos accepts pretty much anyone.

You might be considered a furry (by some) if...
As the only attribute consistently required to be considered a furry is an interest in anthropomorphic animals (def: having human characteristics, such as human speech, clothes, etc) you might be a furry if you identify with and/or a devoted fan of:

*Beastmen
*Skaven
*Lizardmen
*Minotaur
*Centaur
*Satyr
*Some subspecies of Demon

(Clarification: Just because you are interested in any of these does NOT force you to become a furry. It's a fandom like anime is. You can like something without associating with the ravening horde of crazy fanboys/girls.)

Things That are Not Furry
Distaste for furries often backfires on /tg/ when overly zealous anons cannot find any furries to abuse and turn their attention to people involved in innocuous practices. In particular, you should check yourself if you find you are calling someone a furry for any of the following:

*Playing Bunnies and Burrows (without masturbating).
*Discussing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness (without masturbating).
*Watching Disney movies and other movies with anthropomorphic characters (again, without masturbating). Disney movies may cause anthropomorphic animals to pique your interest, but does not, by default, MAKE you a furry.
*Monstergirls. Suggesting they count as furry to any stray weeaboo on /tg/ will result in them broiling over with rage.
*Playing gnolls, minotaurs, Orks, kobolds and in some extreme cases elves (without masturbating).
*Discussing something such as Ruby Quest (without masturbating), which primarily has given the characters animal features in order to easily differentiate between them within its simple style.
*Discussing Werewolves, playing Werewolf: The Apocalypse or Werewolf: The Forsaken (without masturbating) as, despite the frequent overlap, they are not furry by themselves.
*Playing Space Wolves (without masturbating).
*Playing Tyranids (without masturbating).
*Playing Beastfolk in general (without masturbating).

Dispute rages over what exactly constitutes furry. As a general guideline "If it has a snout, it's out" works well-enough; however (and especially on /tg/) fantasy races complicate that particular equation a bit. Gnolls, Minotaurs, Beastmen and their ilk are a well-established part of many a RPG/Wargame setting and have been there long before the furry craze. It's important to note the difference however: Beastmen, Wulfen and the like are clearly set out in the lore as monsters-they aren't sexualised and aren't really tolerated. There's no Beastman-Human relationships in Warhammer, because the lore is quite clear on them being hated and reviled, with every interaction starting and ending at the tip of a sword.

There are two major schools of thought on the subject. One holds that catgirls and other essentially near-hairless human characters with only one or two animal features (such as ears, minute resemblance of claws/fur on the body or a tail) are not furry, and the boundary of furry is only breached when you start sighting other obviously animal characteristics such as an altered skeletal structure, a face that resembles an actual animal and full-body-fur (this does not stop trolls from calling Horo furry, however). On the other hand, the second school of thought maintains that nobody fucking cares. There are hints of a still forming third school developing around the idea of exterminating all of them and let Gary Gygax sort it out.

Monstergirls vs. Furries
One will note that the above doesn't constitute a strong defense of Monstergirls as not being Furry (as, unlike the other non-furry fur-adjacent-fandoms mentioned above, the two do share a rather *ahem* one-handed approach to things). This is because, sadly, Monstergirls has some overlap with furrydom. There are a few distinctions that may be worth making between the two, though:

* Monstergirls are usually driven by a desire to make monsters more human, whereas Furries are frequently driven by wanting to make people (usually the furry fan in question) less human.
* Monstergirl settings usually make a point of having humans be present. Furry works are frequently describable as "ordinary (if perhaps porny) life, but everybody is an animal".
* Monstergirls are, well, monsters who happen to be conventionally attractive. Most Monstergirl works make a point of discussing and showing differences in thinking (whether cultural or biological) between the Monstergirls and normal humans. Again, Furry works are frequently describable as "ordinary (if perhaps porny) life, but everybody is an animal".
* Furry erotica has an especially bad habit of going into too many weird (and/or sickening) fetishes; Monstergirl-related porn tends to be more "mass market" in their erotic goals, with a good chunk of written fiction being completely romance-oriented.
* Monstergirl fans seem to be an ordinary (if also porn-heavy) fandom. Furrydom overlaps more with being a "lifestyle", with all the bullshit that the phrase "alternative lifestyles" usually involves.
* Perhaps most importantly, sanity. Erotic Furries are well-known for their blurring of fantasy and reality in their minds and fan-conventions; Monstergirl fans seem to be more clear on the distinction between the two.

