The quintessential Infantry Fighting Vehicle. If you watched the movie Pentagon Wars starring Cary Elwes or played any sort of FPS or a wargame set during the modern era. You would already know what it is. The Bradley Fighting Vehicle was created in response to the Soviet Union's BMPs. It is obviously named after US General Omar Bradley.

In terms of difference between the M2 and M3, the M3 has 1 more Assault, and drops passengers for Spearhead and Scout.

Commanders can also choose to take an uparmoured Bradley, which sports armour tough enough to maybe think about that autocannon fire. Maybe. It does almost guarantee being bulletproof. Plus, against those heavy machine guns everyone seems to field, you're guaranteed to pass with Uparmour.

The Bradley is slightly slower than the M1, dropping a few inches in tactical and terrain. This means that usually your tanks can try to get in front and soak a few sabots, but also that your IFVs might fall behind on attacks.

As mentioned before the Bradley was a subject of the documentary Pentagon Wars. While the film took some creative liberties with Colonel Burton's rank and role, it showed that unlike today the early iterations of the Bradley were pieces of junk that had no place on the battlefield (many of the early "armor trials" were rigged, and a later investigation revealed that the aging Soviet BMP-1 was superior to the Bradley). Fortunately, the Bradley would eventually become a reasonably successful vehicle (depending on who you ask). In real life the Bradley was finally adopted in 1981, four years before Team Yankee takes place.

Redesigned just in time for the Gulf War after Iraq invaded Kuwait, the Bradley is currently armed with a M242 Chaingun, TOW missiles, and a M240 Machine Gun. The TOW missiles, of course, are the vehicle's biggest threat. During Operation Desert Storm Bradleys killed more Iraqi Soviet Tanks and armored vehicles than the M1 Abrams. Most losses came from friendly fire incidents, as IFF systems weren't a thing until the early 2000's. The Bradley remains a flexible vehicle that can back up or substitute for the Abrams in both anti tank and urban warfare. However, due to the changing face of warfare with the proliferation of Anti-Tank missiles and Improvised Explosive Devices, it didn't do so well during the Iraq War of 2003-2011: during that period the US Army lost around 150 vehicles with around 700 damaged. Partially due to this the Army began to use the MRAPS after 2007, while Bradleys expecting to fight in urban conditions are often upgraded with the Urban Survival Kit.

The Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle is a updated version of the Bradley that will replace the M113, causing mindless fanboys like Mike Sparks to have autistic rage. The AMPV is a bit larger than a Bradley, though, with at least seventy percent of the vehicle being new, making the vehicle more of a cousin to the Bradley than a sibling. AMPVs can be fitted with a variety of weapons including a 30mm remote turret and Javelin Missiles, so now pretty much anything that can be put on top of a Stryker can also also be used by the AMPV.

The Bradley itself (not the AMPV) will be replaced with another IFV in the future; potential candidates include the ASCOD GDLS, the Griffin, or any other Next Generation Combat Vehicle winner, but any new vehicle probably won't be adopted until at least 2035. <s>At a pace this slow, America may as well start buying weapon systems directly from their European allies</s> (BAE owns all assets of United defense meaning the EU is the largest arms supplier to the US the slow pace is the EU's fault).

The Light Armored Vehicle-25 (or LAV-25 for short) is an 8-wheeled amphibious recon vehicle, manufactured by GMC Canada. In America, its one of the USMC's premier infantry fighting vehicles, whose speed and amphibious nature, plus its decent weaponry, lent well to the Marines' tactics as forward vanguards.

The vehicle is crewed by 3 people: a commander, gunner, and driver, plus it can also transport 4 fully-geared soldiers who are there to act as scouts, or to assist the LAV with dealing with targets that they are not equipped to handle (such as armored tanks, although that's only if someone decided to bring an AT weapon). The vehicle's default armament is an M242 25mm chain gun, plus two M240 7.62mm machine guns, one of which is mounted co-axial with the chain gun, and one at the top of the turret.

As an infantry fighting vehicle toting an autocannon, the LAV excels in maneuver warfare against lightly armored forces. With a moving ROF of 3 and an AT8, it can comfortably destroy pretty much anything apart from main battle tanks through weight of fire. With anti-helicopter, it can even engage Hinds from a range of 24" albeit with penalties above 16" (which would probably not be a problem with the PACT's short ranged helicopters). However, their paper-thin armor means that these glass cannons will die in droves if hammered by artillery, infantry or anything bigger than a rifle cartridge. Even BTRs can overwhelm an LAV platoon with their HMG rounds posing a serious threat.

Consider using the LAV as a flanking force to divert the enemy away from your main thrust. With their powerful guns, a group of LAVs can wreak havoc on high value, rear-echelon units like artillery pieces and spotters. Alternatively, they may be used as a mobile reserve to protect gaps in your line. Do not expect them to hold, however: they lack the fanatical morale of the Soviets or the survivability of M113s.

The LAV-25 is an infantry fighting vehicle based on the MOWAG Piranha used by the US Marines Corps for reconnaissance and light fire support. If it wasn’t for the fact that it’s primarily designated for recon rather than transportation, you would classify this as a proper Infantry Fighting Vehicle, as it sports a mean 25mm autocannon in addition to the real life 6 man passenger capacity; enough for a fireteam of Marines with equipment. Despite its respectable firepower, it’s armour is still weak against anything more serious than small arms (later versions can protect against up to 14.5mm rounds and slat armour add-one protect against shape charges). The idea of having IFVs with truly effective armour would only become widespread later on in the 21st Century with the push to vehicles capable of surviving in an urban environment, birthing designs like the MRAP. In the Army, the role of the IFV is to support infantry in open ground against tanks and vehicles, hence the (comparatively) increased armour and ATGMs. The role of the Marines as a rapid reaction force forced them to compromise the slugging power of the Bradley for speed and transportability, essential for establishing a naval beachhead.

The LAV-25 has many variants used by the Marines Corps, some represented in Team Yankee (LAV-AT, LAV-M), and some that are not (LAV-AD was first introduced in the mid 1990s after the marines requested GDLS make a hybrid of the M163 VADS and M48 Chaparral but was retired due to budget constraints.<s>So it wouldn't be in game.</s> Models were just released so lets just say war moved the timeline up) The US Army uses their own version of the Piranha, the more recent Stryker. Although that variant was only armed with a machine gun (and possibly a 40mm grenade launcher) recently and wasn’t adopted until more or less a decade after the Cold War. Other Stryker variants match LAV variants, with the exception of the M1128 MGS which mounts a 105mm cannon (making it the US equivalent to the AMX-10 RC).

As for future replacements, well there isn't any. With all the new concepts that the American military-industrial complex is turning out. Anything demonstrated to replace the Piranha variants can probably be counted on one hand. In all likelihood, a future replacement will be based on another armoured wheeled vehicle used by America's allies or a derivative of the Piranha V. As concurrency has led to not only delays in deployment of land vehicles, but aircraft and ships as well.
