The Marauders are a faction of green-skinned aliens which incorporates Orcs and Goblins and several other related sub-species. They are native to the planet Gora and &#039;Gorans&#039; is a term sometimes used for them collectively. When GCPS forces first encountered them they appeared to be primitives and the Corporate Marines routinely started the process of subduing them. However, despite lacking advanced technology the Gorans proved to be a formidable and disciplined foe, and rather embarrassingly pushed the humans back to their drop ships in short order. While considering what to do about the situation, a human general named Klimt saw an opportunity. He travelled down to the planet alone and unarmed. Disappearing for several days, Klimt was presumed dead. However, he returned, bruised and battered with three of the Goran&#039;s most powerful warlords, apparently having won their respect and services. Following this incident the Marauders (as they became known) were employed as shock troops to compliment corporate militaries across GCPS space.&lt;br /&gt;
This arrangement continued for some time, until the Marauders revolted en masse in what became known as The Mandrake Rebellion. So violent was this revolt that it very nearly destroyed the GCPS and led to the development of the Enforcers as a replacement, one who&#039;s loyalty and obedience could be guaranteed. Marauders now operate as mercenaries across the galaxy, famed for their ferocity and professionalism in war. Some corporations within the GCPS still employ them, but following the events of the Mandrake Rebellion their use by GCPS militaries is much diminished.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Despite their savagery in battle, Marauders are neither primitive nor stupid. They are well trained, disciplined and capable of maintaining their own equipment, following orders and understanding tactics and strategy in much the same way as other sentient species. However, they are strongly inclined towards violence and this forms a key part of their society. When two orcs meet for the first time they will immediately fight in order to establish dominance, and to them this is completely normal. Additionally, Marauders are very well muscled compared to humans, but this was not initially the case. The diet on Goran provides very little in the way of protein, but upon leaving the planet and ingesting protein-rich foods or military rations from other worlds they quickly develop into hulking beasts. &lt;br /&gt;

While they have secret cells within GCPS space, reb also control their own homeworlds and while not recognized by the GCPS as a state they are essentially a de facto confederation of aliens and humans who got pissed by the corporation evil expansion. Unluckily, due to most of the fluff being writen in corporation POV it is hard to know if any of the other great races recognize them as a power in the galaxy, well at least the organized ones like Forge Fathers, Asterians, Nameless and Z&#039;Zor. Ok so, living in the GCPS is not really as bad as living in the Imperium, by a mile, even aliens can archieve a certain degree of respect and have representation in the council. Yet, some worlds are well, not pleasant, and also the corporation is keen on exploiting aliens when profits are endangered.&lt;br /&gt;
Thus the corporation has been part of several double crossings, environmental destruction and even genocide and the worst of the worst, TAXATION on humans(the bastards).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Expectedly this pissed of several races, and humans, especially the latter, as the formal date for the begining of the rebellion is related to a TAX revolt(yup mantic went there), soon the human rebels found alliances with alien races well spread accross the GCPS, from nearly wipped out Yndiij( whom the Rebels actually saved from beign whipped out) to &amp;quot;make the teraton empire great again&amp;quot; teratons(who disagree with how the Teraton empire has been reduced to a puppet state within corporation space) and Judwan (who don&#039;t fight, but will happily cure injuries and do admin).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Overall the rebs were able to liberate a piece of space within the frontier and establish a lose federation, they would probably have been crushed byt the GCPS were it not for them beign busy fighting other dangers,(of the we spread like the plague nature).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Their forces dont form a standard army as well as other factions, and most of the battles in which they are engaged are guerrilla warfare. The loose structure of the army means that reb forces tend to have different types of aliens within the same squad, hence making them a modellers dream, if your dream is bringing variety to the tables.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
If 40k comparisons were allowed, they are similar to the tau empire, beign both a confederation of mostly peace oriented people, Judwn even look like air caste tay. Only scratch empire because rebs want no part in imperialism(probably then again, having only a GCPS POV makes it hard to understand the rebs entirely) &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Their armies include both overt armies fighting on distant planets, as well as saboteurs hidden within Corporation ranks. On the tabletop this is somewhat represented by the difference between &#039;&#039;Deadzone&#039;&#039; and &#039;&#039;Warpath&#039;&#039; forces, although you can field any of their infantry in both formats.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Their name &amp;quot;Rebs&amp;quot; comes from a pejorative term used by Corporation forces to refer to them that they later adopted as their own. In the same vein, they call the Corporation the &amp;quot;Evil Empire.&amp;quot; Yeah, [[Star Wars|wonder where they got that from...]]&lt;br /&gt;