A close reading of some furry webcomics crying about "fursecution" can be highly enlightening on several of these points, if you're of strong enough stomach to do so.

Whether these distinctions actually differentiate the two is up to the reader to decide.

Furries on /tg/
Besides the usual angst over furry porn getting spammed, if furries are brought up at all, this is mostly in the context of fantasy roleplaying games that feature anthropomorphic species like Gnolls and Kobolds, etc. As mentioned above, this is a gray area where playing one of these characters does not necessarily mean one is a furry; even so, accusations can still be made, since genuine furries can use playing a canon furry species as a smokescreen for creating their magical realm. The key is to figure out ahead of time whether the player in question cares about roleplaying an adventurer and not roleplaying a sexual fetish. Actually, that's a good general rule to go by, furry or not.

With regards to WH40k, there's less ambiguity. The Imperium's stance on non-humans is quite clear. Yes, Wulfen do technically straddle the line into anthro territory, but the fluff makes it clear that they're barely tolerated as it is, and the Inquisition is too busy dealing with daemonic shit to get into another fight with the Space Wolves. Yet despite all this, you do have the occasional furry try to slip something in that, by all rights, should ordinarily result in Exterminatus right from the get-go. Because of this, furries have been classified as Extra Heresy. See the Fur Heresy for one such example.

Flare
Originally introduced to /tg/ by some creepy furfag that would spam her picture in drawfag threads constantly, Flare was since kidnapped from her creator to receive an extreme makeover in the hands of /tg/: Her backstory is that, hated by absolutely everyone, she had to endure constant abuse and fighting ever since childhood, turning her into a sociopathic fuckup. Posting an image of old Flare with or without text used to be the easiest form of trolling on all of /tg/ (Not even 4e D&D could have elicited as much blind rage from the board) but the new Flare has since cut the worst edge out of it. More importantly, what /tg/ did to her is bugging the shit out of the original Flarefag, which is awesome.

There is no art of her anywhere except the original image and the ones that drawfags have made. Trolls sometimes refer to Flare as a mascot of /tg/, but this is so unthinkably wrong and horrifying that you are advised to stop thinking about the possibility before we make you.

Chakat
Like Flare, this is an imported concept that /tg/ rapidly grew to hate. The short story is that Chakats are a race of hermaphroditic furry centaurs who are super amazing at everything and everyone wants to fuck them, and engage in metric fucktons of sexual fetishes including incest. And if you're not sexually attracted to them, then you're a horrible person and they'll make you love them. In short, they're everything wrong with furries in one package. Originally a Star Trek fanfic race, they've since attempted to invade every other sci-fi franchise, despite being hated even by other furries. So if one of your players attempts to play a Chakat character, you'll know what to expect. On the other hand, with a few tweaks, they'd make for a great villain...

Also, their inventor is a brony. Make of that what you will.

The Furry Test
If you are developing a character or race, or are looking at someone else’s, and are wondering if they are technically furry or not, take this simple test. Just go through the list of traits and add the indicated points for each one that applies.
Note: a lot of these traits are also synonymous with Mary Sues and indeed the two have a tendency to occur together, so this test probably isn't that valid. The worst furries most worthy of purging (read: most of them), are almost without exception blatant and shameless Mary Sues in addition to their other depravities.

