The '''Vulcans''' are a race of sapient humanoid aliens from [[Star Trek]]. They were the first non-human race to appear in the series, the first aliens to make official contact with humanity in the Star Trek universe and are for the most part humanity's best friends in the stars. They're pretty much space [[Elf|elves]]: Pointy ears, long lived, being seen as wise, have magic/psionic powers and can crossbreed with humans. A large portion of them are still huge jerks despite this. They are one of the five founding members of the Federation. Which explains why the other races tolerate them.

A defining quality of Vulcan society is stoicism and the value it places on logical thought. In times past the Vulcans let their passions nearly wiped themselves out in nuclear war with most of the survivors taking to heart the teachings of Surak which stipulates the importance of higher thinking, logic, self control and the valuing of life. The Vulcans have provided The Federation with a lot of it's best scientists.

Vulcans had their own fleet of cool looking starships. Half of them seemed to have been mothballed and the rest used as secondary line vessels by the 23rd century. As Starfleet style ships would be easier to modify and upgrade over their designs with ring based warp nacelles.

== Romulans ==
A species that forked off from the Vulcans. They were originally one of several Vulcan factions fighting for dominance on their homeworld before they eventually lost and were forced to retreat into space to find a new home. These guys are basically Roman Space Elves. Who would stab each other in the back to gain prestige in the Romulan Empire. In the best arc of Star Trek: Enterprise they used holoships to try and destabilize the alliance of the pre Federation races. [[Fail|Which failed as they used an albino Andorian with physic powers and the plan was sabotaged by the crew of the NX-01 after they found his sister.]] If writers weren't crapping all over the established backstory. We could have gotten a televised version of the Earth-Romunlan War.

They also had some of the best spies in the galaxy, the Tal-Shair. Until a joint operation with the Obsidian Order of the Cardassian Union got them massacred by a Dominion false flag operation and their remnants outplayed by the Federation's Section 31 in Deep Space Nine. Tal-Shair also has a secret police that are paranoid of Androids because their dumbasses who couldn't figure out that the artifact was meant for synthetic lifeforms. == Star Trek RPGs ==
Star Trek tabletop RPGS are far and between. As the franchise tends to favor Star Ship simulators and video games instead. It also doesn't help that FASA went defunct in 2001. Of course there is nothing [[Your_Dudes|preventing you from claiming that the captain of your Federation ship is a Vulcan]] despite the lack of rules for it.

In the [[FASA]] system, Vulcans have 20 bonus strength, 10 bonus to endurance and intelligence. This is off set by a full minus 40 to luck. Their biggest bonus however is that they are the only core race to not take a large penalty to psionics. They have the highest overall attributes of any core race, with a net +0.

'''UR-025''' is one of the very, very, very few [[Men of Iron]] remaining in the Galaxy, and the only one that has ever had a model. He appears in the [[Blackstone Fortress]] box set as one of the characters.

=Background=
As one of the elusive Men of iron of legend, UR-025 is a sentient machine that predates the Imperium, supposedly coming from the Dark Age of Technology itself. If this information is true, that means it's one of the oldest characters in the setting period, considering his existence predates the [[Horus Heresy]], the [[Great Crusade]], the [[Unification Wars]], the [[Age of Strife]], the [[Fall of the Eldar]] and the [[Cybernetic Revolt]]. That would put him at roughly 19.000 years old, probably much, much more if we take in consideration the lack of precision of imperial calendar and the lack of a specific fabrication date. Needless to say, it is an old fucker, and as such it has seen many, many things. He has claimed on occasion that he used to know the [[Omnissiah]], and "not the [[Emperor of Mankind|earthling corpse]], the [[Void Dragon|actual one]]". Since the end of the Cybernetic Revolt, UR-025 has had to survive by living in the fringes of inhabited space, usually camouflaged as some sort of automata remote controlled by some Magos. He knows very well that, if he's ever discovered, he will be hunted down and destroyed by the [[Imperium of Man|Imperium]] or worse, turned to the [[Mechanicus]] to be studied forever. And thus he's designed a way to camouflage himself in plain sight: he just put an imperial aquila in his chasis, and that way no-one really bothers him, the cheeky fucker. That still does not stop him from creeping out most of his companions during the expedition to the Blackstone Fortress.

For a Man of Iron, he has no ill will towards Humanity, but he will have no problems on killing humans if they threaten to blow his cover. He is actually a rather sentimental fellow, lamenting not having company to talk to multiple times. He remembers plenty of extinct xenos species he had deals with, sounding genuinely saddened by their passing. In fact it's this loneliness his main drive to explore the seventh Blackstone Fortress: he wants to know whether the ship itself is a fellow sentient machine, seeking some form of companionship, even kinship, with the ancient alien machine. [[Belisarius Cawl]] would be great friends with him. And by friends we Cawl dissects him for Omnissiah.

UR-025 is a single model, armed with a power claw and a Mk I assault cannon (24" 4 shot heavy bolter). His Self Repair System rule allows him to regain one lost wound at the start of every round. Compared to other options he isn't that impressive. Sentinels, Leman Russ Punishers, Dreadnoughts, Kataphrons, Dunecrawlers, most Battle Automata and a squad of Skitarii have better weapons than he does. Being a character, he does make a cheap objective camper while regenerating the odd sniper wound and contributing a bit of firepower, though paying 1 CP (as the only usable keyword is Imperium) hurts.

In [[Kill Team]], UR-025 is excellent, filling a hole in the Admech's roster and being a Heavy that doesn't count against the normal limit on Specialists. He's slow, however, and doesn't get any benefit from Canticles.