They&#039;re kind of an odd team in that they can customize their players to some degree by using different member races in different player positions. The kit comes with two each of Gaelians, Ralarats, Rin, and Soraks that can be run in different roles.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;div&gt;Enforcers (also called Space Policemen, skiny marines. ManMarines, IronManMarines) are Mantic equivalent to Spessh Mareeeens (which are, in turn, GWs equivalent to Dune&#039;s Sardaukar), more specifically to [[Ultramarines]], though their models do look quite different, and their background, while following similar archtypes has began to develop very differently specially since deadzone provided us with more info about them.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Overall, enforcers are the GCPS elite army, but they are not really deployed en masse but rather used as a special ops squad, with a lot of focus on secrecy and lightning attacks, which would in many ways make them the polar opposite to certain space marine armies, while making them very similar to a certain [[Alpha Legion|non existent legion]] (to the point where every enforcer that is not a ranking officer is forbidden from revealing his face).&lt;br /&gt;

Militarywise enforcers are the closest thing you will get to reasonable marines, making use of sniper rifles, camouflage and engineering corps that dont believe technology is magical. Also despite being slimmer due to not having shoulderpads of power, they are actually a head taller than gw spesh mareens (some say [[Primaris Marines|primaris]] were created to compensate for that).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Overall enforcers are an interesting variant on the post-human archtype, though lorewise they are more similar to imperial [[stormtrooper]]s than spesh mareens (since like stormtroopers they are enhanced humans that recieved military training instead of monastic knights utterly transformed into murderous machimes), some have even played dreadball before joining the ranks (thus making enforcers an army of former high school jocks).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
After being originally released in restic, nowadays they are finally hard plastic and gorgeous, available mainly as normal troops (armed with laser guns or wristblades, which despite not being nearly as cool as [[chainswords]] might actually be more useful in a fight), peacekeepers (terminator equivalents that actually look like tartaros pattern [[terminators]] if they got a more square form, also like grim Buzz Lightyear) and enforcers on [[Jetbike|JETBIKES]], thats right, this space marines know how to roll, which would also make them possible replacement for people who want to field a [[Saim-Hann]] host without selling kidneys since enforcers are 20 bucks for 4 vs Gw 35 for 3.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
They also have Striders, which look like beefed up [[dreadnoughts]] (though admittedly missing some of the heraldry that makes dreadnoughts such a classic) and their Acusser flier that is basically bigger than a [[stormtalon]], but smaller than a [[stormhawk]] and looks like a more advanced [[Valkyrie#In_Warhammer_40000|Valkyrie]], so it could be either thing.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Overall enforcers are an interesting bunch of models, if you prefer some more realistic and serious approach to the super human archtype.&lt;br /&gt;

Ok, so what makes the enforcers be more than just poor man&#039;s [[Space Marines|space marines]]? Well, first of all, while both serve a quasi-totalitarian regime, enforcers have much less autonomy than space marines, since enforcers are said to be under the direct rule of the council of seven, with little to no free will when it comes to deciding when and were to deploy.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Also, lorewise, while the space marines are organized into chapters, each a fairly individual self contained army, enforcers are instead considered a single fighting force and mostly using the same colour scheme, with the exception of some characters.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In essence, whereas space marines are a collection of knightly orders each mostly individual, enforcers are a single really big army, that mostly suppresses individual identity in favour of the army&#039;s uniformity.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Amazingly though, while the enforcers tend to supress individuality within their ranks, their soldiers, tend to have somewhat a story before joining the army. With many of them having even been dreadball players.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Another key difference between enforcers and space marines comes in the shape of mortality, enforcers are not only much more prone to dying than space marines, but also age, which means some have to retire, the dossiers says that when they do they go to a pleasure world (either that or they are sacrificed and uses as material, whatever sounds more comfortable).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In the end Space Marines are genetically enhanced humans that fight for the glory of the [[God-Emperor|emperor]], enforcers are soldiers that fight for the council of the 7 in order to gain money and a retirement package, quite a big difference in my opinion.&lt;br /&gt;

&#039;&#039;&#039;Warpath&#039;&#039;&#039; is a relatively new 28mm scale tabletop game from the upstart UK-based miniatures publisher [[Mantic Games]]. The miniatures are slightly cheaper than the established competitors ([[Games Workshop]] and [[Privateer Press]]), and are highly detailed, if wide-headed.&lt;br /&gt;