*Add 3 if they resemble an anthropomorphic animal.
*Add 4 if they are specifically an anthropomorphic animal (fox, wolf, etc.).
*Add 4 if they are a Sonic fan character.
*Add 5 if they are a My Little Pony fan character.
*Add 2 if their sexual characteristics are gone into with any detail.
*Add 1 if they have a vibrant and unnatural coloration (often a lazy attempt at Original character, do not steal).
*Add 2 if they are the subject of fetish material.
*Add 3 if they are are the subject of fetish material in universe.
*Add 2 if they are always depicted on the side of good.
*Add 3 if Humans are the real monsters.
*Add 1 if they are overly perfect, physically and/or morally.
*Add 7 if their nonhuman traits grants them any powers,

Now add up your final score.
Anything over 10 is definitely furry.
Anything over 20 is firmly in "you sick bastard" territory. Your synthetic abominations will be converted into a cybernetic slaves of the Auric Bara'ki empire, or else Age backwards into their infancy and mind-wiped, so as to free them from your lingering horror, you sick bastard.
Anything over 30 is indescribably fucked up.

For the most part, furries might have been tolerated had the fandom simply left it at "animal people fucking" and not become host to an array of utterly fucked up shit: watersports, adult babies, various forms of vore (most not even from natural orifices), and scat is just scratching the surface.

In every subculture, there are outcasts. Even furries. And that is where the Chakat come in.

The ultimate creation of deranged mental-patient Bernarde Doove, a notoriously bad writer whose books take place in a heavily-modified version of the Star Trek universe dubbed only Chakona Space, Chakats are a spacefaring genetically-engineered group of hermaphrodite Mary Sue Telepathic Space Cats that make your average Furry look as reasonable as Reasonable Daemonette. Widely mocked for their race being a group of flagrant Mary Sues, Chakats are an ideal example of a threat to every single internet subculture in existence; as despised by Furries as they are by fa/tg/uys and ca/tg/irls. Whilst they have roughly one-twelfth of one percent (and that's being generous) the exposure any other spacefaring subculture of any other existing universe, from Star Wars to the the 41st Millenium, fans, usergroups, and communities keep running into these fucking things, invariably with facepalm-worthy results.

But some of you here would ask, "But if the Chakats are Mary Sues like any other, then why can't you ignore them and their fanbase?". Here is when you are wrong, compared to some Mary Sue which are a blend of a few different types and classifications, [[What|the Chakats are classified as a 100% distilled and purified fusion of a Mary Sue, Child Sue, Marty Stu (when in male mode), Suenomorph, Sympathetic Sue, Black-Hole Sue, Purity Sue, Einstein Sue, Invoked Sue, Fan-Service Sue (although how anybody can fap to these beasts is beyond reasoning), Implausible Sue, Suemanimals, Chosen-One Sue, Holy Sue and a Mary Sue Race.]] Essentially they are the ultimate Mary Sue. Thanks, TVTropes. You're off the hook for now, Draigo.

Do not confuse them with the similar looking Wemics.

Important Warning
For your own sake, never try looking them up on Google Image Search if you have safe-search off. You have been warned. If you, for some reason decided to turn it off, bring along a bottle of brain bleach and eye bleach.

Overview
Pair a cat-taur hermaphrodite with the sort of godless "we is superior" fluff provided by the likes of Matt Ward for the Ultramarines, and crank the dial to 11, and you get your average Chakat. Engineered to be perfect survivors and colonizers (according to their creator), they were also engineered to be attractive and psionically gifted with empathetic abilities, making them always able to understand everyone all the time. They are the most psychologically stable race in the universe and they can use their psychic abilities to listen to your thoughts from a solar system away.

They are the strongest physically and for the most part perfect in every single way. Hating them at all makes you a horrible person who, in the eyes of the rest of the world in Chakona Space, should be killed or forced to repent, and not wanting to fuck one makes you a horrible deviant who needs to be cured. By turning you into a Chakat yourself, if need be.

Fucking serious.

Even TVTropes, a site known for being skilled at categorizing types of Mary Sues, openly acknowledges that they are basically an entire race of Mary Sues.