Warpath was initially released several years ago, but the game released then bears little resemblance to the game we have today. Mantic had had some initial success with their [[Kings of War]] fantasy wargame and were keen to release a sci-fi counterpart. A limited range of miniatures were released for four out of eight promised factions, but general consensus in the community was that the rules were not up to scratch and Warpath almost dropped off the radar. In the meantime, Mantic released two other sci-fi games set in the same universe, Dreadball and Deadzone, which helped develop both the background and the range of miniatures. 2015 was the year Warpath finally came to the fore, with a set of alpha test rules unveiled at the Mantic Open Day in May and a [https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/warpath-the-sci-fi-battle-game highly-successful Kickstarter] campaign to fund the full release of the game, which hit retail in April 2017.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
A smaller version of Warpath was created at the same time, called Warpath: Firefight, using the same minis, and largely the same rules and flow, but designed to be the size of Bolt Action or 40k 2nd, with just a few dozen soldiers and a vehicle. This is done with different points and force construction, by shifting down to squads of individuals as the basic unit, as opposed to Warpath which uses teams of squads (set in a movement tray if you want) as the basic building block. The skirmish game Deadzone breaks this down again, by making the individuals in the squad the basic unit, and dispensing with the heavy vehicles. Really, with this three tiered approach, Mantic has you covered no matter how big or small you like your battles.&lt;br /&gt;

The models are currently made of hard plastic sprues (basic and heavy infantry, large vehicles), resin (some light vehicles and characters), metal (one Asterian unit, some heroes, and numerous alternate weapon kits for walkers), and PVC (light vehicles, characters, and elite units), with hard-plastic vehicle kits coming courtesy of the latest Kickstarter. As of 2021, Warpath (the large-scale wargame) is receiving little support from Mantic Games. Despite a successful Kickstarter, the game never really took off. Models are available  on Mantic&#039;s online store and from some other retailers, but no supplements or new units have appeared for some time. &lt;br /&gt;

However, the Warpath Universe is alive and well. Deadzone (the skirmish game in the same setting) is proving very popular and saw the release of its 3rd edition in October 2021 with many new releases planned over the next year. Firefight, which sits somewhere between Deadzone and Warpath in offering &#039;platoon-level&#039; combat, is currently undergoing an extended open beta test in preparation for a new release in 2022 and shows definite promise. Warpath is a D6 based system which uses alternating activation of units. When a unit is activated it can typically perform two &#039;actions&#039; (the most common being Move and Shoot). These actions can be in any order, so you can shoot and then move, giving your units a lot of tactical flexibility. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&#039;Suppression&#039; is a key game mechanic in Warpath, and can be just as important as killing enemy soldiers. When units are fired upon they will acquire suppression tokens. If they accumulate too many they will become suppressed (where they fight less effectively) or even grounded (where they cannot do anything and may flee the battlefield). Units can shed suppression tokens by performing certain actions (Rally or Regroup). Gamewise warpath has become its own creation a long time ago, even though firefight seems a little similar to actual warhammer 40k though with much less fat AND alternate activation, which is awesome every single day.&lt;br /&gt;

Lore Wise, it could be said that warpath is a prequel to warhammer 40k actually, since corporation technology does seem to be similar to 30k tech, and also orcs are pretty similar in that they are both bred for war species of pirates. The Asterians could be interpreted as pre fall Eldar who have yet to develop soulstone technology, remember that slaanesh was born in the 20th millennium, hence warpath could be placed before that. &lt;br /&gt;

Overall the corporation does look like the Imperium, though with much less focus on religion and much more focus on consumerism.&lt;br /&gt;

The main difference would be the alien population, but that could be worked out, after all in this joint timeline the Asterians/Eldar royally would have fucked up the universe TWICE (since in-universe it was the Asterians who allowed the Plague to succeed) AND the corporation is already at war with a ton of alien races already (many even within corporation space). So a post age of strife humanity would have devolved into a big(ger) state of xenophobia than they were during the corporation era.&lt;br /&gt;