They prefer to be called by "hermaphroditic" pronouns (but are really just made up non-binary pronouns meant to appeal to the Chakat's nonexistent LGBTQ+ audience), such as shi and hir, which is by its own self hereticus diabolus; readers are advised to say "fuck that noise" and grab a fucking gun while awaiting the cyclonic torpedoes of the Exterminatus which would be justly declared upon any world where such Slaaneshi-tier abominations have taken foot. If /d/, /tg/, and fchan had a child, the Chakat would be the product of their sweaty lust, and all three would advocate immediate abortion before the abomination had a chance to fester. It is, perhaps, one of the only things in existence that furries and not-furries can agree upon - the Chakats are that fucking bad.

In their native works of fiction, Chakats are festering piles of sexual derangement; they are hermaphrodites, take on multiple mates (of multiple species), and general lend themselves to the most horrifying fetishes the internet has available. They, along with a term that adequately describes most Chakats started as a fan-fic race in Star Trek, and have since moved on into their own universe which is barely different from it (just enough so it can say it's its own setting).

Rather like the Twilight Saga is for bad literature, Chakats represent everything that is foul and disgusting about furries in general. Debauchery and fetish indulgence is rampant, and Humans who oppose the likes of the Chakats are a persecuted minority, treated as Terrorists. Much like any furry, these aren't damning in-and-of themselves; it's the way they are flaunted and shoved down your throats in the most obnoxious ways possible that disgusts even the most reasonable people. Some players of Dark Heresy and d20 Modern have staged glorious campaigns around these, in which the Chakats are cast down for the glory of the Imperium. To further drive home the prevalence of Chakats, they were the headlining race featured in Hc Svnt Dracones, a hilariously bad posthuman PNP RPG.

The Foul threat
In case it wasn't obvious from the above, Chakats are so bad that even other Furries wish to cause an Exterminatus on them via their mere presence; Cultist-chan wishes she could inspire this kind of rage. The problem is that Chakats (or rather, fans thereof) routinely invade other spacefaring universe RPs and games, bringing with them this awesomesauce new race that they just HAVE to play as.

You don't believe us? You will soon enough.

Whilst Warhammer 40K has not been impervious to their foul attempts (as demonstrated here), the fact that every race in existence hates everyone else has done an amicable job of keeping the spread down. Other far more fortunate franchises such as Halo whose multiverse is filled with xenophobic fascists, nuclear-armed terrorists, religious nutjobs, eldritch abominations and the fact that more than half of the races will promptly eat them like alien chow, has very little if any influence from Chakat deviance, while established Sci-Fi classics such as 1984 and Starship Troopers have also stayed clear from the plague due to the equally dystopic and warlike nature. Wargames such as Wing Commander, Star Wars, Mass Effect (despite Mass Effect's major villains, the Reapers, being eldritch abominations) and so on, however, have not been nearly as fortunate, with small and thriving Chakat cross-over communities in each. When rooted out as the shameless Mary Sues they are, they are often given the same mercy one might give a pedophile or serial rapist, which is, to say, they are handled with the Commissar Fuklaw approach.

If you encounter these deranged psychopaths, you are to finish them off immediately, or failing this, immediately contact the Commissariat, if not the Inquisition. You do not want the infection to spread. Perhaps the most thoroughly infiltrated fandom, however, is Star Trek, with entire websites devoted to nothing but Chakat/Star Trek crossover porn. God save us. The only hope Trekkies possibly have now is from the semi-official lore of Star Trek Online, where the Iconians have finally woken up and are out to burn and enslave the entire galaxy. Seriously, in the last episode, one of them literally screams "LET THE GALAXY BURN!!. And they actually look hot and sound delicious, even though they're energy beings. Any sane, any uncorrupted Trekkie would take ten thousand years of Iconian enslavement to one day of Chakat coexistence.

On that note, fucking | Bernarde Doove deserves to get brutally and mercilessly beaten up. Goddamn Chakats.