Another thing that could help the joint timeline theory would be the similarities between Tau and Judwan, with peaceful judwan probably being the precursors to still moderately peaceful but necessarily aggressive Tau (if by &amp;quot;necessary&amp;quot; one means &amp;quot;without provocation&amp;quot;). Besides the nature, Judwan like Tau are mostly incorruptible by the forces of Chaos (but Tau are not remotely incorruptible, just hard for daemons to actually see due to having weak and camouflaged souls), with only 1 Judwan (Wrath) being prone to violence and only after extensive experimentation by the GCPS bastards. In other words, Tau are Judwan adapted to the grimdarkness of the 41st millenium.&lt;br /&gt;

A spin-off game set in the Warpath universe, Dreadball is like [[Blood Bowl]], but is set in space, uses aliens, is played on a hex grid, isn&#039;t based on American football and has completely different game mechanics. Dreadball has become something of a runaway success for Mantic, with plenty of leagues and regional tournaments springing up in the UK and beyond. The fluff is subversive, and explains how the GCPS use the sport for huge propaganda and public distraction value, like desensitizing the public to alien threats by showing them as beatable sportsball athletes who may or may not be highly sophisticated total fakes (Weekend at Bernies Z&#039;Zor, humans surgically altered to look like something that could be Asterian), while famous incorporated alien players are treated like WWE stars.&lt;br /&gt;

Dreadball 2.0 was released in March 2018, and continued the Mantic tradition of taking a popular, but slightly squirrelly first edition, and through play testing really nailing the gameplay and balance with the second edition.&lt;br /&gt;

==Deadzone==&lt;br /&gt;
Deadzone is an urban skirmish game which pits small &#039;strike teams&#039; of around 5-10 models against each other. Some comparisons between Deadzone and [[Necromunda]] are inevitable and it will appeal to a similar market, but Deadzone is significantly distinctive from Necromunda (or Kill Team) in terms of gameplay, aesthetic and background. Some players compare Deadzone as 3d chess with dies, long range weapons &amp;amp; terrain. &lt;br /&gt;
Also Deadzone can be considered as a solid gateway game for board gamers. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Deadzone is played on a gridded 2&#039;x2&#039; mat with modular scenery tiles which allow players to construct 3D gaming environments (in the fluff, most Corporation colony buildings are built from these mass-produced flat-pack tiles and connectors produced by a futuristic version of Ikea). No tape measures are required because all distances are related to the grid; a rifle, for example, has a range of 6 squares, a normal model can move up to two squares in a turn.&lt;br /&gt;

A second edition was released in mid 2016, and the several expansions released afterwards have introduced the GCPS, the Mazon Labs corporation (think PMCs, but with Plague experiment beasties), and the Nameless (It Came From The Deep).&lt;br /&gt;

Also noteworthy: the game system gets mainly positive feedback since 2nd Edition released. &lt;br /&gt;

A third Edition is announced and is scheduled to be released on October 25th, 2021.&lt;br /&gt;

== Unlikely prequel to 40k ==&lt;br /&gt;
Gamewise warpath has become its own creation a long time ago, even though firefight seems a little similar to actual warhammer 40k though with much less fat AND alternate activation, which is awesome every single day.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Lore Wise, it could be said that warpath is a prequel to warhammer 40k actually, since corporation technology does seem to be similar to 30k tech, and also orcs are pretty similar in that they are both bred for war species of pirates. The Asterians could be interpreted as pre fall Eldar who have yet to develop soulstone technology, remember that slaanesh was born in the 20th millennium, hence warpath could be placed before that. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Overall the corporation does look like the Imperium, though with much less focus on religion and much more focus on consumerism.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The main difference would be the alien population, but that could be worked out, after all in this joint timeline the Asterians/Eldar royally would have fucked up the universe TWICE (since in-universe it was the Asterians who allowed the Plague to succeed) AND the corporation is already at war with a ton of alien races already (many even within corporation space). So a post age of strife humanity would have devolved into a big(ger) state of xenophobia than they were during the corporation era.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Another thing that could help the joint timeline theory would be the similarities between Tau and Judwan, with peaceful judwan probably being the precursors to still moderately peaceful but necessarily aggressive Tau (if by &amp;quot;necessary&amp;quot; one means &amp;quot;without provocation&amp;quot;). Besides the nature, Judwan like Tau are mostly incorruptible by the forces of Chaos (but Tau are not remotely incorruptible, just hard for daemons to actually see due to having weak and camouflaged souls), with only 1 Judwan (Wrath) being prone to violence and only after extensive experimentation by the GCPS bastards. In other words, Tau are Judwan adapted to the grimdarkness of the 41st millenium.&lt;br /&gt;
